Liverpool linked with Emile Heskey
England striker Emile Heskey has been linked with a January move back to Liverpool.
Tim Howard was in goal and picked up the shutout, as Everton qualify for the Europa League's
knockout stage with a 1-0 win over AEK Athens. Diniyar Bilyaletdinov scoring the game's only goal
in the 6th-minute. Howard had nine saves on the night at a rainy Olympic Stadium. The win
guarantees them no worse than second-place in Group I.
The UEFA Europa's League wraps up its group stage on Thursday, December 17, 2009 with the last
set of matches. The first and second place teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage
along with eight teams from the UEFA Champions League. The knockout stage begins with the round of
32 in February and concludes with the final on May 12, 2010.
The Europa League takes center stage in Europe this week with Tim Howard and Everton visiting AEK
Athens on Wednesday while Clint Dempsey and Fulham host CSKA Sofia on Thursday.
