Premiership Preview: Steven Gerrard’s Mystery Injury

11 Lions - England Footy 07 November @ 08:41 AM EST

It's early November and we're still another seventh months until the tournament starts but I must admit that the injuries to Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard are beginning to worry me. According to Radio 5, Gerrard hasn't trained for two weeks and Ferdinand's overall fitness this season may have contributed to some of his indifferent performances when he has appeared for Manchester United.

VIDEO - Liverpool CAN beat Lyon tonight. Just take inspiration from the recent past...

Liverpool Kop 07 November @ 06:47 AM EST
Gerrard out. Johnson out. Aurelio out. Torres half-fit. Several other players doubtful. Two defeats in three CL games. Third in the CL group table. eight defeats since the start of the season. Liverpool have no chance of beating Lyon on their own ground, right? WRONG.
Liverpool thrive on being underdogs and if history has proven one thing about the club it's this: in times of adversity, and when everything looks hopeless, Liverpool can and will triumph. Click to continue reading...

Xabi Alonso Saddened By Liverpool's Struggles In Champions League

Anfield Talk 06 November @ 11:17 AM EST
Devastated is the word that Steven Gerrard used to describe how he felt when Xabi Alonso left Liverpool. It is a strong word. "Gutted" is trotted out routinely by footballers, but "devastated" cuts far deeper, revealing the kind of pain that has been all too apparent in the turbulent five-week spell that has turned Liverpool's season into something already approaching a write-off. Another round. Games working out as predicted except for Man U 3 3 CSKA Moscow which I really thought would go to Manchester. And of course Barcelona's inability to beat Kazan but they were not playing at home (if that even serves as an excuse!). When Becks stepped down as England's captain after the 2006 World Cup, McClaren dropped him entirely from the team.
