... Here ya go club legend Ben Olsen ... here is what you have always been waiting for. Here is
your chance to run a big-time Major League Soccer club with lots of tradition and shiny trophies
and big banners and ... 3 wins.
Come on down, Ben Olsen!! You've won an MLS head coaching gig!
Curt Onalfo's first move in charge was to bring back former fan favorite
Troy
Perkins. The move looks great on paper and D.C. United needed a goalkeeper badly, but the
acquisition could be bittersweet if Perkins leaves for national team duty this summer. The team
still has other glaring holes and did little to address these in today's MLS SuperDraft.
Further hints toward the identity of Columbus Crew mystery acquisition were provided in this
morning's post by Robbie Rogers on Jed Zayner's blog. According to ASN research, this can only mean
two things: Sergio Herrera or Sergio Galvan Rey. Read on here.

Hamburg chairman Bernd Hoffman has confirmed that Jerome Boateng is expected to leave
the club at the end of the season amid continued links to Manchester City.
One of the free agents this summer who could be a tremendous acquisition for Newcastle United is
Cariff City's Joe Ledley. Joe Ledley Cardiff City mdfielder Joe has been out most of this year
with a hip injury since late January, and has only recently returned to playing. And Joe will
start in their Championship play-off final at Wembley next [.
Arsenal have officially confirmed (via their club website) that Marouane
Chamakh has finally joined the club on a free transfer, following the expiration of his
contract with Ligue 1 side Girondins de Bordeaux.
The Moroccan striker has joined the club on a 'long-term' deal (believed to be a five-year
contract) that will see him wearing the no.
Iker Casillas is one of the most valuable footballers alive right now. The Spanish national
team keeper's stock has risen even higher this summer by brilliant play in the net for the World
Cup champs. So what's next on the elite goalie's list? A La Liga, Coppa del Rey, and Champions
League treble winning season of course.
While MLS and Red Bull Nation was enveloped in the long awaited announcement of Thierry
Henry's acquisition, a noticeable rumbling gathered amongst the flock of reporters and
management which seemed to be equally noteworthy; talk of a third designated player.
New acquisition, Raul, starts for Bundesliga side, FC Schalke in a friendly match with
Hamburger. Ruud van Nistelrooy is in the Hamburger lineup... Van Nistelrooy scores on an errant
Schalke back-pass in the sixth minute...
Even with the collective relief of the Arsenal community that 'Cescgate' is put to bed for
another transfer window, the nightmares of defensive performances of last season have not faded.
The need for quality defensive reinforcements should still be a priority for Arsene Wenger.
The Arsenal manager has more scouts working for him than what Michael Jackson had lawyers.
Just like that, Martin O'Neill resigned from Aston Villa today. "Sudden" doesn't begin to describe
this move; with less than a week to go before the start of the Premier League season, Villa will
now be scrambling to settle a very unsettled situation.
But we're not here to analyze Villa or mull over the reasons for O'Neill's departure.
Many eyebrows were raised when AC Milan proudly unveiled David Beckham as their latest

Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard were both forced out of Liverpool's FA Cup match with Reading
today due to injury.
More details will follow, but this is further terrible news for Liverpool fans in what has been a
nightmare season for Liverpool.
Things were looking up this week with the acquisition of Argentina winger Maxi Rodriguez but it
looks like the club could be without their two best players this weekend.
Along with the acquisition of Luis Gil today, KC has made more roster moves. Two trialists are gone
from camp, and two rostered players are also gone as there are less and less players from the 2009
Wizards. First, Kurt Morsink and Kevin Souter are gone from the Wizards. Neither one is much of a
surprise as both appeared to be on their way out as KC brought in more players, specifically Souter
who takes up an international spot that the Wizards appear to be using fully this season.
Mike Williamson looks a great old fashioned 6′4″ center-back at Newcastle and seems a bargain
buy by Chris Hiughton and the Newcastle club. Mike Williamson great acquisition for Newcastle And
Kevin Nolan has today said how impressed he is with the central defender, the new addition to our
already solid defense, and Mike is a no-nonsense center [.
The Rapids put out their reserve side plus normal starters Kimura and Ballouchy last night. Within
4 minutes they were down a goal and it wasn't looking good. Enter new acquisition Wells Thompson He
scored off a Jamie Smith corner kick in the first half and a feed from Claudio Lopez via Ballouchy
in the 80th minute.
When you look at some up-and-coming players who could do a job for Newcastle next season, you don't
have to look further than Tom Cleverley, Manchester United's 20 year old winger. Tom Cleverely
would be great acquisition by Newcastle Tom is a skillful winger who can score goals, and the
5′9″ Basingstoke-born player currently has amassed [.

