Football must be a pretty good way to advertise your company. We all know that Emirates sponsor
Arsenal, AIG sponsor Manchester United, Samsung at Chelsea and Carlsberg at Liverpool. But did you
know that Beko sponsor Watford or Fraser Eagle sponsor Accrington Stanley? Just how much money is
to be made by sponsoring or advertising [.

This is a frustrating time to form part of Liverpool's reserve squad. Two FA Youth cup successes in a row and the national reserves title won with remarkable ease yet not one of the players seem to be anywhere near forming part of the senior team next season.
True Emiliano Insua and Damien Plessis did make it into the side towards the end of the season but those were exceptional circumstances where there was little to play for.

For the most part, things went according to plan in the First Round of the Carling Cup, which was
contested over a period of a couple days earlier this week. There were a couple upsets -- League
Two side Rotherham United went to Sheffield Wednesday and bounced the favorite out in a shootout,
and Yeovil Town made a trip to The Valley and beat Charlton Athletic 1-0 -- and some tricky games
for the big boys at this stage of tournament -- Derby County needed extra time to put away Lincoln
City, as did Wolves to overcome Accrington Stanley -- but other than that, the favorites held

Firstly it's been a bad week if your team has been beaten.
Secondly, David Norris of Ipswich Town for his 'handcuff' celebration after he scored
against Blackpool.
Thirdly, Chris Morgan's elbow on Barnsley's Ian Hume which left Hume with a fractured
skull.
CHESTER City last night approached Liverpool to enquire about the availability of central defender,
Godwin Antwi.
The 20-year-old Ghanaian-born player is highly thought of at Anfield, but it is understood that
they would be receptive to a temporary loan spell, if the player was agreeable.

With all of the deserved hype surrounding Euro 2008, the 2008-2009 Carling Cup first round draw,
which was conducted yesterday, has more than flown under the radar.
All 72 Football League clubs will be in action during the week beginning on August 11. The first
round, therefore, is made up of 36 ties and is divided into North and South regions.
Leicester have signed Liverpool goalkeeper David Martin on a six-month loan deal.
The 22-year-old agreed a new contract with the Reds this summer to keep him at Anfield until 2010,
but he has been allowed to leave temporarily to get some regular football.
He becomes the second Liverpool player to join up with Nigel Pearson's side following Jack Hobbs'
arrival last month.
