Perhaps one of the reasons for my supposed illiteracy (see comments, here), is that I spend an
awful lot of my time in front of my Xbox (it rots your brains or something). I love football games.
In fact at University, I think I spent more hours playing PES 6 than I did doing my coursework.
Which possibly explains a few things.
That's me...the new kid. Here's hoping I don't get hazed. Allow me to introduce myself. My name
is Harlan Bowling, and I'm pretty much obsessed with all things FC Dallas. I didn't grow up playing
soccer, which puts me in the minority for fans in this great nation. That said, I started really
following the beautiful game in 2007, and quickly fell in love with the local team.
Following training today, United midfielder Santino Quaranta took time to speak with Behind the
Badge. Earlier this week, the good folks at ESPN released a feature chronicling Quaranta's rise
from addiction and his return to prominence with D.C. United. During preseason training in
Charleston, SC, ESPN came down to speak with Quaranta, Jaime Moreno, Ben Olsen, and others about
the midfielder's unique story.

Last week, we (indirectly) brought you a radio interview with USA Defender Jay DeMerit. This
week, it's Midfielder Maurice Edu who got on the line with local morning radio program Elliot in
the Morning. Amongst other things, Edu discussed the controversial game against Slovenia, his
momentary glee, Jozy Altidore's apparent addiction to rage-a-hol, and the upcoming match against
Algeria.
Nice night in Johannesburg for Spain. Holland's "Total Football," went missing - instead the Dutch
provided us with 9 yellow cards and a red card - in a physically brutal, stop-start final.
Spain, as we predicted (and as the octopus predicted) won their first ever World Cup.
And just like that, a month of brilliant international football - with names like Asamoah Gyan and
Luis Suarez becoming more and more prominent worldwide - is put to bed.
I know it's hard to attract anyone to watch the Ekstraklasa games after Polish clubs disastrous
performances in Europe, but I'll try nevertheless. After all, it's where a lot of national team
members play on weekly basis. It's a league where you can watch rivalry between Poznan and Warsaw,
Warsaw and Krakow, Gdansk and Gdynia or Silesia and the rest of the country.
Before working into a pant and requiring Ronaldo's oxygen tank treatment at your desk, FM is not
coming out any time soon somewhere between October and November if I recall.
However, the good people who run FM started working on 2010 about three weeks before 2010 was
released. It's a perpetual project, just like patching relationships (wife, girlfriend, boss,
etc.
