Miki Roque is expected to join FC Cartagena on a season long loan as the young defender tries to
put his career back on track.
One of the many young players brought to the club by Benitez in his first months in charge, Roque
progressed better than many had expected and even made his Champions League debut against
Galatasaray.
Whats a Mourinho to do when Massimo Moratti won't spend any money like you want him to do?
According to this article on Fox Sports, Inter Milan are not going any further into the transfer
market and won't be bringing in players like Frank Lampard and Ricardo Quaresma that Jose Mourinho
had targeted. I guess Roman Abramovich isn't looking so bad right now.
+ Jorge Rojas is in camp with the team, as are Pietravallo, Cichero and
Jimenez. All would like this weekends Galaxy game to be their debut, but none can be
confirmed. I guess they have 4 days of training to prove their worth.
+ George Welcome is in camp as well.
By Andrew K In Leo Bertos, Andrew Durante, Jon McKain, Leilei Gao, Troy Hearfield, Ben Sigmund,
Adam Kwasnik and David Mulligan Ricky Herbert has acquired some terrific additions to his squad for
the 2008/09 season. Leo Bertos has returned home after 2 seasons with Perth Glory, Troy Hearfield
comes across from the Newcastle Jets, and Leilei Gao returns [.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I've actually missed writing up match previews. It's been
over two months since Lyon's last competitive match, which was the Coupe de France final against
PSG. Tomorrow, Lyon will be facing off against Bordeaux in the Trophée des Champions,
otherwise known as the French Supercup.
The Wizards will try to get only their second away win of the season when they go to take on San
Jose this weekend. Not since the 1-0 win against Chicago the first away game of the season have the
Wizards taken all 3 points on the road. Since then the Wizards are 0-5-5 on the road getting only 5
of the 30 points available for them.
Well, it was quite a deadline day, wasn't it?
I think the activities that went on regarding other clubs - United's shameful flouting of almost
all transfer rules and conventions to steal Berbatov, Abu Dhabi suddenly owning Citeh, and turning
them into a major player in one fowl swoop - need to be discussed elsewhere, and in depth.
Today we're launching a news section at Albion Road. While it's admittedly a bit bare-bones at the
moment we'll be steadily expanding over the next few months to bring you more and more quality and
timely news on the world's greatest sport. We'll be focusing, at least initially, on the kind of
news that relates to the Albion Road theme.
Aston Villa's brigade of young English players looks set to expand with the transfer of Nicky
Shorey and Luke Young into the club. Martin O'Neill seems to keen to build success on a group of
English talent with players such as Gareth Barry, Nigel Reo-Coker, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashely
Young, Curtis Davies and Zat Knight to name but a few.
(This post has been in the queue for a while, and I need to complete it before moving to my
previews of the Qualifiers and the CCL. I plan on adding a couple new features to the blog, such as
reviews of restaurants I visit during my travels and soccer-related books, as well as making
belated additions to the blogroll.
Blackburn Rovers are considering a double swoop of Valencia's Joaquin and Nikola Zigic. These two
additions would greatly improve Paul Ince's side as they aim to replace the departed David Bentley
(and possibly Roque Santa Cruz if he leaves).
For those of you that aren't familiar with these two players, you soon will be.
Crew 2, Hoops 1 Dallas: Cunningham(Adrian Serioux) 35 Columbus: Carroll(Schelotto, Moreno) 62,
Evans(Schelotto) 65 Kenny Cooper and the FC Dallas Hoops came to Columbus Saturday night. Shellas
Hyndeman has added 2 new players since he replaced Steve Morrow in June. Those additions, Jeff
Cunningham and Nick Sikora, played well in Columbus, but Cunningham's lone goal wasn't enough [.
National reports are today suggesting Mark Hughes has offered a life-line to out of favor England
midfielder Shaun Wright Phillips, as the manager looks to make more additions. Shaun Wright
Phillips has always been held in high regard by the Manchester faithful, following a string of
wonderful performances having graduated from the Manchester City academy.
I'm beginning to get the feeling that Man City are going to regret letting Sven Goran Eriksson go.
He is a manager that has proven time and again at club level that he can handle a club that is
going in the direction that Man City are with their newly found money and big name additions that
we are all expecting over the course of the next year.
