The French international defender Sevbastien Squillaci is going to be making his Arsenal debut a
bit earlier than expected as it has just been announced that Thomas Vermaelen has joined Robin Van
Persie and Theo Walcott on the treatment table. Squillaci played his first 90 minutes of football
this season for the reserves in midweek against [.
Just when we'd hoped the last of the post-Interlull injuries had been reported the news emerged
at Arsene's press conference yesterday that Thomas Vermaelen would miss today's game with an
achilles problem.
In the press conference Arsene said the injury was 'short term' and said he's got a chance to
play in midweek in the Champions League, so that's something at least.

Right so, we'll start with the team news for tonight and as expected Abou Diaby misses the game
after the Robinson challenge on Saturday. Also out is Thomas Vermaelen who hasn't recovered from
his achilles problem picked up on international duty.
Johann Djourou played for the reserves in Manchester last night so that means the centre-half

Thomas Vermaelen and Cesc remain out with achilles and hamstring problems respectively while
Kieran Gibbs starts his 'short term' absence because of his bashed up metatarsal. There are fitness

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney will miss the Champions League match away to Valencia on

"United will travel to Valencia on Tuesday morning without striker Wayne Rooney," said a
statement on United's official website.

Stejskal's wrap up here).
Daniel Agger is ready to reprise his emergency left-back role in Holland tomorrow – with Paul
Konchesky ruled out of Liverpool's Europa League trip to FC Utrecht and manager Roy Hodgson
refusing to put a date on Fabio Aurelio's return from injury.
Centre-back Agger had already made four highly effective appearances at full-back this season, and
came on in that position again against Sunderland last weekend when Konchesky limped off.

Thomas Vermaelen will not be fit for Sunday's match against Chelsea. It's really unfortunate,
because we could really use him against one of the most potent offenses in the world.
