Thai Port's AFC Cup run came to end with a dreadful performance in Kuwait. Their defensive game
plan failed miserably as Al-Qadsia were seemingly able to attack at will. On the rare occasions
that Port did manage to muster some pressure, they created three or four great chances to score,
hitting the woodwork twice.

to see that there was a decent contingent of Thai people inside the Stadium!

Thai Port took a giant step towards qualification from AFC Cup Group H with a 1-0 win over Geylang
United in Singapore. Kiatjareon Ruangparn's 58th minute strike gave Port the victory and the 3
points.
Attendance: 1,120

Thai Port let a 2 goal lead slip through their fingers at Suphachalasai Stadium in front of 5,000
fans (attendance from AFC website). A sloppy own goal by a Thai Port defender Moudourou Swa-Moise
just before half time was the turning point in the match. We should have been going in at the break
2-0 up and cruising, but a needless error gave the visitors hope.
Thai Port will meet Sriwijaya of Indonesia in the last 16 of the AFC Cup. The South Sumatra based
team finished as joint leaders of Group F on 13 points along with Vietnamese team Binh Duong, but
Sriwijaya took top spot courtesy of a superior head to head record.

attendance, including several Muangthong supporters.

At the end of my preview article for the Thai Port vs Al-Qadsia first-leg match, I wrote: "It is
vital that we take a positive result into the second-leg, because from what I've heard about these
kind of games, you don't get much out of the referee in the Middle East". That comment looks
even more pertinent following the AFC's announcement that the match officials for Tuesday's game
are all from Iran, a country separated from Kuwait by 9 miles of Iraqi desert at their closest
point.

The Asian Football Confederation have released the official fixtures for the 2010 AFC Cup. Thai
Port are in Group H alongside Woofoo Tai Po (HK), and Geylang United (Sin). There is still one
place left open in the group, that will be filled by either Sriwijaya (Indo), or SHB Da Nang (Vie)
depending on which teams lose in the Asian Champions League qualifying stage.
Thai Port travel to Singapore for Tuesday's crunch AFC Cup group H clash against Geylang on the
back of a timely TPL victory over Police United. Sasom Pobpraserd rested several first team
regulars for that match, and whether he chooses to recall the big names or stick with a winning
line up remains to be seen.

Here are some photo's taken by AS:SOON:AS in and around the ground at yesterday's AFC Cup fixture
against Geylang United. It was a big day for Port fans, as it was the first time they were able to
see an AFC Cup match in Bangkok, and the first time they were allowed into Suphachalasai Stadium
since the violence that marred the Kor Royal Cup match.
Team news
Sasom Pobpraserd made 5 changes from the team that lost to Samut Songkhram on Sunday. In are
Ittipol Nonsiri, Pongpipat Kamnuan, Alef Poh-Ji, Jirawat Makarom, and most surprisingly of all,
Sompong Soleb. The striker has been out injured for a month. The players who have dropped out of
the starting eleven are - Rangsan Iam-Wiroj, Nontapan Jiensatawong, Worawut Wangsawad, Yai Nilwong,
and Edvaldo.
Thai Port go into Wednesday's AFC Cup clash against Singaporean side Geylang United on the back of
an indifferent start to the season. So far, the form book reads lost, won, lost. I just hope the
sequence continues for one more match!
Sasom Pobpraserd may well recall Pongpipat Kamnuan, Jirawat Makarom, Ekkachai Sumrei and Pitipong
Kuldilok to the Thai Port starting line up in favour of Nontapan Jiensatawong, Yai Nilwong, Worawut
Wangsawad, and Edvaldo.

Thai Port got their AFC Cup campaign up and running with a fantastic 1-0 win against Tai Po in Hong
Kong. Pitipong Kuldilok scored only goal of the match in the 48th minute.
Next up for Thai Port in the AFC Cup is a vital double header against Geylang United. The teams
meet at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok on March 24th.
The start to Thai Port's 2010 season hasn't been the smoothest to say the least! We've had well
documented off field problems, we lost our first AFC Cup match, and saw the opening TPL fixture
against Bangkok Glass postponed due to political protests in Bangkok. It has meant that since
playing against SHB Da Nang 3 weeks ago, we've only had one proper practice match, a 0-0 draw
against TOT CAT at PAT Stadium.

