Sergio Agüero made an impressive debut for Manchester City and he scored twice and assisted on
another as Manchester City beat Swansea City 4-0.
Aguero started the game on the bench as Man City lacked that cutting edge in front of goal in
the first half. Swansea goalkeeper Michal Vorm was impressive in his debut for the Welsh site
making a string of saves while David Silva and Gareth Barry both hit the crossbar
But eventually Man City's class told in the 57th minute when Vorm failed to hold Adam Johnson's
curling effort into the path of Džeko, who tapped in.
Liverpool stalwart Jamie Carragher says he is fine after his horror injury sustained against
Arsenal at the Emirates and insists that team-mate Dirk Kuyt is the man to deal with high pressure
situations following the Dutchman's penalty which secured a point with the final kick of the
match.
Carragher left the play in a neck-brace halfway through the second-half after an ugly clash of
heads with young full-back John Flanagan – an incident of which the 33-year-old has no
recollection.
The weekend brought morale-boosting victories for five teams in UEFA Champions League round of
16 action this week. Bayern Munich were most emphatic in their pre-second leg preparations, though
Manchester United and Olympique de Marseille passed tricky tests of their own.
England
City rivals Manchester United and Manchester City will meet in the FA Cup semi-finals after safely
negotiating their last-eight ties.
Palermo are through to the final of the Coppa Italia after beating AC Milan 4-3 on aggregate
thanks to a 2-1 second-leg win on an eventful night in Sicily.
Second-half goals by Giulio Migliaccio and a Cesare Bovo penalty gave Palermo a two-goal
cushion, which was halved in added time by substitute Zlatan Ibrahimović.
It was only a draw yesterday, but somehow it was one of the most pleasing and gutsy performances by
a Newcastle side in some time. Steven Taylor after scoring dramatic equalizer yesterday Maybe it
was helped by Newcatsle getting the dramatic equalizer from Steven Taylor with a minute to go of
added time, when [.
As soon as I pulled into Gillette stadium you could tell that this was not a regular MLS game.
Two hours before kickoff the parking lot was filling up as fans came to see the rockstars of Major
League Soccer; David Beckham, Landon Donovan and the LA Galaxy.
A crowd of 21,793 saw the LA Galaxy beat the New England Revolution 1-0.
So I'm taking this chance to get a post out before my internet breaks again (this is the first
time in a bit I've had any.)
I took the opportunity to watch Tino play his (correct me if I'm wrong) first Argentina game
against Nigeria in Abuja mid-week. The line-up fielded by Los Albiceleste was largely
second-string, as most of the first teamers were rested with the Copa America in mind.
Former Columbus Crew striker Steven Lenhart scored his first goal of the season
which helped the Earthquakes to a 2-0 win over Houston last night. Simon Dawkins wrapped up the win
in added time with his third goal of the season.

