Dani Alves did this to Iran in Abu Dhabi (shame they couldn't hold it in Tehran):
Rather nice.

Inter Milan's Philippe Coutinho in Brazil's squad
According to O Globo, Brazil have been lined up to face Iran in Abu Dhabi. The
Brazilian Football Confederation have yet to confirm the fixture, which may take place in the UAE
on October 7th.
Brazil will also play another friendly on the 12th – probably in Arsenal's Emirates
stadium.
From Forbes.com
" With a value of $258 million, Man City, despite a succession of foreign owners, is in
free fall. Two-thirds of their stadium revenue goes to the city council, which financed the stadium
for the 2002 Commonwealth Games."
City posted operating income losses of $56 million, the most in the top 20 clubs.
Pachuca CF are the CONCACAF Champions League winners for the fourth time in their history after
a second half stoppage time winner from Edgar Benitez gave them a 1-0 win in the second leg of the
final. Cruz Azul, who were going for a record extending sixth title, had won the first leg at home
seven days earlier by two goals to one.
The reviews for Sex and the City 2 (Abu Dhabi Boogaloo) have been terrible. At time of writing,
the movie has a score of 27 on Metacritic. Which is pretty much a disaster. So the marketing people
needed something special to sell this thing.
In the UK at least, they seem to have managed it.

Robinho not interested in returning to Manchester City
• Robinho thinks Roberto Mancini has 'a lack of ability'
• Manchester City's Brazilian keen on Barcelona
Robinho's representatives are to fly into England next week to inform Manchester City that the
Brazil forward has no intention of returning to the Premier League next season.
So where are these summer signings then?! I expected Tottenham to be very active in the transfer
market by now but it just hasn't happened. It sounds like Harry expected to get Joe Cole but I
still thought we'd have three or four new squad members by now. Our boss was quoted in the press
today talking about Man City's resources, claiming fans would not care if 'Saddam Hussein' owned
their club so long as he was pumping ridiculous amounts of money into it.
As the teams take to the pitch in Eastlands on Saturday two teams will meet who have a very similar
ownership structure and transfer policy. Whilst Chelsea have stopped their mega-spending they did
attempt to assemble a squad of the best players at any cost after their initial take over,
Manchester City have had to continue to try to ‘buy' success.
Hekari United are the defending champions
This weekend sees the beginning of a new campaign in Oceania's elite football competition, the
O-League. Having established itself as a regular feature of the football calendar since it was
rebranded with a new format in 2007, the anticipation ahead of this tournament is growing mainly
because of last season's shock victory of Papua New Guinea's PKR Hekari United FC.
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates— European champions Inter Milan swept into the final of the Club
World Cup with a convincing 3-0 semi-final defeat of Asian counterparts Seongnam Ilhwa here on
Wednesday. Argentine striker Diego Milito made one goal and scored another on his return from a
five-week absence, as Rafael Benitez's under-performing side set [.

The Club World Cup reaches its climax and will have a fresh feel to it. The image of Barcelona
is changed and Sepp Blatter makes the headlines for the wrong reason.
I'll begin with this cracking quote from Antipodean Gooner as he, like us, finds out that Vieira
will soon be the 5th ex-Gooner at Manchester City.
If the Abu Dhabi sheikhs wanted our players that badly, they should've saved their money and
just bought the club
The signing of Vieira will not only sadden a few Arsenal hearts but will also infuriate the red
half of Manchester.
Hot on the heels of the Patrick Vieira signing, The Guardian reports that a bid for Crystal Palace
forward Victor Moses is next:
City have identified Moses as a possible star of the future and hope to capitalise on Palace's
financial problems by agreeing terms to make the 19-year-old the seventh striker on the club's
books.
To requote one of our guest columnists almost word for word That was not the kind of atmosphere
I was expecting to re-kick-off my column under.
We all know that thing about not judging a book by its cover. Clearly, that doesn't apply to
Tevez. Then again, he's no book.
Seemingly not one to be out of the headlines for long, Garry Cook finds himself centre stage once
again today with the suggestion in The Guardian that ADUG are giving 'serious consideration' to the
possibility of replacing him in the summer:
Manchester City's owners in Abu Dhabi are starting to give serious consideration to the
position of the chief executive, Garry Cook, at the end of the season after becoming increasingly
perturbed about his leadership style and the frequency with which he has attracted bad
publicity.
If you were wondering what Portsmouth chairman Sulaiman Al-Fahim was up to during "his" club's
time of ultimate crisis, now we know. He's in Moscow, "part of an official UAE delegation promoting
the chess industry" (chess is an "industry"?). With Siberia not open for its old business, Moscow
is about as far away from Portsmouth as any fan could wish Al-Fahim to be.

