Robin Van Centerforward?

Arsenal View From a Gooner 03 November @ 08:52 AM EST

It always feels good to see Spurs lose, especially if we're the one that beat them

If Arsenal were to win anything this season, Robin Van Persie's contribution to it would be very very vital. If Fabregas is the fulcrum of the side and the player others look for the ammunition, then RVP will the one looking to be at the end of those supplies.

Ar5sena1: 3 T0tt3nham: 0

Avenell Road 02 November @ 07:00 AM EST

Remember when the Spuds beat our Carling Cup team 5-1 and every blog we went on all we saw was this new way of writing Ar5ena1? Well I have just thought of a new way of spelling T0tt3nham ..
I hope it sticks for a while..

All I have heard on the radio since Saturday is Arsenal only beat the Spuds because they had a load of injuries.

Cesc Fabregas Claims the Armband

EPL Talk 31 October @ 01:11 PM EST

Every summer sees rampant speculation that Barcelona will finally pull Cesc Fabregas away from Arsenal. Â In the lead up to Saturday's North London Derby, even former Gunner Emmanuel Adebayor once again fueled rumors by saying that if Arsenal fail to qualify for the Champions League, then Fabregas will be on his way to Catalunya come summer.

We knock Liverpool out – Citeh next round anyone? – Merida’s contract

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 29 October @ 09:00 PM EST

Alright all,

I'm still half dying from Swine Flu here, its horrible I tell you, absolutely bloody horrible. Anyway, it didnt stop me from watching the lads the other night and what a great game it was, I really enjoyed it. It was entertaining and you got that feeling that anything could happen at any time.

International Break News (Yawn)

The Offside - Arsenal 07 October @ 10:01 AM EST

Sigh. International breaks are so boring. Not too much going on in the lead up to the games over the weekend, but a few things have popped up so I thought I'd do a roundup/link dump of what's been going on this week.

First, Adebayor said he "regrets" stomping on former teammate Robin van Persie's face last month.

The Magnificent 10 (and Diaby).

Avenell Road 05 October @ 12:44 PM EST

Jonjon's view on Yesterday's game.

I had to talk about the game as I was about to burst inside..

That was magnificent, that performance showed many aspects of the new improved 2009-10 team...

A while ago, I think it was Ave and me that talked about the fact that if we learned to finish off our chances we dont need to worry about defending.

A message to Harry Redknapp; Keep it shut!

Wrighty7 03 October @ 05:02 AM EST
I wanted to write this the other day when I actually read a piece that Harry 'check out my eye-bags' Redknapp wrote in his column in the Sun newspaper. My apologies for it being later than a London bus.
He seems to have a massive opinion on Adebayor-gate and my advice to him is to keep his mouth shut. Click to continue reading...

I’ll give you abuse, Ade + Injury news

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 02 October @ 07:02 AM EST

So, two people seemed set on trying to steal the spotlight away from Arsene Wenger on his big day yesterday.

I will deal with the grotty little being that is Emmanuel Adebayor first poor Emmanuel, (he is named after an angel, you know?) received so much nastiness from those horrid traveling Arsenal fans on that fateful day at Middle Eastlands that it created this massive force field that dragged poor Manu the entire length of the pitch and forced him to his knees, just short of those horrible, mean, beastly Arsenal fans who were saying they liked a little Russian man more than him.

The Beautiful Game (2) 29 September @ 04:56 PM EST
Lot of American/MLS influence today:
  • Ade Akinbiyi to Notts County?
  • Speaking of which, did New York pass on Sol Campbell?
  • Is Roy Keane and Ipswich also interested in the waffling veteran?
  • De Rosario to get a new deal?
  • Houston gave Brian Ching one?

Here comes the Judge

OK Football Finder 25 September @ 03:50 AM EST

Hear ye! Hear ye! The court is in session, Judge Longshot presiding.

A fortnight back, the right honorable Mickey Marbles told you how outraged he was that that poor Paddy Kenny was getting 9 months without football for forgetting to read the ingredients on some medicine.