Word on the wind this morning is that Everton are the latest in a long line of clubs to enquire
as to the availability of West Ham striker Carlton Cole.
Toffee's manager David Moyes is hoping to recieve a cash-injection to put towards bolstering his
squad over the summer, and is also willing to let a few fringe players (Yakubu)
leave to help fund a mini-overhaul.
While Chris Hughton will not have a lot of transfer money to spend this summer, it seems more and
more likely that two of the players on his list are Manchester United's Tom Cleverley and
Tottenham's Jamie O'Hara. Tom Cleverley would be great acquisition for Newcastle Both are young
lads with Cleverley just 20 years old, [.
The Philadelphia Independence had a 2–1 road victory in their grasp going in to stoppage time
on Wednesday night.
But Tina Ellertson of the Atlanta Beat found an equalizer in the 92nd minute three points on the
road became one.
The slumping Atlanta has been rejuvenated by the acquisition of several former St.
D.C. United fans are well aware of the pipeline that the club from the Nation's Capital has had
related to acquiring players from South America. It is far less common for United to sign European
players, but that is the case with D.C.'s newest acquisition Branko Boskovic, who is a regular
starter for the National Team of Montenegro.
Thierry Henry has officially joined the MLS and the former Barca man is expected to begin
playing for the New York Red Bulls later this month in a friendly match against EPL top four squad
Tottenham Hotspurs on July 22nd.
And perhaps it is a fitting first match for Henry with his new team in his new country
considering it was over across the pond in the EPL that Thierry made a name for himself as an
elite player with the Arsenal Gunners.
Contrary to Iker Casillas' confidence in Ashley Cole's prospective move to Real Madrid, Chelsea
boss Carlo Ancelotti has declared that the full-back will not be leaving Stamford Bridge this
summer.
Despite the player's unsettled time in London due to complaints about media intrusion in his
personal life, Ancelotti has gone as far as saying that he is 100% certain about the England
international's presence in the Blues squad next season without even speaking with him.

Barcelona's Mexican utility man Rafael Marquez is close to agreeing a deal that
will see him follow Thierry Henry's lead in leaving the Camp Nou for the New York
Red Bulls.
Red Bulls sporting director Erik Soler had hinted that the acquisition of Henry
wouldn't be the club's only high-profile signing this summer and it seems that Marquez will be the
next star to swap La Liga for the MLS, with the man himself confirming his plans to leave the
Catalan giants in search of first-team football;
"I want to leave Barcelona in a good way, I hope to get my passage to solve my future soon in
the MLS or outside of MLS.
Yesterday Kljestan gave a short interview about his goal in the CL qualifier which was published
by a few different media outlets (different articles based on the same interview) in Flemish
media.
"...In his first European game the American acquisition to Anderlecht immediately made people
notice him by scoring a goal.
Newcastle have done quite well so far in their acquisition of new players to strengthen the squad
ready for the Premier League next season. Chris Hughton - wants more players in over next couple of
weeks Two good free transfers in Sol Campbell and Dan Gosling, and also a small fee paid to
Nottingham Forest [.
Today's announcement of the acquisition of Rafael Marquez completes the
trifecta of Designated Players for the Red Bulls franchise; a first in Major League Soccer
history.
Thierry Henry and Juan Pablo Angel have already demonstrated the kind of
headaches they may cause teams throughout the league with their creativity, experience and striking
prowess.
Jozy Altidore's club situation is yet to be settled, but an interesting thing happened over the
weekend; the American striker scored for his current club, Villareal, against his rumored future
club, Besiktas.
The transfer window may be closing shortly, but Jozy's ultimate fate could go down to the final
hours.
Well he isn't German and his name's not Mesut. From the streets of Cacém, United's
last acquisition is a relative unknown, yet one tipped for future stardom. Of course, having played
the in the third tier of Portuguese football only a few months ago, there is reason to feel rather
unsure to just how is United career will pan out.
Not too long ago, practically the entire FC Barcelona squad was fully invested in convincing
Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas to return to the Catalan club.
Now that Fabregas has committed to remain a Gunner, at least for another season, it appears that
Pep Guardiola's men will be fully committed to battling Manchester United for the services of
Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Ozil.

A year ago Cody Arnoux was a hot-shot Wake Forest striker bypassing his senior season to chase
the dream of European soccer rather than going the Major League Soccer route. Today, Arnoux is back
on this side of the Atlantic and may be a step closer to MLS.
The Vancouver Whitecaps were expected to announce which player acquisition mechanism they would
choose first this week but both teams decided today to push the announcement back until next
Monday.
Vancouver won a coin toss back at the MLS All-Star game to determine which draft they'd pick
first in, the MLS SuperDraft in January or the expansion draft in November.
England striker Peter Crouch has continuously been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane
all summer, and on Monday reports emerged that Stoke City were in the running for the Tottenham
striker. Boss Tony Pulis has moved quickly to squash these rumors, however, insisting that the tall
striker is out of Stoke's price range.
Liverpool Football Club today announces that the Board has agreed the sale of the Club to New
England Sports Ventures:
First and foremost, "The sale is conditional on Premier League approval, resolution
of the dispute concerning Board membership and other matters." We'll provide our analysis in
due time once the situation becomes more apparent, but until now it is important to recognise and
process the raw, immense information coming out of Anfield.
Liverpool's owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have had their boardroom coup slapped down by
the High Court today.
Hicks and Gillett tried to replace two board members with two of their own in order to block the
sale of Liverpool to New England Sports Ventures (NESV). But the judge, ruled they did not have the

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester United are ready to make F.C Porto's centre
back Jorge Rolandotheir first acquisition of the transfer window
after making an £18 million bid for the Portuguese international (which actually falls quite a
long way short of the Dragões completely ridiculous £28 million valuation for the 6′ 3"
defender).
