Well, all I can say is we were lucky. PAO had a few incredible chances to score a few goals but
were either stopped by the post or Arabatzis. But, they never should have won in the first round
against us so it's all good
We started without Makos which was great news. Our starting XI was Arabatzis, Araujo,
Majstorovic, Geraldo, Karabelas, Manduca, Kafes, Jahic, Blanco, Scocco, and Djebbour.
I was looking around on the internet for random stuff and ended up on a certain Break.com.
Looking around at videos of people getting into stupid accidents and saw an interesting related
video's thumbnail. It had an Italian 'football player' going down after a hard tackle from the
Paraguayan defense.
This may be a recurring theme on this blog for the next week or so but things still have to be
said.
I still can't believe that the general feeling amongst most in the British media/game is that Stoke
City Ryan Shawcross is the victim in this situation!
It's that bad I believe that if you had not heard of the whole situation until today, you would
have thought that Shawcross is the one with the broken leg, not Ramsey.
Morning all, before we look ahead to today's game at Burnley let's deal with the bits and pieces
from yesterday. Firstly there was a statement from Aaron Ramsey about the incident. He thanked all
those who should have been thanked, including Stoke's Glenn Whelan for his behaviour in the
immediate aftermath of the incident.
Oh to.. Oh to be.. Oh to be a Gooner..
Sometimes I think I have it a bit hard. I live in a part of England called the East Midlands.
It is a nice rural community in a county that is made up a mixture of sheep farming and light
industry.
I quite like it here but there is a problem.
I don't often talk about referees - in fact I think this is the first time that I've done so - but
it is a subject that is impossible to avoid tonight. Quite simply, Jonas Eriksson's refereeing was
obscene.
Ryan Babel's sending off was extremely harsh as was the first penalty and arguably the second one.
One of the big talking points here in Southend over the past couple of weeks has been the
introduction of new cycle lanes along the seafront.
The new lanes, put in by the council thanks to a big cash injection from central government, widens
the area for cyclists, but reduces the width for cars passing along the seafront from Chalkwell to
Southend.
Google Street View for South Africa is live, we get to take a look inside our soccer stadiums
with a brand new site, Streetview SA.
For those who do not know, Google Street View for South Africa allows you to visit places in our
beautiful country as if you were traveling by car.
Before I started to think about my topic for the day, I was telling myself that I will not talk
about the dangerous tackling. But it all changed as soon as I saw the yet another high challenge
which lead to another broken leg. This was the Cagliari versus Roma game on Saturday, the
highlights of which I saw while doing my customary channel surfing.
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had a very (un)interesting interview in the Daily Mirror, which
seemed to consist of the reporter simply asking him 100 times why he didn't go for a drink with
other Premier League managers after games! His answers, in a nutshell, are that he likes to get
home as quickly as [.
Arsene has reiterated some excellent points on the hot topic of dangerous tackling. His mention of
the spate of serious injuries from dangerous tackles was an expertly aimed dig at those who claim
that all these injuries are just accidents caused by committed play:"What do you think? That all
the injuries are coincidence?
