It is finally official, Denilson is going to Dallas. After months of negotiations, the two sides
have reached an agreement that will see the World Cup winner (the fourth in MLS history) take to
the pitch as soon as his work visa is granted.
However, before he does that, FC Dallas must make room on their roster, which means trading a
senior international (SI).
With no oxygen left outside LA for reasons already discussed, I doubt this will gain notice. But
here goes...
- Just when FC Dallas is finally able to field Adrian Serioux, they lose Alex Yi to a hamstring
injury. Sucks for them, but even more for Yi, who seemed to be getting used to the whole pro-soccer
thing. In a related note, FCD versus DC United ought to be one of the games of the weekend, right?
FC Dallas will likely have Denilson available for their next game. Denilson is the latest in
the trend of using the brand new Designated Player Rule that was put into effect just this
season.
With the addition of the Brazilian to the FC Dallas roster he becomes only the 4th World Cup
winner to play in MLS. Lothar Matthaus, Branco and Youri Djorkaeff all played for the NY/NJ
MetroStars.
