The Luka Modric affair last summer highlighted the difference in wage structures between Spurs and some of our Premiership rivals and while the club has gone on to show the Croatian that he is better off from a playing point of view where he is, that structure may still need to be addressed.

With yesterday's FA Cup tie quickly glossed over and forgotten for the time being, attention has already turned to Sunday's North London derby with news that Tottenham's injury problems are getting much worse.

Yesterday saw the return of last year's match winner Younes Kaboul but that was about the only piece of good news amidst reports that Luka Modric, BAE and Emmanuel Adebayor are all doubts for next Sunday's clash.

If the reports from earlier today are true, then Spurs could be scrapping any thoughts of negotiating a permanent deal for Emmanuel Adebayor and turning their attentions elsewhere. Ade's wages have been reported as being between £170,000 and £200,000 a week and that has always been the likely stumbling block for any permanent transfer.

Moving forward in a positive fashion today and the news surrounds our on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor and reports that he is looking to engineer a deal that will keep him at White Hart Lane. Ade has been our most prolific striker and while there were talks of another loan deal for next season, many thought that the player's future might depend on whether we were playing Champions League football in 2012-13.

There are injury concerns over Scott Parker ahead of tonight's match with the Baggies but our midfield general is just one of a host of players that Harry may take a chance on this evening. It's thought that both Ledley King and Aaron Lennon are in with a chance of returning to the side tonight as Harry looks to put a bit of impetus back into Spurs' league campaign.

For much of this season Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has argued that his options up front come down to a straight choice between Rafael van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe. Almost without exception, the manager comes down on the side of the Dutchman but is it time to give JD a run in the side, even if it's at the expense of Adebayor up front?

The big news to come out of White Hart Lane this week surrounds Scott Parker who remains extremely doubtful for tonight's clash. Speaking yesterday at his press conference, manager Harry Redknapp said,

"Scott is struggling," said Harry. "He's doubtful, in fact, he's very doubtful.

"We've one or two injuries.

It's all too easy to point the finger when a striker isn't finding the net but you can be sure that the newspapers won't shy away from targeting criticism towards a misfiring centre forward. Step forward the Guardian who are aiming a lot of flak in the direction of Emmanuel Adebayor.

The report suggests that the Togolese has simply ‘gone off the boil' and part of the story states,

‘Gradually, Adebayor's form has dipped – he has scored once in the past seven league matches – and even though he found the net against Wolves only to have the goal disallowed for a debatable offside, this was perhaps his most ineffective game of the season as he continually found himself in the wrong place and the wrong time.

It's widely expected that Louis Saha will make his Spurs bow this evening as there are injury doubts concerning Jermain Defoe, Rafael van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor. However, these are only doubts and as we've seen before this season, these worries have a habit of failing to materialise.

Newcastle were treated to a five star performance from Spurs as we despatched five goals without reply. The first came after some quick passing between Bale and Ade, the latter sending a cross along the six yard box, Benny unmarked on the far side, steamed in and blasted the ball into the net. 1-0

VDV has been missing since limping out of the 3-1 win over Wigan at the end of last month but he told the Independent today that he expects to be fit for Sunday.

At the start of the week, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp painted a rather grim picture of injury issues in the Tottenham squad but after Rafael van der Vaart declared his readiness for the Arsenal game on Sunday, Emmanuel Adebayor has also announced that he hopes to be fit to face his former club.

This might have been a good week to play Stevenage in the cup but as it is, Spurs have to try and bounce back from Sunday's defeat with a positive result against Manchester United on Sunday. Several players are voicing the need to stay ‘focused' and avoid the flat feeling that is accompanying some of the fans at the moment.

Spurs currently seem to be going through the obligatory run of bad luck. For the second time in as many weeks, we've had a goal bound shot blocked by one of our players, put into the net, and then chalked off for some sort of infringement. Against Stevenage it was Parker offside on the line, last night Lennon skipped past makeshift right back Jones and then passed to Saha, who hit Adebayor's hand with the resulting shot before Ade back heeled it into net himself.

The big team news from yesterday's press conference was that Aaron Lennon is definitely ruled out of this evening's sixth round cup tie while Emmanuel Adebayor is an additional doubt with a hamstring strain. There is a juggling of priorities to be done here and if there is any concern over Ade then maybe he should be sitting this one out.

One of the transfer talking points in relation to Spurs in recent months relates to the future of on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togolese made an instant impact in his first game, scoring at Wolves and striking up a useful partnership with Jermain Defoe in attack.

Rankings in the press today suggest that this is a close decision between Gareth Bale and Emmanuel Adebayor. The Togolese ultimately scored the two goals that won the game but Bale was behind much of Spurs best play and earned the praise of his manager after the match.

There are conflicting reports this morning with regards to the rumoured training ground bust up involving Emmanuel Adebayor at the weekend with suggestions by our old friends the Daily Mail that the Togolese striker is set to be frozen out of the club as the season draws to a close.
According to the suggestion in the Mail, Spurs still hadn't ruled out a permanent transfer for Ade despite recent reports that they had given up all hope of negotiating a compromise deal on his current wage structure.

There is good news and bad news in the Spurs defence for tomorrow as Younes Kaboul looks set to return while BAE misses out for the rest of the season.

"Younes is okay, he trained well today, so that's a big bonus for us," reported Harry "Ade also trained and he's fit as well."

Adebayor is said to have had a hamstring injury for the QPR game and whether that is true or not, Harry's comments seem to suggest that the Togolese will come back in.

An early goal from Ade and a second half one from Defoe gave us the win in a match that was largely a procession. It meant that with Marton Fulop making some awful mistakes over at West Brom, we stayed fourth and are now waiting on the Champions League final before our season can be declared as over.

Emmanuel Adebayor's early strike in the 2-0 defeat of Fulham yesterday meant that he finished the season with 18 goals in 36 appearances but will this be his first and only campaign in a Lilywhite shirt?

It has seemed at times that Ade has been on the periphery of some matches but add in 11 assists and it's clear that the striker has played a significant part in Tottenham's top four finish at the end of 2011-12.

Earlier in the week we discussed the future of Emmanuel Adebayor and looked at the possibility of the player staying on at the club. Up until that point, there had only been talk of a permanent deal but manager Harry Redknapp hinted that another season long loan was a possibility.

"It is up to the chairman if we could loan him again.

Around 12 months ago the asking price for Italian striker Giuseppi Rossi was around £30m but what a difference a year can make in football. Injuries and an unexpected relegation for his club side Villarreal has got the rumour mills speaking in terms of around £10m for his services.

While these suggestions continue however, the player himself is likely to be out until December 2012 at least.

Jermain Defoe has been speaking about his future at Spurs and concedes that while he doesn't want to leave, he is concerned about the amount of playing time that he is getting at White Hart Lane.

JD was kept on the bench for much of the season behind Harry's preferred pairing of Emmanuel Adebayor and Rafael van der Vaart and whether Ade stays or Spurs bring in a new striker, Defoe's situation is unlikely to improve in 2012-13.

Reports are emerging today that suggest Spurs will not be retaining the services of Louis Saha after his six month contract at White Hart Lane expires. There has been some controversy over the player after his pro-Chelsea Champions League comments but perhaps the club would be inclined to disregard that and make a decision purely on footballing reasons.
