As Greeksoccer reports, Robert Kozonis, a wealthy bussiness man from Chicago is interested in becoming the main owner of AEK. This could be great for the club. He apparently has the necessary funds, and is not worried by the debt. The link discusses more details.

We got the three points here. It wasn't a pretty three points but, at this point in time, I'll take them.

Some good aspects to mention about our play today, but overall, it was not an impressive victory.

Our defence today was not the greatest, and Majstorovic and Juanfran in particular were quite poor.

AEK will play Panserraikos in the semi-finals in the Greek Cup after the team from Serres managed to get a 3-2 away win yesterday evening against Panathinaikos.If we advance to the finals we will face either Olympiakos or Asteras Tripolis. Panserraikos will play AEK this weekend as well for the championship.

Greek Americans rejoice! GolTV seems to have successfully bid for the US broadcasting rights of at least some Europa League Group Stage Matches.

Here are the latest rumors circulating about AEK: Nikolaos Karabellas, 24-year-old left back currently playing with Aris, has agreed to sign for AEK for three years. Georgios Fotikas, 27-year old Midfielder currently playing for Larissa (and formerly of Kilmarnock FC of the Scottish Premier League) is set to join AEK over the Summer as well.

Yep, you guessed it, another derby on the first matchday of the season. And AEK will once again be one of the teams playing in the derby, just like last year. And who will our opponent be? Yep, its Olympiakos!

The game is still a while away but Im sure the likes of Bajevic, Blanco, Scocco, and Kyrgiakos are waiting for their revenge after our unfortunate loss in the Greek Cup Final of 2009.

So, AEK has been on the news all day, and everyday, for the past few days. The reason why? It looks like two Cypriot investors (the identities have not yet been revealed) are going to invest a large sum of money. I can't remember the exact details but I believe one of the Cypriot investors will be investing seven million euros, another will invest two million, and the shareholders already with AEK will add another six million, meaning that overall, fifteen million euros will be invested into the team.

This weekend (Labor Day Weekend here in the May-Day-Hating United States) signals the end of the Summer. The other thing that always signals the end of Summer for me is the closing of the transfer window. It's done now, but not before we squeezed in two last signings. I meant to post this a few days ago, but better late than never:

FC Twente have captured Perparim Hetemaj from AEK Athens FC in a swap deal that takes Dutch midfielder Youssouf Hersi from the Netherlands to the Greek capital.

The club from Fylis who came back from a 3-0 defecit to tie AEK 3-3 earlier this season almost got away with a another draw, this time at OAKA. AEK had it won early, and we gave away some goals which we really shouldn't have given them but.....thats football.

Well, the deal for Gaxa, the South African right back we were previously close to signing, has fallen through. We were close to signing him at one point but his club in South Africa continued to raise their asking price until it reached one million euros. There was no way AEK was going to spend so much so instead we have signed the second right back that we were looking at, Carlos Araujo.

The UEFA Europa League Group Stage draw was released on Friday August 28, 2009. There are 12 groups of 4 teams that will play in the group stage starting on September 17th running till December 17th. Some of the interesting matchups include Celtic and Hamburg in Group C, Villareal and Lazio in Group G, and Sporting, Heerenveen, and Hertha Berlin in Group D.

An extremely disappointing result today for AEK in Giannena.

Our starting lineup consisted of Saja, Araujo, Majstorovic, Arce, Juanfran, Hersi, Guerreiro, Jahic, Manduca, Nemeth, Pavlis.

I can't comment much on the first half since I could only watch the second half, but from what I heard we saw some decent passing from the team.

The FIFA Under-20 World Cup starts tomorrow (Thursday) in Egypt, and ESPN has identified eleven players it believes will stand-out in the tournament. Among them is our own Krisztian Nemeth:

Makis Psomiadis, a previous owner of AEK who stole millions of EUROs from the club, will now face jail time. He's been sent to prison before but got out of it and I really wouldn't be surprised if he gets out of it again. Well, after a long sixteen game wait, AEK finally got its first away win of the season, as well as its first back to back wins. The team's performance overall was not wonderful, especially not compared to the performance they displayed against PAOK only a week earlier. In fact, the football that the team played brought [.

