Philadelphia Union fans have been dealt heavy blows of late. Their veteran goalkeeper was sent away
and within days, the face of their franchise was traded away and not to the glamour of the English
Premier League. Rather, Sebastien Le Toux is finding his way up north, to Vancouver.
Officially, Le Toux was let go for allocation money.
So transfer deadline day came and went without much fuss. Over on the live blog we had an influx
of Matthews, Willem Dafoe scoring against Sp*rs, rapping Clint Dempsey, Andrei Arshavin as Rita
Hayworth and then ... a signing!

The Philadelphia Union announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have completed the transfer of
Roger Torres for an undisclosed sum.
The 19-year-old midfielder, whose loan spell with the Union was about to end, had been on loan
from Colombian first division club America de Cali for the 2010 and 2011 season.

Here's Chelsea's latest acquisition, promising young Belgian winger Kevin De Bruyne (who
definitely has a whiff of the 'The Sherminator' about him), holding his new
uniform aloft for the cameras at Cobham after signing from Genk for £6.7 million earlier
today.

Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon remains a Union player.
A Union official confirmed Sunday that Mondragon is in camp with the Union and said the club
has not talked with Deportivo Cali, despite Colombian reports that Mondragon could sign with his
hometown club, Deportivo Cali.

Tattooist Leo Millares (above left) is a man who spends too much time with his hands on
footballer flesh for our liking. His latest work, posted on Twitter before the ink had even dried,
is a set of replica pooch prints on the tummies of Guti and his lady love Romina Belluscio.
The Philadelphia Union have tried to stay away from off-the-field controversy since the
franchise was created, but a soon-to-be new signing will prevent the club from keeping its
completely family friendly facade.
Lionardo Pajoy was revealed to be the Union's next acquisition today, when Kerith Gabriel wrote
that a source informed him of the Colombian striker's move to Philadelphia.
Finally another addition hits the roster with United's acquisition of Maicon Santos. In another
time, with a different club, I might be pleased with this pickup. As it stands, I'm just left
feeling suspicious.
Why?
While Santos has a reasonable history with the league (and so will not have to suffer through a
period of adapting to the style of play), his mediocre goal tally (14 goals in 2.
The agent of Real Madrid's out of favour midfielder Esteban Granero has admitted that he would
relish a transfer to Liverpool.
Teofilo Lazaro has spoken out about the future of 24-year-old Granero, who has slipped down Real
boss Jose Mourinho's pecking order at the Bernabeu this season.
And, he revealed that the £8million-rated midfield man would be happy for a move away to secure
regular first-team action elsewhere, namng the Reds as a possible destination.
Real Madrid will allow Esteban Granero to leave the Santiago Bernabeu on loan this month, with the
midfielder a reported target for Liverpool.
The 25-year-old has made only five appearances for Real this season and is desperate for more
regular first-team action.
According to SER Deportivos, Los Blancos are now offering Granero to potential suitors, with a view
to a loan agreement for the remainder of the season.
Among the Philadelphia Union's many offseason moves was the acquisition of withdrawn forward,
and occasional winger, Josue Martinez. The Costa Rican international striker was expected to help
push Danny Mwanga and Jack McInerney for a starting role alongside Sebastien Le Toux. However,
according to Soccer By Ives, the Union's addition of Martinez may have made Mwanga surplus to the
team's requirements in 2012.
Twitter (Follow me on @_Wrighty7) and the interweb is buzzing like a bumble bee today that Chelsea
man Salomon Kalou could be on the move to Arsenal.
Now I believe this is the sort of deal that will be like Marmite to Gooners. Some will like it, and
some will hate it.
I happen to think that Kalou would be a very good signing for the club.
A few weeks ago, comments were made publicly about Michael Thomas coming to Kansas City. As
mentioned previously, the Notre Dame grad has played with multiple members of Sporting KC,
including Matt Besler and Seth Sinovic. Word out of Sweden is that Thomas will definitely not be
returning to club, Ljungskile SK.
Captain Fabricio Coloccini put in another terrific performance for Newcastle in Wednesday's
great 3-0 win over Manchester United. Fabricio Coloccini in action on Wednesday evening And it
was really good to see Newcastle so strong in the middle of their defense again, as Mike
Williamson again showed what a terrific acquisition he has been for just £1M from
Portsmouth two years ago.

The Seattle Sounders appear to be hitting the international market during transfer season yet
again.
After officially announcing the acquisition of Swedish right back Adam Johannson on Thursday,
the Sounders are reportedly close to signing Danish winger Christian Sivebaek, a player general
manager Adrian Hanauer told the Seattle Times that the Sounders are "very interested" in
acquiring.
Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain would be an ideal January signing for Liverpool, according to
former Anfield star John Barnes.
The Reds have been tipped to reinforce their goalscoring department during the transfer window,
having found the net only 18 times in as many league outings so far this season.
When the Seattle Sounders lost James Riley in the expansion draft there was some real concern
about how Seattle would fill the void let by the dependable veteran's departure.
The Sounders have reached an agreement with Swedish right back Adam Johansson, according to the
club website of Johannson's current club, IFK Goteborg.
Dutch striker Luuk de Jong is a 21 year-old Dutch International striker who was born in
Switzerland. Luuk de Jong - 21 year-old old Dutch International striker Newcastle have been

Newcastle, but it could cost up to £10M for the 6 times capped FC [.