Thai Port go into Tuesday's match with SHB Da Nang knowing that they will qualify from Group H with
a game to spare if they win. There are other permutations that mean Port will still qualify even if
they don't win, but having a positive focus is the best option. Thai Port will be hoping to
continue their excellent away form in the AFC Cup, as they have won both matches on their travels
so far without conceding a goal.
Thai Port booked their place in the last 16 of the AFC Cup with a 0-0 draw against SHB Da Nang in
Vietnam. Their reward will be a one leg fixture away from home against the winners of Group F. At
the moment it looks likely that we'll face a tough trip to either Sriwijaya (Indonesia) or Binh
Duong (Vietnam).

Thai Port's final AFC Cup Group H fixture against Tai Po (HK) has been moved from Suphachalasai
Stadium in Bangkok, to Surakul Stadium in Phuket due to the political unrest in the Thai capital
city.
The match will still be played on Tuesday 27th April, with a 6:30pm kick off (Thai time).
Thai Port have asked for help from the Thai Football Association & Asian Football Confederation to
move next week's AFC Cup Group H match against Tai Po from Surakul Stadium in Phuket, to a Stadium
in Chonburi. Sasom Pobraserd said the request has been made for financial reasons.
The game has already been moved once.
Thai Port will wrap up their AFC Cup Group H campaign on Tuesday against Hong Kong FA Cup winners
Tai Po, in Phuket. The match is a dead rubber, as Port and SHB Da Nang have already qualified for
the last 16, leaving Geylang United and Tai Po in 3rd & 4th place.
Trying to second guess Sasom Pobpraserd's team selection is nigh on impossible, but I'd be amazed
if he didn't take the opportunity to rest some of the first team, and give a few squad players like
Jedsada Phulek, Narong Wisetsri and Nirut Kamsawad a run out.
Thai Port ended their AFC Cup Group H campaign with a morale boosting 2-0 win over Tai Po in front
of 600 fans at Surakul Stadium in Phuket. Issarapong Lilakorn opened the scoring with his first
goal in a Thai Port shirt since joining the club from Khon Kaen. Substitute Nirut Kamsawad added a
second goal to wrap up the 3 points for Port.

Thai Port face a tough task if they are to reach the quarter finals of the AFC Cup. Our opponents
Sriwijaya have underachieved this season, and are currently 6th in the Indonesian Super Liga.
Despite that, they have one of the best squads in the country and can boast an excellent home
record having won 10 and drawn 3 of their 15 home league matches.
Thai Port are through to the AFC Cup quarter finals after a superb 4-1 victory in the Jakabaring
Stadium. Sriwijaya took the lead in the 7th minute, but Port fought back with 2 goals before half
time through Sarayoot Chaikamdee & Sompong Soleb.
Sriwijaya boss Rahmad Darmawan pinpointed Sarayoot Chaikamdee as the Thai Port dangerman before the
match and his fears were confirmed in the second half.

2009 FA Cup winners Thai Port and 2009 Thai Premier League winners Muangthong United will not be
drawn against each other in the AFC Cup quarter finals. The Asian Football Confederation has
clarified the situation before the draw, which takes place in Kuala Lumpur on the 25th May and have
stated that teams from the same country cannot play each other at this stage.
Ahead of tomorrow's AFC Cup quarter-finals draw, here is a look back at how Thai Port reached the
last eight of the competition.

Thai Port are unperturbed at being drawn against one of the favourites for the AFC Cup at the
quarter-final stage. Port know that they will go into the tie as underdogs, but general manager
Adebayo Gadebo told the AFC website that the club will be well prepared for the September showdown.
"Al Qadsia are an unknown quality to us but in general, Kuwait football is one of the best in this
continent and they should be respected.
Thai Port's AFC Cup quarter-final opponents Al-Qadsia were beaten 3-1 by Kuwait SC in the 2010
Kuwait Super Cup. Ex Cerezo Osaka striker Rodrigo Vergilio aka 'Careca' scored twice in the first
15 minutes, with Waleed Ali adding a third Kuwait SC goal before the half-time break. Al-Qadsia
netted a late consolation courtesy of Kuwaiti International Bader Al-Mutwa.
Thai Port go into Tuesday evenings game at Suphachalasai Stadium on the back of some patchy recent
form. The orange & blues have only won 2 of their last 8 games, so they will need to up their game
considerably if they are to get a positive result against the 2009 & 2010 Kuwait Premier League
champions Al-Qadsia.
The AFC Cup quarter final first-leg between Thai Port and Al-Qadsia ended in a goalless draw. The
game was played in difficult conditions at Suphachalasai, as heavy rain swept into the Stadium for
the entire game, creating a difficult surface on which to play cohesive football.
The home side adapted to the conditions quickest, creating a couple early chances.
Here is a little bit of information about Thai Port's AFC Cup quarter final opponents Al Qadsia
Sports Club, who are based in the Hawalli area of Kuwait City.
