Here are several important updates for subscribers to Fox Soccer Channel, GolTV and ESPN2:
- The ratings for last Saturday's Liverpool against Burnley match on ESPN2 (10am
ET kickoff) were a 0.2, according to Nielsen. The game was watched in 196,041 households for a
total viewing audience of 253,779,
- Fox Soccer Channel will offer a free preview of its network on the following
cable networks in areas of the country between September 14-20: Comcast Denver, Comcast Fort Wayne,
Comcast Indianapolis, Comcast Portland, Comcast Salt Lake City, Comcast Seattle, Cox Phoenix, Cox
Tucson, Time Warner Columbus and Time Warner Kansas City,
- GolTV has acquired the TV rights to many of the Europa League matches.
This, courtesy of GolTV, is the sweetest sight I've seen in a while:

Greek Americans rejoice! GolTV seems to have successfully bid for the US broadcasting rights
of at least some Europa League Group Stage Matches.
This weekend (Labor Day Weekend here in the May-Day-Hating United States) signals the end of the
Summer. The other thing that always signals the end of Summer for me is the closing of the
transfer window. It's done now, but not before we squeezed in two last signings. I meant to
post this a few days ago, but better late than never:
FC Twente have captured Perparim Hetemaj from AEK Athens FC
in a swap deal that takes Dutch midfielder Youssouf Hersi from the Netherlands to the Greek
capital.
Rafa should trust more to youth.
Liverpool youngster Daniel Ayala is hungry for more opportunities after a brief taste of
Premier League football.
The Spanish defender played in Liverpool's first two games of the season after Martin Skrtel and
Daniel Agger were struck down by injuries.
Currently on loan at AEK Athens, 20 year Liverpool striker Krisztián Németh put in an excellent
man of the match performance against Atromitos last week.
Németh came on as a substitute in the 29th minute and showed composure, skill, strength and an end
product when he provided the assist for Ismael Blanco to score the winning goal.
The Toffees swept past Greek outfit AEK with a minimum of effort.

Liverpool starlet Daniel Ayala has spoken of his delight at breaking into the Reds' first-team
squad and is eager to get more playing time as soon as possible.
The 18-year-old Spaniard took full advantage of injuries to Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger and came
on as a substitute in the opening game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur before starting at
Anfield as Rafael Benitez's men comfortably beat Stoke City 4-0.
Given the paucity of options we have in attack, where Voronin in somehow still given a run out
and we have little or no cover for the mesmeric Fernando Torres, I found it odd that we loaned out
Krisztián Németh to AEK Athens and now seeing him produce this bit of magic (see below) makes me
believe he would be better off back at Anfield.
With the Europa League group stages starting today, it will likely translate into European
action on a regular basis for Fulham and Everton regulars Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard. However,
Dempsey is set to miss Fulham's opener against CSKA Moscow due to an injury. With Roy Hodgson set
to rest a number of regular starters, there's a chance -- however slight -- that Eddie Johnson
might see some action today against the Russian club.

Rodwell: Poise, Maturity & Culture
It wasn't the strongest or most organised of European opposition but that wasn't the fault of
Everton.
The rather convoluted route to a Europa League final derided with an experimental overpopulation
of match officials has sometimes brought the validity of the event into question.
What does 4 matches played, 1 win, 3 losses, a -6 goal differential get you?
19th position in the English Premier League table.
When you're Everton and you finished 5th last season, this isn't exactly where you'd expect to be
and I suppose panic might be an appropriate response, but it really isn't.

action on a regular basis for Fulham and Everton regulars Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard. However,
Dempsey is set to miss Fulham's opener against CSKA Sofia due to an injury. With Roy Hodgson set to

Tim Howard was the only yank to take the field in the Europa League, as Everton cruised to an easy
victory over Greek pushovers AEK Athens on Thursday evening.
They Think It's All Over... draws three conclusions from this week's European action.
Everton rolled over AEK Athens on Thursday, winning 4-0 with goals from Joseph Yobo (10th), Sylvain
Distin (17th), Steven Pienaar (37th), and Jo (82nd). Tim Howard needed one save for the shutout,
but the end of the game didn't go as smoothly. With Athens playing a man down from the 55th when
Carlos Araujo was sent off, Everton was also shown red in stoppage time.
