Sounders the most times each season, pulled off a big Stunt at the Sounders' home opener against
the Philadelphia Union. They had a plane fly over Qwest with the banner "ACES: GO UNION!"

Via Mateo, we learn that Peter Nowak at least know which domestic league he works for.
Quote: "This is the men's squad," the coach said. "I'm sorry, but this is how the men play." Well,
Pete, you better sign yourself some women, because it looks like your men's team is going to get
its ass kicked up and down North America.
It was the job no-one wanted. Not even Steve Coppell wanted to come back to Crystal Palace to
try and steer them away from relegation to League One. The club was in a mess; 10 points deducted
plummeting the side from play-off contenders to relegation battlers, star man Victor Moses gone, no
takeover bids, and a side shattered by the administration news and short on confidence.
I know, after all my internet promises I still haven't been posting recently. I did, however,
just have a huge week of testing, then caught a horrible bug that had me prostrate for the past 72
hours. So excuses and apologies over, onto the football. I am actually really proud of us despite
the lack of points.
As you may have read yesterday, I'm leaving town this afternoon to an internet-free-zone,
returning Sunday. I know I haven't been posting here that much recently, but if you miss me, I've
been going a bit mad over at England World Cup Blog, there should be enough there to tide you over.
Onto some news.
This one will be even shorter than last week. Promise.

As the World Cup comes to a close, soon we'll be redirecting our attention back to the domestic
leagues. But after watching three matches a day and being overrun with all the goings-on of the
2010 World Cup, it may prove difficult to wrap your head around all the transfer window activity
that has already been completed.

Bolton have kicked off their preseason games with a victory! Mind you, it was against a team that
even most Americans haven't heard of, but still, a win's a win and I'll take it. Some semblance of
highlights here (via @epltalk on Twitter), complete with an interview with Sam Ricketts.
Bolton looked certain candidates for relegation early on in the season with Gary Megson becoming
increasing unpopular with our neighbouring fans. Then Owen Coyle came in and saved the day, much to
the disappointment of Burnley fans, who then saw their team take a turn for the worst and get
relegated, whilst Bolton finished a respectable 14th.

Mick Lyon's name has been tied to the great teams and moments in Aces Soccer - both as a player,
assistant coach, and as the first women's soccer coach here at UE. He has been a role model to
many, as well as a close friend.
Mick was regarded not only for his ability to create and finish scoring chances, but for his
tremendous will and ability to battle as the midfield general in the great Aces teams of the past.
Following his side's 2-0 loss against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, Tottenham
manager Harry Redknapp insists that Wayne Rooney is still the most feared striker amongst the Red
Devils ranks. Mexican sensation Javier Hernandez earned a start against the Spurs at the weekend
due to Rooney's injury layoff, but Redknapp insists Rooney will be back to top form soon.