Well, I wonder if anyone will be handing out 9 months for Ade's stamp on Van Persie, Diouf's racist faux Pas or Bellamys doh-boy on a supporter, the greatest ever example of the sh*t hitting the fan.

There is now a game mimicking Adebayor’s celebration

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 21 September @ 07:59 PM EST

Someone with an awful lot of time on their hands has created something of a monster... a game where you can be Adebayor.

You basically have to run, stamp on van Persie's head and then slide to your knees in-front of the Arsenal fans, give it a try, for some reason I didn't seem to do very well.

Proof that Emmanuel Adebayor Is Insane: Crazy Antics on Last Day at Arsenal!

Caught Offside 20 September @ 05:18 AM EST

Weird!

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR'S feud with Robin van Persie began last season when he walked off with his strike partner's boots.

And the disgraced Adebayor will add insult to injury by dragging Van Persie into his battle with the FA.

The City striker was banned for three matches for raking Dutchman Van Persie's face with his studs during last week's explosive clash with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger on Marouane Chamakh, “We might reconsider the positionâ€

The Gunning Hawk 19 September @ 12:00 AM EST

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed the Gunners were close to sign Marouane Chamakh last summer and he may make a new offer in January, if required.

The Frenchman said:

He is a player we were close to signing. But at the moment we have lost a little bit of touch with him because there is no transfer period now.

Exclusive: What REALLY happened in the stands against City

The Goon Blog - an Arsenal blog. 18 September @ 06:12 AM EST

I have managed to get hold of one Arsenal fan that was in the stands, directly at the front when everything kicked off against City after Adebayor's goal celebrations.

As it turns out, the 'Elephant' song, as it is being coined in the press, was not sung in the stands at all. It was the 'Arshavin version'.

Adebayor gets a three game ban

Soccerblog 17 September @ 07:59 PM EST

Well deserved. There is also the improper conduct charge which is still pending. Adebayor did not contest the violent conduct charge. He is expected to defend himself on the improper conduct charge by putting the onus on the fans.

Cesc Fabregas also reveals that Adebayor gashed him on the calf.

Adebayor hit with "violent conduct" charge

Soccerblog 15 September @ 08:08 AM EST

Hit with violent conduct has a nice "violent" feel to it, doesn't it? Kind of an eye for an eye.

Anyways, this is the first part of the FA investigation and the most appropriate one in my mind. Its an open and shut case. The other is the instigation of the Gunner fans with his over the top celebration.

Adebayor charged by the FA

Arsenal Insider 15 September @ 08:07 AM EST

Despite the pathetic attempts of mark Hughes to distract people from the main point of issue, and in an effort to draw a line under the incident on the Manchester City Website, the authorities have taken a stance which indicates they will be making an example of Adebayor.

Mark Hughes said:

"There has been much discussion over the weekend regarding the various incidents in Saturday's game which is understandable, Emmanuel Adebayor sustained a tremendous amount of personal abuse from the kick-off but strongly maintains that there was no malice intended in the challenge on Robin Van Persie and apologised to him when he hugged him on leaving the field of play at the end of the game.

Josh’s eye witness account of the City game

Arsenal Insider 15 September @ 06:30 AM EST

I went to the game on Saturday and decided to post some thoughts on the game as a travelling Gooner; there is only one place to start. Adebayor has now become the most hated figure amongst Arsenal fans, even more so than Ashley Cole. When Adebayor turned towards the Arsenal fans before his 90 yard gallop, he made himself enemy no.

Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie Responds Badly to Man City Striker Adebayor’s Apology

Adebayor, God, and karma; philosophy and football after a hammering.

Goonerboy 14 September @ 10:12 AM EST
Well that was a bit of a kick in the teeth, wasn't it?
I felt sure, so sure (to quote Take That) that the universe would be aligned in our favour for the game on Saturday. That we would hold the moral high ground with our system of breeding young talent against city's collection of hideously over-paid egomaniacs. Click to continue reading...

