Chelsea have made approximately 50 signings since the take-over of Roman Abramovich. About £470
million (and William Gallas) has been spent on these players – that averages out at just over £9
million (and one of Gallas' hands) per player.
In this time Chelsea have had some really disappointing players, especially when you consider
how much have been spent on some of these players.
I am reading reports today that Roman Abramovich has decided to ring the changes at Chelsea with
regards to player contracts in light of the money that has been blown away on past players. Its
been openly reported (here ) that Chelsea have lost approx £70m in salaries paid to players who
have contributed very little.
First there was Brand Beckham going to Hollywood. Now we have King Henry coming to the
Big Apple.
While MLS is getting that knack as a semi-retirement league for the world's greatest stars
(Frank Lampard has mentioned it as well), Henry's signing is still a major deal for the young
league.
Ok so we all know the Torres situation. I have been writing on here for weeks now about Torres and
his future..It has culminated in today my earlier post about the bets on Torres coming to Chelsea
being suspended by one bookmaker and Abramovich making big waves in the transfer market.
Since then Roy Hodgson spoke to press today and mentioned Fernando Torres.
Chelsea 1 Manchester United 3 (Community Shield, August 8, 2010)
Frank Arnesen has been quoted in THE SUN and has spoken of
Roman Abramovich's support
in developing from within the club. Its proof that Roman is looking at Chelsea's long term futures
and not just splashing the cash. Arnesen said:
"We knew when I came the aim in 2010-11 was to have at least one player in the first
team.
After all the goings on in Manchester last week and with reports and rumours galore that Chelsea
were interested in Wayne Rooney, it has come to light that Roman Abramovich would only had ever
been interested in any sort of deal ONLY if the player had run down his 18 months of his contract
and became a free agent.
As Manchester United's rout of Wigan signalled the end of the 2009 and the start of a yet
unnamed new decade, the signs on the horizon raise questions as to the future of English football
over the next 10 years? Can the growth and success of the noughties be replicated or do a plethora
of social, political and financial factors mean that English football has reached its pinnacle?

People often talk about the ‘brand of football' that Arsene Wenger has cultivated at Arsenal.
It is true that he has revolutionised the club- where less than two decades ago the name Arsenal
was synonymous with negative football, now it's associated with the opposite, and this is almost
solely the work of Arsene Wenger.
Is Roman Abramovich about to stun the football world once again as he did back in 2003/4. Has our
owner said enough is enough to Manchester City and is about to make moves for BOTH Wayne Rooney and
Fernando Torres?. The difference betweeen Roman and City's owners is that he loves his football and
is reportedly a massive fan of Rooney and Torres.
"Scolari reckons that Chelsea's success is all down to him", "Scolari insists that Chelsea's
current domination of England is thanks to him" and "I made Chelsea Great!" are ludicrous
statements from a number of newspapers recently.
I'm sure many other football supporters, like me, were intrigued by how ridiculous and audacious
these claims sound.
(In light of speculation surrounding Chelsea and the apparent "monies" Roman Abramovich has to
spend in the January transfer window)
You are now Carlo Ancelotti. You have just had a meeting with Roman Abramovich and he has confirmed
that he understands the situation with the squad and injuries and is willing to spend "Whatever it
takes" to make sure Chelsea remain strong throughout the full squad to cope with possible injuries
and suspensions.
As expected Carlo Ancelotti's future has been called into question once more and the rumours have
gained much more momentum since Arsenal on Monday night. Of course Guus Hiddink's name is being
touted about again as a replacement for Ancelotti but it is believed he doesn't want the day to day
management again.

However we choose to pronounce ‘2010' we have entered a new year and, indeed, a new decade. In
football, the past ten years might ultimately be remembered for any number of reasons: England's
5-1 win in Munich; David Beckham's free-kick against Greece; Arsenal's unbeaten Premier League
campaign; José Mourinho's sprint up the Old Trafford touchline in 2004 and the union with
Abramovich's billions that followed; Liverpool's comeback in Istanbul; Ronaldo's wink.
Following a rush of newspaper speculation in November, it all went very quiet on the Chelsea
transfer gossip front.
Until Friday that was, when the Telegraph kick-started the Aguero gossip again with the suggestion
that Chelsea have made a bid of £30m to Atletico for his services. The Daily Express joined the
party yesterday, suggesting that the Argentine's club had offered him to Chelsea for that figure
under the proviso that he could stay with them on loan until the end of the season.

