After competing against South Africa for the 3rd time in the last decade to host an
international tournament, Morocco finally came out on top. The North African
country, who competed against South Africa to host both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, was selected
by the Confederation of African Football to host the 2015 edition of the
African Cup of Nations.

Former Sporting Kansas City and Nigeria World Cup defender Uche Okafor died Thursday at his
Dallas-area home.
Okafor, 43, was African football pundit for ESPN Soccernet Press Pass, the daily soccer analysis
show.
It has been exactly one year since I traveled 44 hours to Angola to interview Didier Drogba, the
Chelsea and Ivory Coast superstar, for a story in
Sports Illustrated magazine leading up to
last year's World Cup. He couldn't have been more accommodating, spending 90 minutes talking to me
in his private bungalow on the heavily fortified Ivory Coast team base in Cabinda during the
African Cup of Nations.
When you think of African football, a few nations come to mind first. Nigeria, Senegal, Ivory
Coast, South Africa, Togo, etc. One that would come much later down that list for most of us is
Burkina Faso. The senior side has never reached a World Cup, and aside from a 4th place finish in
1998, have never gotten past the first round of the African Cup of Nations.
