An all-Japanese semi-final will take place in the AFC Champions League as defending champions
Urawa Red Diamonds and Gamba Osaka were drawn
together. Three clubs from Japan could have made it to the last four but Australia's
Adelaide United beat Kashima Antlers 2-1 on aggregate to
terminate any possibilities.

After thoroughly enjoying the AFC Champions league match between Adelaide and Kashima on Wednesday
it got me thinking, where is my "FoxSports Football" channel.
Late last year a lot of rumours were circulating that FoxSports was set to launch a dedicated

Kashima Antlers' AFC Champions League chances have take a severe blow with the news that captain
Mitsuo Ogasawara will miss the rest of the season after suffering knee ligament damage in Kashima's
1-1 draw away at Kashiwa Reysol overnight.
The influential midfielder was stretchered from the field after colliding with Kashiwa's Alex in
the sixteenth minute, and there was more drama just three minutes later when Kashima fans appeared
to strike Alex with a flag-pole as the Brazilian midfielder lined up to take a corner.
Well what a night for Adelaide and Australian Football as a whole. Adelaide United turned in an
excellent performance to send Kashima out of the AFC Champions League and put themselves through to
the final four.
Aurelio Vidmar will be feeling justified for his strategy of resting a majority of his players in
last week's A-League game against Sydney.
It's been an emotional couple of weeks of Adelaide's Robbie Cornthwaite.
The club's foundation defender has not only found himself unwittingly dragged into a spitting storm
but he's also been the target of abuse from his own supporters for scoring a horror own goal in the
away leg of the AFC Champions League quarter-final against Kashima Antlers
But on Wednesday night in Adelaide, Cornthwaite banished all those demons with a tie-winning headed
goal which secured a 2-1 aggregate win over the 10-time Japanese champions and a passage into the
final four.
