Monty Hall... a proud father"
The boys are back in tow-owu-wow-own!" Oh,
sing it yourself then. It's true though - like well-paid groundhogs in shorts, our beloved Reds are
making their annual late-winter appearance! And guess what? Spring is coming early! (March 7th at
SkyDome - operators are standing by) It's always fun to see old faces return and new faces emerge
(except on defence where we are apparently in tip-top shape) and catch up on all the news and
gossip from a long off-season.
There is a big laundry list of things new manager Mark Hughes needs to get QPR off and running.
The London side have scored just 19 goals, one more than Wigan's output, the worst in the
Premiership. Apart from the scoring woes, one of Hughes's biggest priorities will be to get Barton
to act like the senior citizen he should be at 29 years of age.

CHICAGO -- The NCAA Women's College Cup is all the buzz heading into the weekend in Kennesaw, Ga.
Locally, there are Eclipse Select Soccer Club alumni playing for three of the remaining four teams
as Stanford faces Florida State and Duke takes on Wake Forest in Friday's semifinal matches for the
right to play for a national championship on Sunday.
Riyas Komu, from exhibit "Safe to Fight" (Azad Art Gallery, Tehran, 2010)Fear of ACL injury has
replaced fear of intimacy as my number one issue. Plenty of people come back from an ACL tear and
still play in leagues and pick-up games. But plenty also leave the sport forever.
If I turn a cold eye on my fear, I see that I am less afraid of never playing soccer than I am of
the rehabilitation that it would take to go from a torn ACL to playing again.
As reported originally on Soccer by Ives a couple of weeks ago, the Chicago Fire have signed 17
year-old striker Kellen Gulley as a Home Grown Player. Gulley comes from the Chicago Fire Juniors -
Mississippi and becomes the first player from the three Juniors programs based outside of
Chicagoland to sign with the club's first team.
Predictions? Give them in the comments. This has been a low-scoring World Cup so far - 2-0 USA is
my guess, and I think I'm being generous with the scoreline. To the USA, that is.
Lineups: USA - Solo; Le Peilbet, Buehler, Rampone, Krieger; Cheney, Boxx, Lloyd, O'Reilly;
Rodriguez, Wambach
North Korea - Hong; Jong, Ri Un Hyang, Ho, Song; Ri Ye Gyong, Jo, Jon, Kim; Yun, Ra
I like Rapinoe's skill on the ball, but Cheney offers more of a finishing threat, so I'd guess
Sundhage's move is to try to put more scoring punch into the lineup.
Stuart Holden confirmed, through Twitter, today that he will attend the Philadelphia Union's
June 22 game against Sporting Kansas City after persuasion from Union fans. He tweeted the
following to @Jersha (who you may recognize from Sons of Ben and 'Stache Bash related posts on the
Brotherly Game):
@Jersha haha I will be there on 22nd!

U.S. attacker Lindsay Tarpley will miss World Cup 2011 after suffering an ACL injury in Saturday's
Send-Off Series win over Japan. Is it just me or does it seem like the USWNT is always without one
key player at every World Cup?Despite that rotten bit of news, here are the highlights...- Greg

Real Salt Lake's Rocky Mountain victory wasn't limited to just Wednesday night's first-team
action.
The RSL reserves topped those of the Colorado Rapids, 2-0, Thursday afternoon in the second
reserve match for both clubs. Former New York Red Bull Conor Chinn and Collen Warner tallied the

The Portland Timbers' list of offensive acquisitions got a little bit longer on Wednesday, with
the team acquiring former United States youth national team midfielder Sal Zizzo from Chivas USA in

The Rapids left yesterday for preseason training in my old home of the Phoenix metro area. They
released the roster for the trip today which includes all 23 players under contract except for Mac
Kandji who's remaining in Denver to continue rehabbing from his ACL injury he suffered forcing the