The Carolina Railhawks' lead at the top of the NASL is now up to double digits thanks to Etienne
Barbara's offensive dominance.
The Maltese striker scored once and provided two assists in Carolina's 3-1 victory over FC Tampa
Bay in front of 4,000 fans in Cary.
Watch Bouna Condoul fumble a run of the mill grab of a corner and gift the ball to Ryan
Stephenson for San Jose Earthquakes equalizer. Last weekend he was similarly embarrassed when he
completely flubbed Marco Pappa's soft shot on goal.
Condoul's horrifically incompetent goalkeeping is a seamless transition from his predecessor
Greg Sutton's equally inept performance.
We had a wonderfully impromptu U.S. WNT watch party on the campus of Marquette University today, as
the game time was squeezed into the late morning/early afternoon before the Finals Weeks games
kicked off.
There were teams, technical advisors, YNT coaches and referees all trying to get in lunch or even
pre-game meals, not counting on there being an overtime to watch.
Squad sheets: Arsenal v Liverpool
Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool provided one of the horror moments of last season for Arsenal when
they equalised in the 102nd minute at the Emirates, and they might not get a better chance to
inflict more pain. Arsène Wenger is under siege, with his problems taking in a clutch of injuries
and suspensions, Samir Nasri, and the difficulties in making signings.
Arsenal are still a formidable force, warns Liverpool's Kenny Dalglish
• Liverpool manager defends 'fantastic' Arsène Wenger • 'They have lost Fábregas but it
will be a difficult game' With respect to Arsène Wenger, big clubs do sell big players and retain
ambition providing they reinvest on the field and not into their bank accounts.
Arsenal have reached the midpoint of this pivotal opening month. The two games thus far have
brought along gruelling performances and just about acceptable results, which in a way has been
much better than what many predicted or secretly dreaded.
On Saturday, the Gunners will take on the Scousers in a fixture that should provide a real and
reliable benchmark for both sides and an accurate initial assessment of their chances for the
season.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his fourth La Liga hat-trick of the season as Real Madrid easily swept
aside ten-man Osasuna 7-1 to move three points clear of Barcelona, who drew 2-2 at Athletic
Club.
Ángel Di María set up goals for Ronaldo, Pepe and Gonzalo Higuaín in the first half, with
Ibrahima briefly levelling the scores at 1-1 for the visitors.
An added-time header from Ciaran Clark rescued a point for Aston Villa in a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw
with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Villa, who had lost five of their previous six Premier League matches, appeared to be on their
way to a much-needed victory when Emile Heskey rose above Jeffrey Bruma to power in Stewart
Downing's cross.
AC Milan extended their lead to six points in Serie A despite a 4-4 home draw with Udinese,
though SSC Napoli will be hoping to close in on the Rossoneri when they host Juventus later.
Fans at San Siro were treated to an eight-goal thriller as Milan came from behind three times to
force a 4-4 draw.
Liverpool 2 Bolton 1 - K.Davies 43 Torres 49 Cole 90+2 Liverpool get a win, barely. Whilst
deserving the win in terms of chances made, failure to convert those chances and poor defending
required Liverpool needing a goal all the way into added time. This was far from a victory to be
proud of and [...
Danny breathes life into Bolton. A sign of what's to come?
The fire.
If you missed it, Daniel Sturridge made one hell of an impact today on his debut for Bolton. So
did Gael Kakuta at Fulham for that matter.
Nevertheless, it was Sturridge who stole the headlines, scoring the winner two minutes into
added time for Wanderers in a cagey 1-0 win at home to Wolves.
Yesterday evening I finally got around to watching the entire Newcastle United against Arsenal
match which was played almost a week ago and ended 4-4. When the game was shown on television, I
was still aboard a cruise ship off the coast of Mexico, so alas, I wasn't able to watch it live. I
did however catch the brief highlights on video.
LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Bayer Leverkusen went second in the Bundesliga table on Sunday with a 4-2
win at home to strugglers VfB Stuttgart that dropped their guests further into the relegation
battle. With bottom side Moenchengladbach beating Schalke on Sunday evening, only five points now
separate the bottom five clubs and Stuttgart, the 2007 German [.
Barcelona restored their five-point advantage over Real Madrid CF thanks to a 2-1 win against
Athletic Bilbao.
Beaten in midweek by Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie,
Barcelona took only four minutes to settle back into their stride at the Camp Nou. David Villa
provided the finish, and although Athletic levelled five minutes after half-time through Andoni
Iraola's penalty, Lionel Messi made the difference with his 25th league goal this season 12 minutes
before the end.
Tottenham Hotspur missed the chance to move to third in the Premier League when they suffered a
surprise 3-1 defeat at Blackpool.
Blackpool started brightly and opened the scoring when Sébastien Bassong brought down DJ
Campbell and Blackpool captain Charlie Adam, who was close to joining Tottenham last month, scored
from the penalty after 18 minutes.
You might have seen this last night after Andrew Oliver's goal in added time...
It was a tribute to one of Jamaica's biggest heroes, Usain Bolt, who made the pose his own at the

