The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) today announced Brazil's preliminary squad for the
World Cup in South Africa. 23 players have made the provisional squad. The CBF will also release
details of a further seven ‘reserves' over the next day or so. Brazil will begin training in
Curitiba on the 21st of this month and Dunga has until June 1st to finalize the 23 players he'll be
taking to the World Cup.
So your favourite Churrascaria King, Adriano, wants you to know that he never
used drugs in his life and is annoyed that people are throwing all these unjust accusations at him!
Relax, mano... tudo é bom. You know that Senhor Mourinho still keeps
your file at home and occasionally sifts through it when he's not on Skype with
Z-Ibracadabra!
Thierry Henry to MLS? ... a rumor to believe. And that makes one in a row.

Coming soon to an MLS rumor near you: Ronaldinho.
After getting attacked outside a bank by angry Palmeiras fans back in December, Vagner Love was
released from his loan with the club and has now joined Flamengo on a temporary basis from CSKA
Moscow.
Love called the move "the dream of a lifetime" and, as you can see, he wasn't just being
nice.
Brazil will take on Argentina in Doha, Qatar next month. For his fourth game in charge, Mano
Menezes has called up 23 players. AC Milan's in-form Ronaldinho Gaúcho has been given a recall.

The world of football looked on with eyes wide and mouths agape yesterday as a plethora of World
Cup squads named provisional rosters for this summer's tournament in South Africa. Fabio Capello
kicked off the surprises early by including names such as Adam Johnson and Michael Dawson, and
throughout the day more and more surprises were named by the world's top teams.
After just missing out on their first Scudetto since 2001 (much to the dismay of Sabrina Ferilli
fans), Italian Serie A giant AS Roma is primed for another season of league and UEFA Champions
League action. The Giallorossi are currently in pre-season training and have signed mercurial
Brazilian international Adriano.
Dunga and Jorginho
Dunga has called up 22 players to face the Republic in Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on 2nd
March.
AC Milan's Ronaldinho Gaúcho has been left out once again and is now unlikely to be called up
for the World Cup. Ronaldinho's last appearance for his country was in April last year against
Peru.
- For those of you wondering what Gerard Pique is up to now that the World Cup is over, he's in
Ibiza with none other than... Cesc Fabregas, naturally. They're on a vacation that revolves around
beaching and boating, and you know what that means – hot waterside photos of the two. There are
already some shots of Pique on the boat in question, looking great if you can look past the puffy
pink shorts; you could also get your Pique fix from this video.
It's time to celebrate this week's Sunday Señor but seeing
that it's Carnival, Valentine's and Lunar New Year weekend (for all our
amigos chinos!)... we're putting el futbol aside to share some
fantastic photos from Brasil and parts of Europe!
Why so serious, tipo? Worrying about when Dopey will call you up next?
Não se preocupe, ele ainda está pensando ... and yes, there isn't much change to the
official 'camisa da selecao' although Pato claims that
it's a lot lighter in texture.
Well, if Brazilian fans can't see legendary Ronaldinho in this summer's World Cup, young 18
year-old Neymar may be able to make up for it.
During Santos' 8-1 beat down on Guarani, Neymar impressed once again finding the back of the net
five times.
Despite Ronaldinho's Serie A success, it is unlikely that he will be making another World Cup
appearance this summer.
This photo of Ibrahimovic and Piqué holding hands looks very romantic...