Eddie Johnson's long wait to find a new club has come to an end.
The American forward has signed with Mexican club Puebla, where he will team with DaMarcus
Beasley and play under former Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls coach Juan Carlos Osorio.
Chivas USA had a new head coach and a new system last season, but after a slow start the team
looked to be set in neutral in the competitive Western Conference. However, the acquisition of

At this stage of the season and given how well the club has done since that awful start to the
season, the last news you would want to read is that we're going to be patient with the contract of
Robin Van Persie. This is our captain, our inspiration and quite literally has dragged us all the
way up the table.
Liverpool are being touted to make a shock January move for in-form Wolves striker Steven
Fletcher.
The Scottish striker, who has bagged six goals in ten appearances this season has reportedly caught
the eye of Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish, who is growing concerned at his side's lack of goals this
term.
*The Galaxy have formally announced the signing of Brazilian midfielder Marcelo Sarvas from Costa
Rican club Alajuelense, the day after Coach Bruce Arena told reporters about the acquisition
conference call. Sarvas, 30, received his work visa today, although judging by his career path so
far fans shouldn't get too attached
Next week, the Portland Timbers could be making some significant player announcements. Part of
their plan could be an acquisition during the second round of the MLS Re-Entry Draft taking place
on December 12, as the league released the full list of available players today. While Seattle and
Vancouver announced significant signings this week, I think the Timbers have a master plan that
will soon come to fruition.
There are a good few Arsenal transfer rumours around today and there seems to be a lot of defenders
being mentioned after Sebastien Squillaci's usual useless performance at Olympiakos and the ongoing
injury problems in the Arsenal back line. The £10m-rated Jan Vertonghen is many Arsenal's fans
idea of a versatile acquisition for the Gunners, [.
I keep seeing these rumours Arsenal are in the hunt for Lukas Podolski and I have to admit that it
excites me a little.
Of course, they are only rumours, but if there was some truth in the talk around town,
then he would be an ideal acquisition to the squad.
He has plenty of experience at the top-level in football and can play as striker or as a wide
player.
Sporting Kansas City continued their busy start to the offseason, making another trade. This time,
the team brought in left sided midfielder/back, Bobby Convey from the San Jose Earthquakes. In
return, Sporting KC is sending an international roster spot to the Quakes. A bit of a surprising
move for KC sending the international spot to San Jose, as KC will now go from 9 international
spots to 7, the other spot KC is losing is because it's expiring from the Adam Cristman trade with
DC.
Soon to be heading in the same directionToronto FC got into the holiday shopping
mood on Tuesday with the acquisition of defender Jeremy Hall. The 23-year old Florida native
arrives from FC Dallas after previous MLS stops with Portland and New York. Primarily a right back,
Hall was the 11th overall pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft and provides The Reds with a little more
depth on the corners of their back line.

Editor's note: At the end of the 2010 season, we posted a series of raves "Raves" about our
favorite Philadelphia players. They need not be the team's best players, but they're guys and gals
we like. Over the next two weeks, we continue the series again with some of the PSP writers and
contributors favorite players of 2011.

Pepe Reina believes all the ingredients are in place to make Liverpool challengers for the game's
top honours.
The Spain goalkeeper insists the acquisition of the club by Fenway Sports Group last year has
provided the Reds with the grounding required to enjoy a bright future - and he's excited by what
is in store for the club.
The Portland Timbers acheive an impressive benchmark in season ticket sales for 2012, and the 2011
MLS season isn't quite complete. The team reached the expected cap for season ticket packages at
14,750 but promise there will still be some game day tickets available for groups and individuals.
Meanwhile, we look at the various player acquisition vehicles in MLS and the key dates when the
Timbers roster could undergo changes.
Ajax starlet Danzell Gravenberch is attracting the attention of Manchester United and Liverpool, it
has been claimed.
The 17-year-old striker is coming to the end of his contract at the Amsterdam Arena and is
reportedly prepared to listen to offers from elsewhere.
According to reports, both Sir Alex Ferguson and Kenny Dalglish have identified Gravenberch as a
potential acquisition and a move to United or Liverpool could be on the cards.
Luke FletcherMidfielder Luke Fletcher has become the latest
acquisition for Scarborough Athletic.

Fabio Aurelio is always injured and Liverpool will never have a fit and talented left back. At
least that's how it began to seem as year after year the Brazilian would struggle through countless
injuries while a revolving door spat out failed would-be replacements. Right back, on the other
hand, always seemed fairly settled, and with the acquisition of Glen Johnson and the emergence of
Martin Kelly in recent seasons, the question most often asked was how the club was going to manage
to fit in two players who would be safe bets to start week in and week out for most other Premier
League sides.
Craig Bellamy – Our Shrewdest Summer Signing?
Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli wisely spent around £60m on new players this summer. Most
of them fit into our new, yet old, philosophy of securing young, preferably British talent and
working to develop the individual at Anfield.

The Chicago Fire have won four of their five past matches, but they will likely have to continue
pushing on without midfielder Sebastian Grazzini.
Grazzini, who injured his hamstring during the first half of Chicago's 3-2 win over the New England
Revolution, is expected to miss Wednesday's match at Real Salt Lake.

Chivas USA isn't dead just yet, and it has its veteran, mid-season acquisition to thank for
that.
Led by a resurgent Juan Pablo Angel, Chivas USA came back from a two-goal deficit to force a 2-2
road draw with D.C. United and blew out Toronto FC, 3-0, to maintain it's postseason hopes for at
least another week and capture SBI MLS Team of the Week honors.