Liverpool have not approached Guus Hiddink about taking over at Anfield, although the former
Chelsea manager would be interested in taking the reigns at the club in the summer, according to
his agent.
The Reds' poor form has lead to speculation that Rafael Benitez could lose his job, and Hiddink has
been consistently mentioned as a potential successor.
We all know about the Bundesliga's 50+1 rule, yes? It's not an extreme interpretation of Sepp
Blatter's 6+5, but rather a league rule ensuring that investors can not own more than 49% of any
Bundesliga club. This prevents the clubs being taken over by an Abramovich, Glazer, Hicks/Gillett
or Sheikh Mansour.
The Champions League will feature a hotly contested tie between Italian champions Inter and
English club Chelsea. There are many story-lines beyond Jose Mourinho's return to Stamford Bridge
as the winner of this Round of 16 clash should have safe passage to the semi-finals where European
champions Barcelona will likely be waiting.

The Times of London sounded the alarm back in November with this article and now it appears
imminent that UEFA will restrict the big spending habits of some of Europe's richest clubs.
In a 60-page plan being worked up at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, clubs would only be
able to spend only what they earn and not be allowed to take on large debts (and operating at a
loss) to fund player acquisitions.

After a four-year wait – a wait that spanned the hiring and firing of three post-Mourinho
managers and more disappointments than outright successes – Chelsea finally regained the Premier
League last Sunday.
The celebrations were momentous, with thousands of fans collecting outside the Britannia gate for
collective singing, dancing, and scaling of scaffolding and lampposts.

So as we all know every Summer the transfer rumour mill springs into life. This Summer with the
addition of the World Cup, Jose Mourinho being appointed the new Real Madrid manager in the coming
days and the rest of the Premiership sides looking to bolster their squad to make a challenge next
season, its already in full swing and the season has only just finished.
Italian Super agent Enzo Bronzetti who has very strong ties to Real Madrid has spoke of Chelsea's
interest in
Kaka. However it seems as though whereas one person wants him, the other is not
so sure. He said:
"Ancelotti wants Kaka. Abramovich, however, does not seem very convinced.

I was reading this article this morning and it made me realise that its been since way back to the
Summer of 2006 that Chelsea spent more than £20m on a single player.
I was taken a back slightly as after all we have had the "bought the league!" comments thrown at us
ever since. So I checked out this website and there it is for all to see and its true.
Since the World Cup started a few weeks ago, there has been very few news that featured clubs and
even fewer transfer news. But in what seems like an oasis in a desert, David Silva becomes the
latest player to be linked with Chelsea.
As always when Chelsea are linked with a player, there will always be Manchester City sniffing
around like a hyena to pounce on for a free meal.
The Glazers are taking too much money out of our club and are running the risk of us being
swallowed up by debt.
As fans, we should be united in wanting to get rid of ownership which is holding our club back.
Looking at what we've won since 2005, that is in spite of the Glazers.
This isn't about MUST, this isn't FC United, or anything else that can at times cause divides
amongst our fanbase.
Truly Reds has never been radical or politically driven nor is it about to start preaching anarchy
now. We believe however, that the time has come for football fans to take control of their
clubs...

prospective new owners will provide a profitable future at Anfield.
The Reds have agreed in principle to sell the club to New England Sports Ventures, but co-owners
Tom Hicks and George Gillett are trying to block the deal.
There is an article published in the Daily Telegraph yesterday featuring an interview with Harry
Redknapp. The interview refers to the situation at Liverpool and the new American owners coming in.
While Redknapp uses the situation as an example of how things have gone wrong there, he also has
time to praise Roman Abramovich and how he "loves it at Chelsea".