All smiles for Brazil
Brazil take on the Republic of Ireland this afternoon in their last fixture before the World Cup
in South Africa. Coach Dunga has said that the time for experimenting is over and that he has
already decided the majority of 23 players he'll be calling up later this year.
Robinho on target
Goals in each half gave Brazil a 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in the Emirates stadium. A
Keith Andrews own-goal just before the end of the first period put the Brazilians ahead. But there
was nothing fluky about the second. A very well-worked move involving Kaká, Grafite and Robinho
ended in the latter sweeping the ball home.
Adriano is finally settling down! Of course, compared to fetuses like Pato, his
impending marriage to samba dancer (naturally), Joana Machado seems a little
unexpected. She'd better be careful, because he was supposed to marry Cassia Menega last year...
and look what happened.
While the transfer market hasn't been too busy with big signings, it's slowly been spreading
that two big strikers will be moving to the Serie A for next season. Ibrahimovic and Adriano could
be returning to the league which made them famous, but to different teams. The two ex-Inter Milan
players also find themselves in very different situations, one returning from a high, and one from
a low.
By Dominic Vieira, writing from Portugal
The return of a legend? Adriano is on the brink of completing a shock return to the Serie A,
where he transformed into a top class striker and earned the nickname ‘The Emperor'. The
Brazilian striker will join league runners-up AS Roma and declared that he had unfinished business
to resolve in Italy.
Adriano and Flamengo confirmed that he is leaving the club and that he'll join AS Roma in the next
30 days.
He has had a mixed spell at Flamengo. Initially arriving as the almight Emperor and promising
titles, the player's disciplinary problems showed through quickly. He missed 14 sessions of
training alone in 2010.

Frank Lampard has played his entire club career in England, but that hasn't stopped him from
thinking of possibly joining MLS.
In what is expected to be a three-year deal, Adriano has returned from Brazilian club Flamengo
to Italy. However, this time, he will be in the nation's capital instead of in Milan, joining the
Giallorossi, who are looking to build off a brilliant 2009-2010 Serie A campaign. ‘The
Emperor', who is still only 28-years-old, had been granted a free transfer by Inter to move to
Brazil.
Felipão - the coach should be returning to Palmeiras this week
With the World Cup out of the way, the Campeonato Brasileiro is set to restart this Wednesday
evening.
Many clubs took the opportunity to rejig their personnel. Only seven rounds were played before
the break, but eight teams (Atlético Paranaense, Atlético Goianiense, Avaí, Ceará, Cruzeiro,
Internacional, Palmeiras and Vasco) have already swapped coach.

Luiz Antonio Venker Menezes, or simply Mano Menezes, has become the new coach of the Brazilian
national team and the former coach of Corinthians was actually the second choice for the job
following Fluminense club's head coach Muricy Ramalho's rejection of the honor earlier in the
week.
Mano will likely continue on a similar path as coach Dunga considering the former footballer was
also a defensive minded player during his career in the 1970's and early 1980's.
Barca's squad is certainly suffering right now, as almost all the players are off to join their
national teams:
- Victor Valdes, Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, David Villa, Pedro:
Spain (vs Mexico)
- Dani Alves: Brazil (vs USA)
- Lionel Messi: Argentina (vs Ireland)
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Sweden (vs Scotland)
Returning loan-outs:- Alex Hleb: Belarus (vs Lithuania)
- Martin Caceres: Uruguay (vs Angola)
UEFA U-21 Championship:- Bojan Krkic, Jeffren Suarez: Spain (fixtures here)
This can't be good for the Barca's Spaniards since they join their national team straight from
vacation, but word is that they will only play fifteen minutes of the game.
New signing Javier Mascherano took part in his first training session with Barcelona yesterday
morning, albiet one that lacked most of the players from the senior squad seeing as they're away on
international duty.
Mascherano, who arrived a half hour early to the Ciutat Esportiva, sat down to the team breakfast
with Maxwell, Adriano, Keita, Abidal, Alves, Pinto and twenty-five B-teamers, before being ushered
out to the training pitch by Adriano and Alves to work with his new coach for the first time.
Wow, that's all I can say seeing some of the transfers that have gone through in the past few
days. While there aren't too many "big" names which moved around, there's are certainly some
interesting, young and skilful players which are going to be wearing new jerseys this season. Let's
see some of the signings that clubs have made, and how they'll affect the Serie A, and maybe
European competitions.

Eduardo makes an emotional return to Arsenal with a Shakhtar side I know very little about. The
Crozilian might not get a start and that tells me the Ukrainian side have a strong squad. They've
won both their Champions League games so far and have won 15 out of 17 in their domestic league.
Put simply, they're a strong European side and anything less than a fully focused performance can
see us drop crucial points.
