MLS Power Rankings (03/22): Another season will soon begin (or so I
hope, since I am writing this post on March 13, 2010). That means multitudes of MLS fans and soccer
journalists will be proffering up their power rankings. Now, these rankings don't mean a damn
thing, but they are still fun to concoct so we can gauge how well we know the league and its
teams.
The new college soccer season is starting, and here's a list of many of the top seniors. This was
put together from looking at last season's awards, this year's preseason all-americans, and other
various lists. Let me know what you guys think. I don't watch much college soccer, so I could
easily be leaving somebody good off.
Disregard the question in the title because we know that ain't gonna happen. I know that there has
been talk lately about Johnson and Adu making a last ditch effort to impress Bobby Blue Eyes before
the May camp but c'mon now, it ain't happenin'. Let's just let it go.
Regardless, the Yank duo did it right today in Greece with the GAM scoring a brace with The Biggest
Midget in the Game™ providing an assist.
The January transfer window for European club teams has already seen two Americans switch clubs, at
least for the time being, and surprise surprise... they're going to the same team. Just when you

Freddy Adu's professional playing future is once again up in the air, and his next club
destination is unknown.
What is clear is that he won't be joining Swiss club Sion. After a short trial this week, the
team decided that it would pass on the chance to add the 21-year-old.

Did American Eddie Johnson really score a late goal for Greek side Aris Salonika on Sunday? Did

In this monthly segment, we attempt to answer the question, "Who should we take to South
Africa?" Rather than taking the standard approach (doing our best to guess who Bob
will take to South Africa), we focus on who we think Bradley
should take.
It's astonishing how much one game a friendly at the end of a four-year cycle, no less made us
re-think our final roster of 23.
There is loose talk of The Biggest Midget in the Game
™ making a move to Southampton. 6
years ago the Saints were basking in the warm, champagne-soaked glow of the Premiership; now they
wallow upon the stale beer-stained floor that is League One.
I know Freddy would love to play in England but c'mon man, if he does this there is no way to
deflect the "Adu is washed up" talk (which I personally don't agree with).
The Hosts: Marcus Hahnemann & Cobi Jones, welcome to your surprise joint
birthday party. And, yes Cobi, you unlike Mr. Adu the other day actually are getting a joint for
your birthday. Don't smoke this spliff until your real bday tomorrow, alright bud? Ah, I know you
won't wait!
This match isn't, as Gary Lineker insists twice, just for "you Americans and Algerians."
England's struggles to date have turned this into a tight group where three teams need a win, so
the natural choice for the neutral is surely the match with two of them. Such are the vagaries of
the group that both sides are likely to still need the win right to the end, which could only help
the entertainment value.
