Canadian midfielder Dwayne de Rosario has joined Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic on trial, the club have revealed. De Rosario, 32, is currently contracted to MLS outfit Toronto FC, and has two leaves left on his contract with TFC. In one of the more predictable developments of this Scottish football December, perennial third placers Hearts have backed calls for the top four SPL teams to be involved in a championship play off competition.
I can't figure out the appeal for third placed Hearts at all.
Again, I don't think Dundee United's Stephen Thomspon was being genuine with his proposal.

GLASGOW, Scotland — All of this Saturday's six matches in the Scottish Premier League (SPL) have been postponed because of the cold snap that has hit much of Britain. That means there will be no action at all in the 12-club SPL this weekend, with Saturday's fixtures between Aberdeen and Celtic, Hibernian and St Mirren, [.

Not yet confirmed but it looks like Craig Brown is on his way to Aberdeen after all. After saying "no" at first it now looks like persistence has paid off for Stewart Milne and the Aberdeen board.
What you might call a ginormous kick in the nads for Motherwell, who lose a second manager to Aberdeen in as many as years.

As I said last night Craig Brown's departure is a right sair one for Motherwell.
And a sair one they are distinctly unchuffed about. The Motherwell official statement wishes Brown and Archie Knox well. But.
"Separately we do wish to make clear that as a Board we believe that the conduct of the Board of Aberdeen in this matter has been wholly inappropriate and in clear breach of SPL rules as well as basic courtesy.

Eighteen months after Aberdeen last raided Motherwell for a manager, they've decided that one is not fit for the purpose, and have gone back to the same dealers to get a better one.

Eighteen months might not be, in the grand scheme of things, a very long time to give a manager to prove himself, but in this instance the prevailing opinion is that the Aberdeen board showed the patience of saints (or at least, the patience of a board who couldn't afford a big pay-off) in giving Mark McGhee as long as they did.

After their weekend capitulation to Hearts, Craig Brown started his first official day as manager of an Aberdeen side badly in need a lift on Monday.
What better way to mark the new era than to welcome back an old blogger? Seb Gevers, once of Inside Left (maybe still of Inside Left, kind of) appears to have launched The Red And The White: A Year In The Life Of Aberdeen FC.

Carlo Ancelotti has hailed Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of Sunday's game, where our manager will become the longest serving manager in the club's history, beating Sir Matt Busby by a day.

"He's involved in United not just as coach but also really inside this club," said Ancelotti. "He has a lot of passion.

A famous five today, St Johnstone's clash with Rangers having already lost out to the weather. Hamilton have a pitch inspection scheduled for this morning. If New Douglas Park isn't fit to stage the match then the Accies will not have played a match this month.
Hamilton v Aberdeen
If this one goes ahead then it will be the only professional match in Britain kicking off this afternoon.
