As USL Pro is moving forward with its realignment and scheduling, the NASL has taken some huge
step backwards. On Wednesday, A.C. St. Louis announced it was ceasing operations, depriving the
fledgling NASL of a critical metropolitan area. But even worse news came right before the
weekend, as Inside Minnesota Soccer reported the USSF was unhappy with NASL's progress so far and
voted to remove the league's provisional second division status.
As first reported on the Inside Minnesota soccer website, AC St Louis is no longer in business.
The remaining employees were let go this week according to the story. The story also offers

Cooper is believed to still be looking for a buyer of A-B Park, which was given to him by
Anheuser-Busch in 2009 to help Cooper's bid to bring an MLS team to St.

It's official, the Union have signed Faryd Mondragon and Carlos Valdes. From the announcement on
the Union website:
"We are very happy to have agreed to deals with both Faryd and Carlos," said Team Manager Peter
Nowak. "It is great to have an experienced player, such as Faryd, show his desire and commitment to
become a member of the Philadelphia Union family.

According to the Geman newspaper Nürnberg Zeitung, Toronto FC are also interested in Marek
Mintal. In the report, FC Nürnberg Sports Director Martin Bader confirms the interest in Mintal
from the Union: "There is a free request." The report goes on to say that "Mintal himself was
tight-lipped yesterday and would not comment on the speculation surrounding his future.
Jeff Cooper looks to have finally closed the chapter on a team that played only 1
season.
IMS has been told by multiple sources in St. Louis that Division I pro soccer club AC St. Louis
has finally closed the doors. While little had been heard from the club since the season ended in
October, the team still had several staff on board including General Manager Tim Owens and Director
of Public Relations Tony Hubert.
