By 1970's Gooner Never the mind the defeat. It was only a friendly and Arsenal played some
beautiful football albeit without penetration again. But more on the game in a later posting. What
has inspired me is Diaby's performance. He is the new Vieira and even better. Until he was
substituted in the middle of the second half, he was immense, running the game from the central
midfield position
By 1970's Gooner on the friendly game at Salzburg It was like watching one of the many games that
Arsenal played last season. Domination throughout the pitch, playing the beautiful fame but lacking
penetrative threat up front with no killer instinct when needed. And finally making mistakes at the
back which allowed the inferior opposition to steal an unexpected win.
Only two days after defeating Chelsea in the Premier League Arsenal travel to Ewood Park to face
Blackburn in the Carling Cup quarterfinals.
The team is likely to be hugely different from the near-full-strength squad that beat the blues to
keep Arsenal on top of the Premier League, as Arsene Wenger always tries to field his kids during
cup ties.
Arsene Wenger will continue to blood his youngsters in the Carling Cup, even against the tough
opposition of Blackburn. The Arsenal coach feels that playing a young squad will not only increase
the experience of Arsenal's fringe players, but also allow the Gunners' senior squad a chance to
rest during period congested with fixtures.
Kolo Toure and a trio of Arsenal's midfielders did not travel to the Czech Republic for Wednesday's
match against Slavia Prague.
Arsene Wenger explained to Arsenal.com that Cesc Fabregas and Alex Hleb were being rested while
Kolo Toure and Tomas Rosicky were recovering from minor injuries picked up in the 2-2 draw with
Manchester United on Saturday.
By 1970's Gooner It's usually the other way round. Arsenal dominate, fail to score and at the end
fall to the sucker punch. This was the story of Arsenal last season and it repeated itself in the
friendly against Salzburg in Austria a few days ago. This time for the Emirates Cup PSG dominated
the game in the first half but wasted the good chances they created.
By 1970s Gooner The news coming out of the France national team's camp is that Mathieu Flamini has
cut short his international week and is flying back to London to be attended by Arsenal's doctors.
Flamini 'suffered a little something', Domenech said without explaining the extent of the injury.
He will not travel to Kiev to face the Ukraine in France's last qualifying game.

By 1970's Gooner One aspect that seems to characterize this new Arsenal side is the real strength
in depth that exists in the squad. And by real I mean that this squad has quality replacements in
all positions. This has been very evident during the very satisfying and successful tournament wins
at the Emirates and in Amsterdam. Take the goalkeeping position with Almunia proving more than
Mathieu Flamini and Abou Diaby both picked up minor injuries while on international duty with
France.
Flamini, who has started every Premier League game Arsenal have played this season, has returned to
London after picking up a knock. The 23 year-old made his France debut on Saturday, but will be
missing out on his country's final qualifying match against Ukraine (not that it matters as France
is already assured a place and Ukraine is already out).
Arsenal defeated Steaua Bucharest 2-1 at the Emirates, returning to their winning ways before a
tough fixture against Chelsea on Sunday.
The victory, which saw the return from injury of Robin van Persie, was not enough to put the
Gunners at the top of their group, meaning that they will have to face Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC
Milan, Inter Milan, or Porto in the knockout stages.
By 1970's Gooner Arsenal's line up for the first game of the season against Fulham is not yet that
clear. Nor is Fulham's. Arsenal are giving a late fitness test to Eduardo who therefore looks
likely to start if he passes it and partner Van Persie up front. But if he doesn't then Wenger is
faced with a very interesting choice between rookie Bendtner and more experienced Hleb.
Arsene Wenger said before the international break that he feared that the international break might
result in injuries to key members of his Arsenal squad, and he couldn't have been more right.
We learned that Mathieu Flamini and Abou Diaby had been hurt during their international matches for
France and the French U21 team respectively, after Saturday's matches.
By Arsenal Analysis season ticket holder at the Emirates, South Stand: Row 5 The two pre-season
tournaments that Arsenal participated in proved the perfect vehicle for fostering team spirit and
bonding between the players. And this involved playing time for all the active members of the
squad. The excellent work done on and off the pitch at the Emirates and in Amsterdam culminated in

By 1970's Gooner Arsene Wenger has a decision to make for the Champions League Group H encounter
against Sevilla. Does he continue with Gilberto in central defence or does he opt for the returning
Senderos. This is a much more difficult decision than it first appears because either selection
will have repercussions elsewhere in the formation of the team but also in Wenger's future
planning.
Mathieu Flamini and Alex Hleb have joined Arsenal's lengthy injury list for tomorrow's game at St.
James' Park. The pair join fellow midfielders Cesc Fabregas and Abou Diaby, as well as long-term
casualty Robin van Persie.
Hleb picked up a hamstring injury during Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa over the weekend
after a nasty tackle.