We lined up like this: Djebbour Blanco Scocco Ensaliwa Pelletieri Kafes Juanfran Georgeas Kyrgiakos Majstorovic Saja Alves came in for Juanfran, who seems to have picked up an injury, in the 24th minute.  Edinho came in for Ensaliwa and around the 63rd minute and Manduca relieved Georgeas in the 77th.

It was ten years ago to the day that AEK travelled to Serbia, which was then being bombed by NATO, as a friendly symbol to the Serbs, and as a protest against the bombings.

Well, alot has been going on with this secret letter which was released earlier this week regarding the financial status of AEK. There is so much to say that it cannot all be discussed in here, and, unfortunately, there are no links in english that I can find relating to the story.

Basically, Melissanidis will have to take over soon or the team might not make it through this.

It was a fairly confident win against PAOK this time with goals coming from Djebbour, Blanco, and Scocco. There were some questionable calls from the ref (including a red for PAOK, which I agree with but could have been avoided by PAOK) and some calls not made (including a hand ball from Kafes which wasn't called).

AEK have recently signed left-back Nikolaos Karabelas who currently played at Aris.

This is a decent transfer. The defender is 24 years old. Bajevic is already familiar with him since he coached him while at Aris. This should certainly help since both Karabelas and Bajevic know each other already.

We've continued our summer transfers after singing Romanian Ilie Iordache (Winger) and Greek Defender Kosta Manola. Manola is the 18 year old nephew of Stelios Manolas. Some are saying that siging of Kostas might conivnce Stelios to stay on board with us, after he clearly stated that he would like to leave.

So, were going to be heading to Romania on the 20th of August to play Vaslui. We will play them again on the 27th of August, this time in Athens.

A pretty good draw for us. We could have gotten Red Star from Serbia, who I believe could have caused us some trouble, but Im somewhat confident now that we will get through to the group stages.

So, we lost this one but it was not at all a bad performance by our team, and was definately the best game we've seen AEK play all pre-season. First of all, goal highlights.

Unfortunately I haven't seen a video with more highlights uploaded yet, but we had many chances, just as many if not more than Boca.

Some important comments to mention about yesterday's match.

Firstly, our to team put on a good performance. Even now more can be improved on. but it was a solid game for the most part with some enjoyable football.

This is definately a good result. On paper, Iraklis are certainly not a pushover this year with some pretty impressive signings being made for them over the summer.

Obviously not the result we were hoping for. The lads did indeed show up to play tonight but the final touch wasn't there. Creating and finishing chances is a huge part of football though, so we've only ourselves to blame (well, maybe the refs can share the blame!). I was stuck in the office for this match, but I was able to watch a low-quality stream for about twenty minutes in the second half.

45 minutes in and we're leading this one 1-0! Blanco scored a penalty (certainly the correct call) to put us up and we now are in a great position and the win is definately possible.

Conditions are terrible in Minsk. It is extremely cold (near zero degrees celcius) and the pitch is extremely wet.

Well, our night went from good to about as bad as it could get. As you can see from the post below we were up 1-0 at half time.

The second half started and early on Majstorovic gets his second yellow and is sent off and Bate tie the game. So, one of our key players is sent off, the pitch condition is deteriorating (and it was disgusting to begin with) and we were loosing the control over the game we had before.

After a pretty good performance by AEK, we are up 1-0 from a Manduca header off of a fine cross from Karabelas. Some great chances for us, including one with Manduca and one with Blanco. Ergotelis started stronger but we picked up the tempo around the 20th minute and we are now dominating for the most part.

So, as is typical with AEK, we blow an early 1-0 lead and end up with a draw (today, the match against PAS, the Cup Final, the match with BATE).

My stream today was poor quality, so I can't comment as much as I could have. But basically what we saw throughout the match was that we had many chances, yet we only scored one of them.

It turns out that AKE will not be signing Argentinian Matias Lequi in the end after he refused to undergo medical tests and was insulted by the fact that Bajevic requested he train with the club once before anything gets signed.
