One day Patrice Evra will write a book. He has an inspirational story to tell by a footballer who

Hard on the heels of the story about Scotsmen and women supporting England at the World Cup comes
another twist in the debate – only this one will have everyone rolling their eyes in dismay.
An Aberdeen shop owner has caught the eye of the local police, according to the Daily Record. His
crime?
Britain's standard-bearer ultras group, Aberdeen's Red Ultras, disbanded earlier this month.
Their website simply states:
We are sad to announce that as of Tuesday 5th January 2010 the Aberdeen Red Ultras have ceased
to exist.
The Red Ultras were set up in 1999 by a group of supporters who wished to bring colour and
atmosphere to games involving our beloved Aberdeen Football Club.
Maurice Edu will hope to shake off a minor ankle injury when Rangers welcome in Aberdeen to Ibrox
Stadium on Tuesday evening in Glasgow.
Patrice Evra is one of the best left backs in the world, and in an exclusive interview with Matt
Lawton, he talks about what it's like in the Manchester United locker room.
Ferguson in pre-game: "Before a game he always tells a small story. Sometimes he talks about when
he was the Aberdeen manager.
A company selling "Anyone but England" T-shirts for this year's World Cup has rejected suggestions
it is racist after police in Aberdeen visited its store.
As we all wait patiently, indeed joyously, for the imminent smelting of the Iron Lady (my call
would be for an auto da fé rather than anything approaching a dignified exit), one of her free
market legacies is the corruption of our sporting world.
And we have the ultimate example of football moving from a game to a sport to an entertainment to
an insider manipulation with the first Auld Firm game of the season next weekend.
Canadian midfielder Dwayne de Rosario has joined Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic on trial, the club
have revealed. De Rosario, 32, is currently contracted to MLS outfit Toronto FC, and has two leaves
left on his contract with TFC. Toronto denied reports that De Rosario had left the club on trial,
but Celtic manager Neil Lennon [.
Ay ay all, and fit like theday? It's amazing to think there's only a few more games to go in this
season. It seems like only last week when the season kicked off, and we had so much to look forward
to. As an Aberdeen fan, the season started with a great deal of optimism and hope, [...]
It's been reported that Scotland fans are cheekily buying up U.S.A. and Argentina shirts in
defiance of the old enemy, for this Summer's World Cup Finals in South Africa, with both shirts
selling nearly two to one of England shirts in the U.

There will be a few people within football that won't have had the best of weekends. Ray Wilkins
will still be scratching his head as to how he lost his job as Chelsea assistant, while both Mark
McGhee and Andy Hessenthaler will be feeling the increasing pressure on them after defeats for
Aberdeen and Gillingham respectively.

In one of the more predictable developments of this Scottish football December, perennial third
placers Hearts have backed calls for the top four SPL teams to be involved in a championship play
off competition.
I can't figure out the appeal for third placed Hearts at all.
Again, I don't think Dundee United's Stephen Thomspon was being genuine with his proposal.
With the fourth round of the Scottish Cup taking place this weekend it was always going to be a
quiet time in Scottish football. But thanks to the weather, it's going to be even quieter. Unless
you're East Fife's lawyer.. We where disturbed to hear this week of the SFA's cunning plan to keep
competition in [.
It's been a while, but at last we've a full set of games on a Saturday. So, send the kids to the
neighbours, the wife to the shops and yourself down the stadium, as we look forward to another
weekender full of top, well, okay-ish, footballing skill, thrills and dodgy refereeing decisions!
We've no time this [.
Jimmy Calderwood didn't get off to the best of starts as he tries to rekindle his managerial career
his Kilmarnock side went down 3-0 at home to Motherwell. We often hear about the effect that a
change of manager has on a side. For many trigger-happy chairmen, it's the main reason why they

What a difference a week (or so) makes. Mental note to self: after not having blogged for many blue
moons, avoid doing so when you're still getting over a rather sore defeat in a cup tournament. The
path trodden by Jambos is a turbulent and frustrating one, that's for sure, but this week we
definitely have something to smile about.
Sir Alex Ferguson spoke to a group of philosophy students at Dublin's Trinity College about
power, control and success.
"If I lose control of these multi-millionaires in the Manchester United dressing room then
I'm dead," said Ferguson. "So I never lose control. If anyone steps out of my control,
that's them dead.
Thank goodness all that Cup nonsense is out of the way. It's Saturday, meaning there's nae work,
only good 'ole Leage Football. This weekend sees a full fixture list across all four divisions,
which given recent meteorological events is a rare occurance indeed. Is this perhaps the first
signs of the Second Coming?
In a remarkable weekend of Scottish fitba in which the league leaders across the four divisions of
Scottish football either saved or dropped valuable points in injury time, Inside Left comes out
smelling of roses, as the predictions we made on Friday turn out to be almost correct. I was
actually a minute or so away [.

