2012 against Adelaïde United FC (Australia).

formato que en 2007 adoptó la antigua Copa de Campeones de Oceanía, imitando a la Champions
League europea.
En esta edición 2011/12 participan ocho equipos de siete paíes, lo que demuestra un constante

First of all I should start this piece by wishing everybody a happy new year! I've been enjoying
myself over the Christmas holiday and have neglected the blog over the last few days so I need to
rectify this, starting off with a piece regarding the new Emperor's Cup winners in Japan.
FC Tokyo have done an unlikely league and cup double in Japan following their 4-2 triumph over
Kyoto Sanga in last Sunday's Emperor's Cup final.

Barcelona's 4-0 demolition of Qatar's Al-Sadd Sports Club advanced Barcelona to the Club World
Cup Championship against Santos, but the victory came at one hell of a price.

AFC Champions League title holders Al-Sadd were the surprise winners of Asia's premier club
competition and will feature in their first FIFA Club World Cup. Al Sadd, who hail from the Qatari
capital city of Doha, have a quarter-final meeting with African champions Espérance and, should
they emerge victorious, will look forward to a semi-final encounter against FC Barcelona.
As I intimated Persipura will not be entering the 2012 AFC Champions League. At least
automatically. The AFC are obviously so unimpressed by the internal dicking around in Indonesian
football that the automatic spot has been given to Buriram PEA from the Thai Premier League.
Assuming of course they win the TPL!
"I think I am not in the best condition to analyse it. At this moment, my feeling is stronger than
my reason."
Those were the words of Jorge Fossati, the coach of newly-crowned Asian Champions Al Sadd, deep in
the bowels of Jeonju World Cup Stadium on Saturday evening. The Uruguayan had just watched a
fantastic final in which his team overcame favourites and host Jeonbuk Motors thanks to a penalty
shootout.
The AFC Champions League, Asia's premier club competition has launched a channel on YouTube, the
world's largest online video community.
The sight of Gamba Osaka running out at Expo '70 Stadium tonight is unlikely to fill their fans
with hope. It's more likely to fill those in attendance with a sense of trepidation as the team
currently leading the J. League standings does battle with defending Nabisco Cup champions Jubilo
Iwata for a trophy no one genuinely wants to win.
The 2011 AFC Asian Champions League has reached the quarter-final stages with the first legs
taking place today. As has been the case in recent years South Korean clubs feature prominently in
the last eight of the competition with FC Seoul, Suwon Samsung Bluewings and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors
involved this time.
Al-Hilal Saudi Football Club (Arabic: نادي الهلال), usually called Al-Hilal, is a
Saudi Arabian soccer club based in the country's capital of Riyadh. The club won its 13th Saudi
Premier League title last season and was a semi-finalist in the 2010 edition of the AFC Champions
League. Manager by former German international and Hamburger SV [.
Saudi Arabia's domestic championship began this weekend with record champions Al-Hilal showing
their mettle as they came from behind to defeat Hajer Club by two goals to one whilst Al-Ittihad
warmed up for their forthcoming AFC Champions League clash with South Korean outfit FC Seoul with
an exciting 5-3 triumph over Al Tawwun.
Brisbane Roar Football Club (formerly Queensland Roar Football Club) is a professional soccer club
from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia competing in the Hyundai A-League. The Roar was the 2010/11
A-League regular season and playoff champions. As a result, the team is an automatic entrant into
the 2012 AFC Champions League.
Bunyodkor (17 played, 45 points) took a huge step towards a fourth successive Uzbek championship
title on Sunday when defeating arch rivals and nearest challengers Pakhtakor 2-1. The win took the
league leaders a massive nine points of Pakhtakor with just nine matches to play.
With over an hour of the game played it seemed a real possibility that the earlier goalless
score line in the first meeting of the two Tashkent rivals this season would be replicated.
With two-thirds of the K-League regular season completed the championship is reaching the
business end in South Korea. Unlike most footballing top-flight divisions, the K-League determines
its winners by a post-season play-off system in which the top six battle it out for the title.
With 20 of the 30 regular season rounds played only league leaders Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and
second placed Pohang Steelers seem to be virtually assured of their play-off places.
A recorded rise of 15% in TV viewers for the AFC Champions League so far this year across Asia and
the Middle East points to the growing popularity of club football in the region.
They won the league last year with a spectacular 5-1 victory at the Bung Karno Stadium in front of
45,000 of their travelling supporters. They have been frquently crowned best supporters in the
country. But now, when things ain't going so well what has happened to the famous Aremania? Check
out their recent attendances with the most home games at the top.

It would be difficult to call Mohammed Bin Hammam of Qatar an outsider as the FIFA incumbent's
sole challenger in the race to lead the world's largest sport's governing body. A member of the
FIFA Executive Committee since 1996, he's been the Asian Football Confederation president for the
past nine years.
The Round of 16 in the 2011 AFC Champions League was completed over the last two days.

Jeonbuk Motors: Speeding down Asian football's fast lane is a post from: Just Football
With the 2011 Asian Champions League knockout phase kicking off this week, Mehdi Rahnama
takes a look at one of the teams to keep an eye on in his debut article for Just
Football:
The group stages of the 2011 Asian Champions League is over and it concluded
with a number of surprises, as some teams unexpectedly made it through at the expense of bigger
names knocked out early in the competition.
The group stages in the two major Asian club competitions have concluded on Wednesday and there
was plenty of tension in the air. The remaining places in the Round of 16 stages of each
competition were up for grabs and ensured some dramatic action on Matchday 6.
In the AFC Champions League there was virtually nothing left to play for in the east of the
continent as all of the qualifiers from Groups E-H were known before kick-off.

Sorry for the long absence. I've spent the past two months in Mexico and Central America and it
turned out that finding free and convenient wifi in the area wasn't so convenient. Plus, I was just
having way too much fun. (Feel free to read about the adventures
here.)
But, we're back.

Thai Premier League Co chairmain Vichit Yamboonruang said yesterday it was good that the Asian
Football Confederation found that most TPL clubs have inadequate stadiums and facilities.
AFC representatives last week inspected TLP teams' stadiums and found that only four met the
Asian football governing body's requirements.
A Singapore newspaper is reporting that of last night's near 2,000 attendance for the Albirex
Niigata v Etoile game, only 490 were paying spectators! The rest were freebies, media and security
personnel! And ballboys.
But you know what? That official attendance doesn't actually reflect the number of people who
actually went to the stadium.
Arema's Sinagporean pair, Noh Alam Shah and M Riduan, are threatening to quit the club if they
don't start getting paid on time.
Hardly the best preparation ahead of their AFC Champions League game against Jeonbuk Motors on
Wednesday.
M Fachruddin has already left the club for the same reason.
2009 Korean K-League champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Football Club is gearing up for the 2011
domestic and AFC Champions League seasons following its third place league finish in 2010. The team
has been in the news lately for signing China international Huang Bowen and has now launched its
2011 hummel home outield player and goalkeeper kits.