Omar Salgado's first career MLS goal energized his play and that of his Vancouver Whitecaps, but
Emilio Renteria was a handful for much of Saturday night's match and scored two goals of his own as
the Columbus Crew downed Vancouver 2-1 at Crew Stadium.
All four Champions League semi-finalists lost over the weekend, with Tuesday's opponents FC
Barcelona and Real Madrid beaten in the same round of matches for the first time in two years and
Manchester United following up a setback for rivals Schalke with their own loss at Arsenal. The
celebrations were able to begin for Borussia Dortmund, on the other hand, as Jürgen Klopp's men
captured the Bundesliga crown.

Football. Sometimes it's just so indescribably ludicrous. Which is what makes it so wonderful.
It looked like Liverpool had dropped points in injury time for the second-straight meeting.
There were a multitude of cup finals taking place over Europe this weekend with the biggest of
them in Holland. FC Twente Enschede put a marker ahead of their crucial championship showdown in
Amsterdam by beating Ajax in extra-time. There were also cup wins for Slovan Bratislava, Llanelli
AFC, Linfield FC and UE Sant Juli .
Manchester United - Bayern Munich Final 1999... by 91Zuzu91
The bitterest two minutes for Bayern as Utd struck back through Teddy Sheringham and the baby
faced Ole Gunnar Solksjaer in added time after victory looked inevitable. The look on Lothar
Matthaus is priceless.

The NSC Minnesota Stars defeated the Carolina RailHawks by a score of 1-0 Saturday evening in

5th of the season for Minnesota keeping them in 4th place in the standings at 5-7-3 with 22 points,
one point off from 3rd place Puerto Rico and two off from 2nd place Edmonton who sit at 24 pts.

shot from outside the penalty box.
Inspired by a tremendous performance again by Luis Suarez, produced an electrifying performance
at Anfield, Liverpool beat 3-1 to move top of the Premier League.
Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam scored their first Liverpool goals and with Downing and Suarez
in terrific form, Kenny Dalglish has his Liverpool side is looking very much like Champions League
contenders.
Traditionally, when late-August bleeds into early-September, there's usually plenty for the Revs
to attend to.
Whether its a slate of MLS games to push its postseason agenda, a SuperLiga final, or even a
pair of late-round U.S. Open Cup games, the Revs have often been a busy bunch as the unofficial end
of summer approaches.

New England Manager Steve Nicol put it best: "Both teams were as bad defensively as each
other."
In a game that featured eight goals—two by way of penalty kicks—the Union overcame a
three-goal deficit to salvage a draw at home against the Eastern Conference bottom-dwelling
Revolution on Wednesday night.
With lots of late drama last night at the City Ground in Nottingham, Newcastle again found a way
to win the game. Mehdi Abeid good game last night But it was in injury time of the added time when
captain Coloccini sent the two thousand travelling Geordie supporters into raptures, as he headed

Everton 0-2 Liverpool | Premier League match report
Watched by Fabio Capello, who names his latest England squad on Sunday, Andy Carroll picked a
good time to score his first goal of the season in the Premier League to see off a spirited
challenge from Everton, who played for three-quarters of this eventful Merseyside derby with 10
men.

Coming into the second leg of their Eastern Conference semifinal clash with the Philadelphia
Union, the Houston Dynamo knew all they needed to do to advance was to keep a clean sheet.
They did that and more Thursday night, as Brian Ching got on the end of yet another Brad Davis
free kick and the Dynamo defended brilliantly to seal a 1-0 win and a spot in the Eastern
Conference final.
The game with Sweden looks set to be the lowest attendance at the new, improved Wembley since it
opened in 2007.
And to be frank it was only a matter of time.
The stadium lacks any sort of character and that makes it an almost unplayable atmosphere for
the players because they can hear people's disgruntled whispers when things are not going to
plan.
