Sir Alex Ferguson claimed it was fate that saw the Premier League champions stuff even more
silverware into their trophy cabinet on Wednesday evening. It is exactly 50 years after the Munich
air disaster and it was rather fitting that Sir Bobby Charlton was involved in the presentation
ceremony, a true Manchester United legend that [.
I tried to pull up Manchester United's opening preseason match, a 2-0 win over Aberdeen, but was
having too many buffering issues. Wayne Rooney was the star on a day when Sir Alex Ferguson was the
hero. The former Aberdeen...
There has been plenty written about the Aberdeen game already. I managed to take in about an hour
of the game before I had to take off for a day out with my mates. (The subsequent day out led to a
late morning hence the late post today.) But I'll quickly put up some brief

Sir Alex Ferguson knows what it takes to win. Just look at his record in management. A first
division title with St Mirren, 10 trophies with Aberdeen, two of those European Cups and an
astonishing 30 pieces of silverware in 22 years at Manchester United. However, over those years, he
has ...

When you go into business as a football kit manufacturer, the chances are you'll produce some
designs that prove very popular with the supporters and some that will turn out to be absolute
stinkers. No maker of football kits can ever claim to have hit the bullseye with every design, but
if they at least come up with something original, they'll at least have achieved something.
If the match reports don't make gloomy enough reading, I thought I'd add some more grumbles to the
mix in the wake of today's chaotic fixture at Pittodrie. WHAT was that all about? Two red cards, a
handful of yellows, players kicking each other, players kicking doors, bills for broken glass. Our
players weren't just useless today, it would seem that they were also somewhat bereft of anything
approximating Christmas spirit.
Gary Neville saw out the first half for United in our friendly against Aberdeen yesterday, in a
match that we won 2-0. After making just one appearance for the first team last season, coming on
in the second half against Roma in the Champions League, Neville is eager to prove his fitness and
fight for his [.

Manchester United: Highlights - Pre Season
In a somewhat emotional return to Aberdeen for Sir Alex Ferguson, 25 years after winning the UEFA
Cup Winners Cup against Real Madrid, United finished 2-0 winners. Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney
were the goalscorers, in a game which featured first teamers Gary Neville, John O'Shea Wes Brown,
Nemanja Vidic, Michel Silestre, Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, [.
Pre-season started in earnest last night with a whole host of games being played to enable our
finest footballers to get over their Summer rest and get them hamstrings stretching again.
There was also a full programme of friendly matches today as well as the Intertoto Cup it was a
full day of footie action.
A goal in each half saw Manchester United start their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 win at
Aberdeen. In a game scheduled to celebrate 25 years since United boss Sir Alex Ferguson steered the
Dons to European Cup Winners' Cup glory against Real Madrid, the current European champions proved
too strong.
A Derek Young goal in the last minute of the first half cancelled out a David Weir's 24th minute
goal and has the sides going in level at half time. Rangers have definitely been on top with all
the possession and the chances. Steven Davis and Pedro Mendes have been particularly tricky for the

Moyes and Ferguson are two bookends, at utterly separate stages of their career, but ther are the
two shining lights of Scottish management. Whereas Sir Alex has managed five clubs; East
Stirlingshire, St Mirren Aberdeen, Scotland, and Manchester United - Moyes has managed just two
Preston North End and Everton - and at both clubs [.

Celtic is looking ahead beyond this Scottish FA Cup live online commentary and radio telecast
replay between them and Aberdeen and hoping that Rangers do their part and set up an Old Firm FA
Cup final at Hampden to end the season on a high. This might not be the best thing to do as they
still have to overcome the Dons tonight but one cannot blame the Hoops for doing so given their
record against Aberdeen, including a recent 5-1 thrashing at Parkhead.
Well, apparently, here's the scoreboard for today:
Kpene: He's here.
Ngwenya: Who?
Derek Soutar: "WTF" says the Dom
TSU: Go and Tigers!
So right now it looks as if Texas Souther athletic director Charles McClelland (above) wants to get
Houston's own historic black university on board what amounts to the Dynamo Park ship.
Colin Calderwood delighted as Lee Miller extends Aberdeen stay Headline from Times Online today.
Why on earth would Colin care? Glad that our paper of record has such an on the ball sports desk.
Good news for Jimmy Calderwood though as he rebuilds for next season.
Jimmy Bonthrone, who managed Aberdeen between 1971 and 1975, has died at the age of 79.
One of five managers at Pittodrie during the seventies, Jimmy was also an accomplished striker at East Fife, Dundee, Stirling Albion and Queen of the South, before taking over from Eddie Turnbull as Aberdeen manager following Turnbull's appointment as Hibernian manager.

As newspapers across the world fill their pages with transfer gossip, football fans are surely
wondering when they can actually see their heroes step onto the pitch again. Surprisingly, most
teams kick off their preseason schedules in about a week. Premiership Talk highlights Premiership
teams' preseason plans:
- Manchester United kickoff their preseason against Aberdeen on July 12th.
Amidst the supposed gloom and transfer kerfuffle, Manchester United, as if like an afterthought,
return to playing action against Aberdeen tomorrow. So much has one man taken the wind out of any
success or pre-season, that so little is being talked about our forthcoming clash against a side
with a rich history.
Today Aberdeen take on Manchester United at Pittodrie in a game that marks the end of the
celebrations to commemorate the north-east club's famous win against Real Madrid in 1983, some
twenty-five years ago. Today is a time for looking back and celebrating arguably the finest moment
in Aberdeen's history and though the game, and [.

Former Celtic youth member Charlie Mulgrew dazzled his former supporters with two professional
goals as Aberdeen nearly upset Scottish power Celtic in league action. The 22-year old left
back/left winger scored his second goal in the 65th minute to put Aberdeen in front. It did
not take long for The Bhoys to answer.