Liverpool have denied reports that the Abu Dhabi royal family are considering adding to their

Liverpool insist they have had no contact from the family.
The Abu Dhabi royal family which owns Manchester City is believed to be weighing up a bid to buy
Liverpool.
City is owned by one member of the Al Nahyan dynasty, Sheikh Mansour, but reliable sources claim
the family are pursuing an interest in the Reds.
In order for such a deal to be sanctioned by the Premier League the family would have to prove the
competition between City and Liverpool would in no way be affected.

When it comes to splashing the cash, only one club can match Real Madrid cent for cent. Big
spending Manchester City have yet again opened their cheque book to sign Lazio's Serbian defender
Aleksandar Kolarov for a reported 19 million Pounds.
The owners of the club, the Abu Dhabi United Group have added Kolarov to their ever growing list
of world class players which includes Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, David Silva and former
Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure.

Manchester World (or I mean Manchester City) still hasn't really sold any players away this
summer and the team could potentially loan or sell around thirty players in the upcoming month
alone. The fringe players include well seasoned vets like Roque Santa Cruz and Craig Bellamy and
even youth development players that were never truly given a shot at performing for the Blues first
team.
Right then, we're finally here again. Do you remember the Liverpool game, the buzz, the excitement,
the passion, the drive?
Having had no real movement in the transfer market, our squad has gelled and is ready for action.
Thus far, Harry's been unable to add "that special player", but there are still 18 days left for

Manchester City are hoping to conquer more than just the Premier League this season with the
release of Blue Moon Rising, a behind-the scenes documentary that details City's first season under
Abu Dhabi control and contains interviews with players, staff and fans
I have always felt United have been spoilt for choice with goalkeepers, for the last ten years at
least, with Shay Given being and Steve Harper battling for the No.1 jersey. And now, even with
Given being No.2 at Manchester 'Abu Dhabi' City, United are still blessed in this position. The
fact that our No.
The CBF have confirmed that Brazil will take on Iran on 7th October 2010 in Abu Dhabi. Brazil
are ranked 4th in the world. Iran in 57th place. The South Americans will also play a second
friendly match on 11th. The opposition is yet to be confirmed but there is a possibility that it
could be Ukraine.

You might want to find something to plug your bowels as you're probably going to lose control of
them once you hear the following revelations.
Those prudent, thrifty Sheikhs over at Manchester City have today filed their financial results
for last year (meaning that this summer's massive outlay on the likes of David
Silva, Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure is not taken into
account), announcing that the club has 'suffered' record losses of £121.
City announce record losses of £121.3 million.
City owner Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi is determined to end Manchester City's 34 year trophy
drought, despite one of the heaviest financial loses in Premier League history. Having spent over
300 million on players, City lost a further 92.

Some actual footballing news today. Boring, I know.
Quick note first off as most of you know, I'm all for debate and expressing opinions and
anything short of virtually setting the blog on fire, so long as it's done respectfully and has
some sort of foundation. The vast majority of commenters that visit regularly get this, and as such
a pretty healthy community has developed.

Manchester City's owners have injected another £80m into the club, taking Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed

According to documents released to Companies House last Monday, Mansour purchased 37,547,169 new
shares in the Eastlands club on 30 September, each costing him £2.

Money is meaningless in the land of tomorrow
After gathering in Abu Dhabi to discuss their January transfer plans last week, the Manchester
City hierarchy have decided that they are willing to take a £50 million hit on five players
bought by former manager Mark Hughes, whilst also allowing goalkeeper Shay
Given to move on for the £7 million that the club originally paid Newcastle for his
services in February of 2009.
