No A-League Licence, no World Cup bid from Canberra. That's what the ACT Government are saying...and that's what I say.
Yeah, take that FFA.
Who would want a few World Cup games in Canberra in ten years time, a hefty taxpayer bill for us poor sods, more Mariners stale crumbs in the coming years, and no legacy for football in the region. Click to continue reading...

Canberra A-League bid...tick tick tick

And then there was one...from Western Sydney.
ABC Sport Tim Gavel asked Ben Buckley if Canberra was a realistic chance for the A-League's 12th spot at the National Press Club today.
FFA CEO Ben Buckley said, "We gave Melbourne (Heart) the 11th licence on Friday (last week) and the 12th spot is between Western Sydney and Canberra and we expect to make an annoncement soon. Click to continue reading...

Jon Stanhope (Foundation Member) Zed Seselja (FM) Shane Rattenbury (FM) Alistair Coe (FM) Steve Doszpot (FM and former President of Soccer Canberra) Brendan Smyth (FM) Andrew Barr (FM) all got elected to the ACT Legislative Assembly. Queensland announced a 5 games in 5 years deal yesterday. Adelaide are complaining that their city is missing out.(see below)

Why Paid-up Community Support is vital

Talking about a Canberra A-League Team last week Chief Minister John Stanhope said, "We would be prepared to provide some funding towards that start-up but we would do that only on the basis of a strong business case and evidence of very strong community support."