The British ultra scene suffered a bit of a set back a couple of weeks back with the news that the
Red Ultras of Aberdeen had disbanded. Hassle from the police, stewards and even ex-players meant
they finally laid down their red flags and hoisted up the white ones of defeat. I've no doubt
they'll be back though, probably bigger and better.
Derby County have signed versatile Manchester City youngster Javan Vidal on loan until the end
of the season.
The 20-year-old England youth international can operate at right-back or on the right-hand side
of midfield.
Vidal is yet to feature for City's first team but had loan spells with Grimsby and Aberdeen last
season.
Celtic failed to get the expected lift from Robbie Keane's induction as they fall to Kilmarnock.
Their £68,000 a week signing failed in three attempts to score. It was Chris Maguire signed
yesterday from Aberdeen having a dream debut and scoring the winner for Kilmarnock in the 53rd
minute.
This article may well consign my application as a regular contributor for the Aberdeen match day
programme to the bin, but it won't be the only thing around here that's worth binning, to wit: Mark
McGhee, Aberdeen FC's dreams of European football next season (or any season, for that matter) and
the hopes and dreams [.

Maurice Edu and Rangers are now just two wins shy of successfully defending their Scottish Premier
League crown after putting away Aberdeen on Wednesday night at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow.
Rangers added three more points to the top of the Scottish Premier League table on Wednesday,
beating Aberdeen 3-1 at Ibrox. Rangers were leading 2-0 with goals from Steven Davis (24th) and
Kyle Lafferty (65th) before Aberdeen pulled one back when Darren Mackie scored in the 68th. Kenny
Miller finished off the scoring for Rangers in the 76th.
The following book review was originally published in the excellent Scotzine fanzine The
12th Man Issue 8, available from their website.
Willie Miller is the most successful club captain outside of the Old Firm, has played more times
for Aberdeen than anyone else and retired from Scotland as the third most capped player of all time
(as of current writing he is seventh equal).
Aye aye, fit like min? Well, this is it: the final round of games in the SPL before we hit the
oh-so-popular league split. There's no real suspense in figuring out who this years lucky
competitors are: last weeks results, and in particular Aberdeen's and St Johnstone's defeats made
pretty sure that Hearts would be the [.
Despite a much improved performance from Sunday's fiasco against Kilmarnock, Aberdeen once again
became the victims of their own poor defending and inability to deliver a decent final ball to go
down 3-1 to an always stronger and more dangerous Rangers side. Despite having the lion's share of
the possession, Aberdeen's dud strike force only managed [.
As I'm writing this, the Barcelona v Arsenal game is on. It's not even half time, and Lionel Messi
has scored three times in twenty minutes. In other words, a real cracker of a game, apparently. I
say apparently because I'm following the score updates courtesy of ESPN's Live Scoreboard. It's
Tuesday which means Holby [.
It is not often, living abroad as I do, that I get to see Aberdeen in action. The odd live game is
taken in if and when the schedule and the airfare allows it, so for the most part I catch up on the
Dons news and action via the official website or, for a [...]
It has been a difficult season for Scottish football. With the financial crisis that engulfed the
world also hitting the SPL, clubs have entered into a period of austerity in order to survive.
This is even the case at the very top - Rangers are in the red to the tune of around £30 million
and haven't signed a player for more than a year, while Celtic's failure to make the Champions
League group stages meant new boss Tony Mowbray has had some belt tightening to do since his
arrival last summer.
(Summary is not available.)
I apologize to my reader(s) for the better late than never version of "The Week in Review," I know
you have been missing sleep over it. Rangers v. Aberdeen 4-7-10 Maurice Edu and the 'Gers pulled
out to a two goal lead before finishing off Aberdeen 3-1. 47,601 watched the full 90 minutes live,
47,602 if you count DaMarcus Beasley.

Gordon Strachan's interview this week with Late Kick Off revealed some interesting insights into
how the gaffer has viewed this season and how he wants to see the team develop. On this season
there's no getting away from the abject disappointment that both he and the chairman feel about the
way it's gone, interesting that he says that he ‘hopes the players do too'.
