Raheem Sterling
Arguably the most Highly rated youngster at the Academy, Sterling was
signed from QPR on February 2010. At the age of 15, he was rewarded with a substitute appearance in
the first-team's preseason friendly match against Borussia Moenchengladbach.
It is rumored that West Ham, Bolton and Swansea have already made loan
inquiries for the 17-year-old winger.
Last Saturday, Liverpool closed out their run in the inaugural NextGen Series with victory over
Marseille in the third place game. It may not have been the final players or the fans would have
been hoping for, it was rather overshadowed by the senior match taking place on the same day, and
it was an untelevised affair played behind closed doors at Chelsea's training facilities.
Liverpool have managed to secure third place in the first NextGen series, with a 2-0 win over
Marseille. Michael Ngoo and Adam Morgan were the goal scorers.
The future is bright if we are able to progress some of these great youth players into the first
team squad in the coming seasons. I would personally like to see Adam Morgan given some premier
league game time before the season close.
The Liverpool captain netted a hat-trick in a commanding 3-0 victory over Everton at Anfield on
Tuesday night, ending the club's run of five league games without victory.
Twitter was buzzing with activity on Tuesday night as Liverpool players, ex-Reds, other
footballers and journalists took to the social-media website to acclaim Steven Gerrard's Merseyside
derby hat-trick.

The NextGen Series was always more important for the experience it would provide to Liverpool's
talented youngsters than for the chance to win a trophy, and so in the end one can only consider a
run to the quarter-finals after a testing group stage to have been a success.
Liverpool have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old attacking midfielder Joao Carlos Teixeia from
Sporting Lisbon. Teixeira will now join the likes of Raheem Sterling, Adam Morgan, Suso, David Amoo
and countless other attacking youngsters in the youth set-up, where he'll hopefully develop enough
over the next couple of years to graduate into the first team.

Liverpool legend Gary Gillespie has hailed the talent of Liverpool reserve-team striker Adam
Morgan, comparing him to goal-poacher extraordinaire John Aldridge.
Gillespie played alongside Aldridge in the 1980s, so he's well qualified to make such a lofty

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has made no attempt to hide his anger over the the ridiculous
scheduling of the club's Carling Cup game with Chelsea, accusing the Football League of being
'irresponsible and of 'devaluing' its own competition. Whilst I'm sure most fans agree with Kenny's
stance, there is an unfortunate irony to his comments that many people may have missed.
