There must have been a few occasions over the last three or four years or so that supporters of
the Dorset rivals Dorchester Town and Weymouth have started to believe that the two clubs may never
meet again. Weymouth's promotion to the Blue Square Premier and financial difficulties at both
clubs meant that a gap started to open between them, and as recently as two weeks ago, Weymouth's
new chairman George Rolls confirmed that the club had lost £35,000 over the previous two months
due to post not being opened.
Winter has suddenly and not entirely expectedly descended on England this week and, predictably,
it is playing merry havoc with the football schedules on the last Saturday before Christmas. At the
time of writing, thirteen matches in the Football League have already been postponed, and it is
likely that more will follow.
