The African Cup of Nations saw it's first (of many, if previous tournaments are anything to go
by) ridiculous goalkeeping ricket during Zambia's shock 2-1 win over Senegal last night with
Zambian 'keeper Kennedy Mweene dropping a big hairy bollock at the end of the first half, playing
fast and loose with the rules governing the size of his goal area when mopping up after a
free-kick.

After a disappointing start to this calender year, Arsenal were finally able to secure their
first Premier League win of 2012, picking up 3 vital points against Blackburn Rovers in a 7-1
demolition at The Emirates.
Once again, Robin van Persie showed just how important he is to this Arsenal side scoring three
and making two others during a numbingly-cold afternoon in North London.
When Zambia won the African Cup of Nations in that amazing shoot out, after the scores had been
tied at 0-0 through extra time, we thought there had to be some good players in their side.
That's because we knew the Ivory Coast had top players from the Premier League, like Cheick Tiote,
the Toure brothers Yaya and [.

Introducing the adidas ‘Comoequa‘, the Official Match Ball for the 2012 Orange African Cup of
Nations.
For the first time since his racial rowe with Patrice Evra caused a firestorm in England,
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has issued an apology.
Well, sort of.
Suarez apologized to anyone who might have been offended by the use of the word "negro" but did
not go as so far as to apologize directly to Evra.

With so many gifted African players now plying their trade in the Premier League, the African
Cup of Nations has become something of an issue for managers in the top division, particularly as
it is held slap bang in the middle of the season.
When it was first announced that Thierry Henry would be returning to the club, as an Arsenal
fan, it was always going to be impossible not to get excited about the move.
Some people however, were quick to criticize the deal, stating the 34-year old forward was
"past it" and this was just another "desperate" signing by Arsene
Wenger.
So finally this much-vaunted "Game in Hand" is upon us. Truth be told, I will be a little sad to
see it go. It has practically become part of the family, like a scruffy, uncouth urchin discovered
in the wreckage of the summer riots, and adopted by the cheery folk of White Hart Lane. And let's
face it, this Game in Hand has proved more useful than the Sword of Omens when it comes to
pointless bickering with fans of l'Arse, Chelski, Liverpool and the like.
Manager Alan Pardew is a busy man these days at Newcastle. Alan Pardew difficult January for the
Newcastle manager First of all, Newcastle would like to bring in a couple of new players in
January, but there are also some contracts that need to be completed at the club. And they include
new contracts for captain Fabricio Coloccini, Danny Simpson and Danny Guthrie.
The 2012 African Cup of Nations begins this weekend with two host nations, Equatorial Guinea and
Gabon, which have such a limited record in this competition. The former has never qualified for an
African Cup of Nations before and will be an unknown quantity to most observers of this year's
tournament whilst the latter have competed in just four previous tournaments and have only
progressed beyond the group stage on just one occasion when reaching the last eight in 1996.

Gabon scored late goals in their matches to make the last eight of the African Cup
of Nations.. Then again many experts said that Equatorial Guinea and Gabon shouldn't be hosting the
African Cup of Nations as neither country has any real football pedigree.

As hinted at in last night's post it felt like a good night to be a blue from the word go.
City always seem to fall foul of Everton's superior workrate and commitment. Players like Aguero,
Villa and Nasri have added real class to go along with the brawn but where is the steel that side
will need to win a title?
