Wenger Wants Arsenal Quartet to Withdraw From Olympics
According to The Telegraph's website, Arsene Wenger has told Jack Wilshere to
withdraw his name from the Olympics-bound Great Britain team and the injured
midfielder is all set to act upon his club manager's advice.
Morning all, a new week begins and begins with Arsenal looking to stretch their lead in third
place to a healthy 8 points, despite the fact that T*ttenham will have a game in hand.
Starting with the team news and we've lost nobody since Wolves and there may be a couple of
additions. Arsene says Gervinho is 80:20 to make the squad tonight while Kieran Gibbs is 50:50.
Not surprising. The Egyptian Premier League has been cancelled in the aftermath of the Port Said
riots on Feb 1st which claimed 74 lives. It has been replaced by a friendly "martyrs" tournament
that will run from 29 March to 18 May and include 18 teams.
Al Masry, the club whose fans instigated the tragic events of that day have been expelled from
the tournament.
This January's Arsenal transfer news was relatively quiet at the Emirates Stadium, with Thierry
Henry returning to the club on loan from New York Red Bulls and German teenager Thomas Eisfeld
arriving from Borussia Dortmund for a modest fee.
However, activity has not always been this sedate at Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger making some
surprising and at times, blockbuster signings in January.

Mohamed Abou-treika whose accomplishments as a humanitarian are as luminous as his
accomplishments on the soccer pitch announced his retirement from his beloved Al Ahly club. He was
joined by fellow icons Emad Moteab and Mohamed Barakat, all stalwarts of the club as they made
their announcement on Ahly TV.
At least 73 people have been killed and over 1,000 injured after violence erupted at the final
whistle of an Egyptian Premier League game between Al-Masry and Al-Ahly.
"This is not football. This is a war and people are dying in front of us. There is no movement
and no security and no ambulances," Ahli player and Egypt star Mohamed Abou Treika told his club's
television channel.
Arsenal's 1-0 defeat over Manchester City on Sunday casted doubts on Arsene Wenger's head over
the Gunners' chance in battling for the league title with City this season considering the point
gap between them are a bit too far at the moment.
However, Wenger confirmed to their fans that his team will continue to give their shot until
things finally becomes impossible as although acknowledging that chasing the Eastlands would be
difficult, there's always a chance since the season is still long.

Ahead of the game that could seal the Gunners' progression from the group stages, Arsène Wenger
offered very little bad news regarding the Arsenal squad for the Borussia Dortmund encounter on
Wednesday evening. While Tomas Rosicky will be disappointed to be unable to face his former side
with "a small thigh strain", Abou Diaby's recovery [.
Hi Phil, I'm Abou
Premier League returns today. Hurrah!! On current form and given it's Norwich we have to play
today, one would think 3 points is a guarantee. Yet, this match may not be as easy as one thinks.
If it turns out to be as easy as our last game, I'm all for it but the number suggest
otherwise.
09.10.2011 - Con goles de
Camara (´58 y ´90),
Hassan (´71),
Feindouno (´77),
Old friends reunite at the Emirates, with Kenny Dalglish's side looking to take all three points
from Arsenal at their home ground for the first time since the twenty pixels that make up Titi
Camara's body gave Liverpool the win at Highbury in the 1999-2000 season. Any points against
Arsenal have been hard to come by, but this fixture has been an absolute beast.
Frankly, I might as well just cut and paste different bits from match reports from last season.
Apart from better defending, everything I watched today I've seen before: Arsenal denied a
perfectly good penalty; Arsenal player sent off in ridiculous refereeing injustice; Joey Barton
being a Grade A tosser.
With this series InTheStands asses and predicts the transfermations (Transfers /
transformations) that each Premiership club will go through during the summer...starting with
Arsenal.
Where they stand:
After a disappointing conclusion to their season, Arsenal must use their pre-season and the
increased financial support from Stan Kroenke to fortify a young and under-experienced squad.
Arsenal kept their title hopes alive and cut the gap at the top to seven points after enjoying a
1-3 away from home win against Blackpool, on Sunday. A brilliant Abou Diaby opened the scoring for

Newcastle 4 Arsenal 4
Even for a team which specialises in collapses, this was a new low. I don't want to labour the
point, but to blow a four goal lead takes a special kind of ineptitude. And yes, Abou Disby's
sending off hurt us, but there's no getting away from the fact that in our last four matches, we've
seen five outrageous refereeing decisions go against us - the kind of decisions which dramatically
change matches.
Hmmmm where to start with this one? Do I focus on the first half; do I focus on the embarrassing
Phil Dowd or do I focus on the much maligned Diaby?
Well, the title works anyway, the first forty five minutes were not just good they were great
and certainly the best we have seen since Blackpool at the beginning of the season.
NEWCASTLE, England Newcastle staged one of the greatest fightbacks in Premier League history on
Saturday, dealing a blow to Arsenal's title hopes to claim a 4-4 draw on a day of record
goal-scoring. The second-placed Gunners ran riot in an extraordinary opening at St James Park,
sweeping into a 4-0 lead after only 26 [.
On an exciting day of Premier League action, perhaps the most one-sided game has been the
fixture between Newcastle United and Arsenal. With the Gunners leading 4-0 at the end of the first
half, little was expected from the hosts at St. James' Park following the interval.
However, the second period has already began on a positive note for the Magpies.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed defender Sebastien Squillaci and midfielder Abou Diaby have
recovered from a hamstring and calf injury respectively and will be in the squad for Sunday's FA
Cup against Huddersfield. Speaking to Arsenal ...
