This Raul Meireles goal vs Wolves came days after his first ever strike for Liverpool in the
Merseyside derby against Everton. The Meireles goal against Wolves was Liverpool's second in their
3-0 win at Molineux. Fabulous volley from Meireles- see the video below! It came early in the

A few years ago, a friend invited me to see a documentary on the New York Cosmos. I must admit. I
found the movie, Once In A Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos to be quite
entertaining. It was a cinderella story of an American soccer club that appeared out of nowhere,
did the unthinkable by signing the best player in the world and then crashed out of existence in a
larger-than-life fashion.

I don't know about you but I'm still amped from yesterday's unveiling of Faryd Mondragon and
Carlos Valdes. Sure, they were no surprise but, after a month or more of rumors, there is something
to knowing it is all finally official. If you were unable to see the players yourself at Fado, or
found that our updates from the event only whetted your appetite, you can watch the press
conference in its entirety here.
Adelaide has shown that it is a club that is serious about the A-League. Its new acquisition
Francisco Usucar stared to crush Melbourne Victory 1-4. For Adelaide this victory was about revenge
and ensuring that they reward their fans with a trophy this year - probably in the grand final,
maybe against Brisbane, maybe CCM or Gold Coast.
Now that we have the opinion of Daniel Paladini from a leading supporter of the RailHawks, we
turn to someone who has a similar background to the writers on this site: David Fellerath.
Fellerath is the culture editor for Independent Weekly, an alternative paper in Raleigh, Durham and
Chapel Hill, N.
Liverpool is reportedly on the verge of making a move for Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka.
The Croatia international - valued at €15 million by transfermarkt.co.uk - has fallen down the
pecking order at White Hart Lane and, according to the Daily Mail, has his sights set on a move
during the transfer window.
Benfica has announced on its Official website the acquisition of Olhanense central defender Jardel
Nivaldo Vieira. The 24 year old Brazilian is set to take medical exams in Lisbon and then sign with
the club until 2015/16.Jardel has appeared in all 15 games for Olhanense this season scoring one
goal and picking up four yellow cards, the acquisition of the central defender looks set to
Rumours have started to circulate that West Ham have struck a deal with Avram Grant,
paving the way for Martin O'Neill to take over. But, apparently, the West Ham boss won't be sacked
until after today's game with Arsenal and that the deal was struck on Thursday.
Grant has appeared to be a dead man walking for a number of weeks now and with nobody from the
West Ham board ever coming out to defend Grant or support his position, this has been on the cards
for some time.
This Raul Meireles goal vs Everton was the midfielder's first in Liverpool colours. The Meireles
goal against Everton gave Liverpool the lead in the Merseyside derby on January 16, 2011. The
fixture eventually ended in a 2-2 draw. Portugal international Meireles struck a powerful effort
from the edge of the area after Tim Howard had [.
FA Cup third round replays and the built-up to the next round of English Premier League action
was overshadowed this week by the shock transfer of Darren Bent, who – two days after handing in
his transfer request at Sunderland – became the newest member of Aston Villa Football Club. The
AVFC club record acquisition did not come without controversy, with accusations of tapping-up and
an acrimonious response from Sunderland supporters clouding the days after the deal's
completion.
So it looks like Harry Redknapp has pulled off yet another coup in the transfer market by
signing Everton's star midfielder Steven Pienaar on the cheap. Admittedly, his contract was going
to expire in the summer, but paying Everton a couple of million to secure his services now makes
sense. The only issue is, where exactly do we accommodate him?
Will the player acquisition of Gold Coast, CCM and Adelaide payoff?
If Brisbane win 2 of their 4 games - they will win. 4 draws may not be enough.
Minimum and Maximum points possible if all remaining games are won:
Brisbane 53 v 65 - 4 games
Central Coast 47 v 59 - 4 games
Adelaide 46 v 58 - 4 games
Gold Coast 42 v 57 - 5 games
Roar are probably underdogs now, given the circumstances.
The transfer window's winding down already, though it feels like just yesterday Liverpool was
getting hammered by Wolves at home and I was writing poor Conrad knock-offs to cope with Hodgson's
continuing employment. But back to the transfer window, and today's poll question: If you could
force one transfer through, at which position does the squad most need strengthening if it is to
move up the table and see success in Europe?

O'Brian White looks like he could end up being a significant off-season acquisition for the
Seattle Sounders.
On Thursday I will be posting a video blog from the TFC Media day, including some exclusive video
from new TFC acquisition Nathan Sturgis. But before I get to the media day the DeRo situation has
sort of blown up on this Wednesday afternoon/evening. I was lucky enough to attend the press
conference Wednesday and the event itself, with questions asked and questions answered, was not the
only interesting thing about it.
Liverpool are reportedly considering reviving their interest in Saint-Etienne midfielder Blaise
Matuidi.
According to The Times, the Merseysiders are closely monitoring the France international as a move
for Charlie Adam continues to stall.
Blackpool are growing increasingly irritated at the conduct of Liverpool in their pursuit of Adam,
and the Reds are now ready to cut their losses and sound out another potential acquisition.
Portuguese outfit Benfica have confirmed that they have received an offer from Chelsea for
defender David Luiz. The center back would provide some much needed depth for the Blues as they aim
to rebound following a slow start to the season.
"Sport Lisboa e Benfica inform that we have received an offer from Chelsea Football Club for the
acquisition of the sporting and economic rights of athlete David Luiz Moreira Marinho," revealed a
statement from Benfica.

Thank Jesus, Allah, Buddha and all of their other imaginary friends!
One of the more tedious sagas that this current transfer window has spawned is now within
spitting distance of reaching it's conclusion, with Benfica confirming that they have accepted and
are in the process of finalising an offer (believed to be £26 million) from Chelsea for Brazilian
centre-back David Luiz.
Newcastle's acquisition of Xisco for £5.7M from Deportivo in September of 2008, must be one of
the worst buys in Newcastle United history and that's saying something, because the same club sold
us a certain left winger called Albert Luque, who cost Newcastle over £9M. Xisco - on his bike and
back to [.

Torres's transfer request turned down by the Reds but is this really the end of ‘El Nino'
at Anfield?
Liverpool supporters could be forgiven for wondering whether they were coming or going on
Friday.
