Zlatan Ibrahimovic has expressed interest in finishing out his career in Major League Soccer,
becoming the latest European superstar to contemplate a move across the Atlantic.
The AC Milan striker and Swedish international told Voetbal International "This is my last
contract with a club in Europe.
Rafa Benitez is a very good manager. He's won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, La Liga, FA Cup,
and probably a number of other less significant titles. If my memory serves me right the Spaniard
also had the upper hand in his battles with the Dark Lord of Anti-Football when the Portuguese was
at Chelsea.
Friday, December 24, 2010 - Haydon's Soccer Pitch by John Haydon
John Haydon of Haydons Soccer Pitch has reported the following story:
A huge soccer game is coming to the D.C. region.
Spanish giant Barcelona is scheduled to play legendary English club Manchester United at 91,000
capacity FedEx Field in Landover, Md.
Real Madrid is already a dominate team in La Liga but despite having already crushed through a
number of teams, except Barcelona of course, they have done this without the services of Kaka.
Although Jose Mourinho has stated that he is looking forward to seeing Kaka take the pitch with
the team he has been building, Jorge Valdano looks like he has other plans for the 28-year old.
AC Milan and Brazilian striker Ronaldinho could be on his way to either Liverpool or LA
Galaxy next season on a free as his current AC Milan contract runs out in the Summer.
Galaxy will be favourites for his signature as Ronaldinho's £6.5m a year which he currently
earns would be a major stumbling block for Liverpool.
The new year is still more than a week away, but we will learn quiet about the new year for
American soccer after a pair of announcements later today.
The U.S. Men's national team will unveil its roster for next month's training camp in Carson,
California, a roster of close to 30 players made up mainly of MLS players and Scandinavian-based
players.
I've suggested this before (with a nice diagram), but if we have no fit centre-forward worthy of
the name we need to make the most of what we do have, namely attacking midfielder types.
Jonathan Wilson's review of the tactical year.
Barcelona also show the effectiveness of two of the other tactical trends in club football: the
false nine and the inverted winger.
The draw is 17 December, but with all the group games complete, we do know the potential
opponents for the La Liga teams left in the competition.

The signing of Kevin Prince Boateng in the summer did little to raise hopes about Milan's upcoming
campaign. At this stage the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho had not yet materialised and
the Milan roster was looking decidedly average. In fact, before the arrivals of the aforementioned
two, the Milan squad was quite possibly [.

It was not that many years ago that Ronaldinho was the best footballer on the planet. He was
named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004, 2005. Today he is a shadow of himself, seemingly more
interested in disco's than training.
So it is a bit sad to hear that AC Milan are offering Ronaldinho to anyone who will listen for
£7m.
Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Japan star Keisuke Honda, and are reportedly in talks
over a January move.
According to Japanese daily Sports Nippon, the Reds have commenced negotiations over the €12
million-rated playmaker with his current club CSKA Moscow.

Lazio's 3-1 win over Inter Milan tonight has lifted them joint top of Serie A

As for Inter, it's their fifth defeat already this season in Serie
A, as Rafa Benitez gets closer to the exit door in Milan.
January is fast approaching and for European clubs this means the final chance for teams to
reinforce their squads in preparation of the business end of the season. Today, the European season

The Champions League group stage concludes this week with the final round of matches and there
are still four places up for grabs. Two in Group H where Shakhtar Donetsk, Arsenal and Braga all
still have a chance to qualify for the knockout stages.

The only unanswered question is whether group stage debutants Spurs can secure top spot ahead of
holders Inter Milan.

This is arguably the most important subject broached in the soccer blogosphere. Arguably, or
definitely? Definitely.
Reading up on Ajax's manager-less win against Milan on Wednesday, the game recap touched on how
dapper Frank de Boer looked in his interim role for the Amsterdam giants, a subject of obvious
priority.
What a week: What a breath of fresh air the win over Milan was, sure it may not have been
against the strongest Milan XI or a XI that was really pumped up for the game as qualification to
the next stage of the Champions League had been secured in the previous game-week, but that didn't
matter, what mattered was how the Ajax XI reacted to their new coach.
Rejoice, rejoice, history has been made. The Bidone d'Oro, the Golden Trashbin awarded to Serie
A's most useless player, has been 'won' by Roma's Adriano for the third time, making him both the
first three-time recipient (hurrah) and first to do so with two different teams (double
hurrah).

Excellent individual performances this week especially put on by Cagliari's Brazilian striker
Ânderson Miguel da Silva aka Nenê, who score a brilliant hat-trick. Manager Roberto Donadoni has
to be fully satisfied with his squad's 3-0 performance as they continue their winning ways under
the new manager with back-to-back wins at the the stadio San Paolo.

campaign. At this stage the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho had not yet materialised and
the Milan roster was looking decidedly average. In fact, before the arrivals of the aforementioned

This weekend is a big one; in all three leagues (Serie A, English Premier League, and La Liga) we
have some big matches. What we also have this weekend is the FIFA World Club Cup Final between TP
Mazembe and Inter Milan, and it is the first time that an African side has reached the final of
this tournament.