He Never Ran Like That for £80,000 a Week.

Avenell Road 14 September @ 09:37 AM EST

I have to give Mark Hughes his due, Arsene Wenger couldn't get Adebayor to play like he did on Saturday even though he doubled his wages, as Johnny Lydon once wrote "Anger is an Energy" and it obviously motivated Ade into the best game he has ever played.
I was angry at first at his goal celebration, mainly because he should not have been on the pitch to score a goal, but now I think it is quite funny to think that us Arsenal fans caused him so much pain that he tried so hard to get one over on us.

Man City have their first inkling of what Ade is all about

Soccerblog 14 September @ 08:53 AM EST

A three match ban at the least should settle the fact that Ade came to City to play in their best interest. No, its about him. A personal score to settle with fans which spills over to the players that were his former team mates. A fat paycheck.

Here he shows why he still lives in a bubble.

Adebayor is endearing

Dirty Tackle 13 September @ 06:09 PM EST

After scoring an unnecessary goal in Man City's eventual 4-2 win over Arsenal on Saturday, Emmanual Adebayor, who has been publicly stewing over how Arsenal fans stopped liking him when he started expressing interest in other clubs' money, ran the length of the pitch in order to tauntingly celebrate in front of the visiting Arsenal supporters section.

I actually feel sorry for Emmanuel Adebayor....

Wrighty7 13 September @ 12:27 PM EST
.....because he was obviously dropped on his head as a baby.
I often wonder if over the years he has developed a form of dementia. He seems to be very very deluded. I'm sorry if I offend anyone with dementia. Being compared with Adebayor may seem insulting but it is the only way I can describe his ramblings, especially his attempt at an apology. Click to continue reading...

The FA needs to take immediate action against Ade

Soccerblog 13 September @ 08:13 AM EST

Above is the photographic evidence of Adebayor's malice. As if there was any more reason needed why he is not missed at Arsenal. Also, to make sure, he left because he was getting more money, so to slag Arsenal fans for his move is pure projection. But that was not the extent of Ade's imprint as he went after Cesc in the first half.

April 24, Adebayor…a date for your diary

Arsenal Insider 13 September @ 05:45 AM EST

by CARL ELDRIDGE April 24, 2010. A date for your diary. A date for Emmanuel Adebayor's diary. Yes, you guessed correctly. It is the day when Manchester City and Mr Adebayor pay a visit to the home of football.

His indefensible actions yesterday in front of the travelling Gooners in the 4-2 defeat at Eastlands are sure to have an impact on the kind of reception the Togo tosser can expect, wouldn't you say?

Manchester City 4-Arsenal 2

The Offside - Arsenal 12 September @ 12:14 PM EST

Well, that wasn't very much fun. I haven't found a good "highlights" video yet, but will post it when I do.

I guess my thought is this let's not overreact. Yes, this is a bad result for us. Yes, I thought the match was pretty evenly matched, so to come out of it with 0 points. Yes, it sucks to watch Adebayor stomp a player in the face, get away with it, then score a goal and celebrate in front of Arsenal's fans (stay classy, Ade.

Adebayor’s Mouth is Open Again; Manchester City Game Thread

The Offside - Arsenal 12 September @ 08:40 AM EST

Adebayor decided to remind us all of why we sold him today ahead of the game by saying that any fans who booed him during his tenure with Arsenal are "not real fans" and "tomorrow they will support Liverpool." He just doesn't get it, does he? The relationship between supporters and players is just that a relationship.

Its time we brought Man City back down to planet earth

Gunners Today 11 September @ 06:09 AM EST
I don't have anything against City fans. These guys have suffered a lot over the last two decades. FTK explains Why Gooners should not Boo Adebayor at Eastlands

Arsenal Insider 10 September @ 06:00 AM EST

The battle for the Premiership trophy recommences in earnest on Saturday as the Gunners return to Manchester. Unlike the red half, this visit should be a little easier and despite the millions of pounds spent on Mark Hughes team, I cannot see that a bunch of mercenaries will triumph over quality.
