South Florida is a magnet for Soccer news and will continue to make headlines as Major League
Soccer teams get ready for preseason training in our area.
D.C. United
The first team to pay a visit to our area will be D.C. United as they announced the club's
preseason schedule this week.
A busy soccer weekend just passed and it's leading into more football goodness all week with the
start of the Gold Cup.
But first off, some of the American Outlaws decided to meet up at Fox & Hound close to Lockhart
Stadium stadium to watch the USA vs Spain game. this was a pinful game to watch as the American's
were schooled by a much better Spanish side.
Time for another former Sporting KC update. The Mexican league has kicked back off, so Herculez
Gomez is back in action. Will John's time with the Missouri Comets also appears to be over now as
well. Nelson Pizarro is still out there, he's been brought on to the San Diego Sockers from the San
Diego Fusion.

Time for a week of former SKC Wizards updates. First some congrats to two goalkeepers, Kevin
Hartman for recording his 100th MLS shutout over the weekend, and to Neal Kitson for scoring a goal
in Rochester's 2-2 draw. Herculez Gomez has a new club as he has moved to play with Tecos in the
Mexican first division.
Another week of former Sporting KC Wizards updates. The international season has basically wound

All eight NASL teams were in action on Week 11 of the NASL season. On Saturday afternoon. the
Montreal Impact and Fort Lauderdale Strikers played to a scoreless draw at Saputo Stadium. In
Cary, NC the unbeatable Carolina RailHawks continued their remarkable run with a 3-1 victory over
FC Tampa Bay.
NASL Week 14 consisted of two reversals of fortune, as NSC Minnesota beat the Carolina RailHawks
1-0 Saturday to break Carolina's 13 game unbeaten streak, while the Atlanta Silverbacks got only
their second win of the season, holding on for a 3-2 victory in Fort Lauderdale over the
Strikers.
All eight NASL teams were in action Saturday night. The two Florida franchises had big nights,
as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers pinned a rare loss on the Carolina RailHawks at Lockhart Stadium
while FC Tampa Bay won 4-0 in Atlanta over the Silverbacks. Saturday's other two matches were also
won by the visiting team, as the NSC Minnesota Stars hung another loss on the Montreal Impact at
Saputo Stadium and the Puerto Rico Islanders rebounded from their CONCACAF Champions League
elimination by eking out a 1-0 victory in Edmonton.
Another week of former SKC Wizards updates. Nick Cardenas is still getting looks from the Sporting
KC coaching staff and I'd expect him to be invited to preseason this coming year. Two other former
Wizards have taken coaching jobs under Jesse Marsch with the Montreal Impact. Preston Burpo has
been named the team's goalkeeper coach, while Mike Sorber has joined as an assistant coach.
Strikers Billboard is up! If you are headed Northbound on I-95 be on the look out for this new Fort
Lauderdale Strikers sign pictures captured by Miami Ultra Pabony Rivera and Flight 19 member Derek
Reese. It's between Sunrise and Oakland Park.
The good news we hear is that the Strikers front office is selling season tickets like hotcakes!
Here's another Former SKC Wizards update for you this week. The MLS season kicked off last night,
which means that it's a new "season" for former SKC Wizards players. This year one player led most
of the categories. Yura Movsisyan had the most appearances (41), most starts (35), most minutes
(3,136), and goals (21) last season.

Fort Lauderdale Strikers #9 Abe Thompson was generous with his time and talked to Miami Ultras
Alive on our 9th show. Number 9 on MUA#9, coincidence...?
Abe scored his first Strikers goal this past weekend and celebrated with the fans in the stadium
and now on our internet radio show. Abe now has some good mojo coming his way.

On Wednesday evening, the long-awaited first installment of the new NASL Florida derby kicked
off, as the Fort Lauderdale Strikers hosted FC Tampa Bay. Both teams came away with a point in a
1-1 tie. In Montreal, interim Coach Nick De Santis, replacing Marc Dos Santos after his
resignation earlier this week, guided the Impact to a scoreless draw with the 2010 D2 champion
Puerto Rico Islanders.

This season certainly isn't going as scripted for the Montreal Impact.

The Carolina Railhawks will have to wait another week to wrap up their playoff spot.
After a 1-0 victory over the Atlanta Railhawks, Carolina needed only for Montreal to lose or
draw against the Puerto Rico Islanders to assure themselves a postseason berth, but the Impact came
out with a surprising 1-0 victory of their own.
Here is this week's Sporting KC Wizards update. Lots of European teams seasons are starting to kick
off. In other news, Eddie Johnson is still looking for a club, but he's in the news as part of a
domestic dispute with his wife. It appears his wife may have caught the former Wizard and Fulham
forward cheating on her.

What a great night at Lockhart Stadium this Saturday when the Strikers defeated FC Edmonton 5-0
thanks to a hat trick by Abe Thompson and a brace by Brian Shriver. The team played inspired
football and gave South Florida a true show that we hope we can see again next week as the playoffs
continue.
The Strikers will face the Puerto Rico Islanders this coming Saturday in the first of 2 games to
determine who advances to the NASL Finals.

For the six months, the NASL marveled at FC Edmonton's discipline, maturity and ability to grind
out results.
Well so much for that.
The expansion side showed their youth and inexperience in a 5-0 loss to the Fort Lauderdale
Strikers during the quarterfinals of the NASL playoffs.
A week of very little action for former SKC Wizards due to the international break this week, but
there were some games this past week involving former players. Here is this week's update.

This week's former SKC Wizards is up for you. A couple former Wizards could be on the move. Sunil
Chhetri is apparently getting ready to go on trial with Scottish club Rangers. Chhetri's had trials
in England previously, but had been unable to earn a work permit. Not sure how that will change
this time.
Here's your former SKC Wizards update for this week. Lots of news, including 6 new former Wizards.
Jeferson, Scott Lorenz, Craig Rocastle, Seth Sinovic, Ryan Smith, and Milos Stojcev are all now
classified officially as former Wizards. Also in the news is the movement of Tyson Wahl, who was
traded from Seattle to Montreal for allocation money.
Another week of former SKC Wizards updates. The MLS season is over, but there's been a lot of busy
stuff going on this week. Today the league announced the players entered into the Re-entry draft,
plenty of former players are available, including Adam, Cristman, Taylor Graham, Frankie Hejduk,
Jonathan Leathers, Rauwshan McKenzie, Kurt Morsink, Ryan Pore, and Scott Sealy.

Another former SKC Wizards Update, plenty of player movement this week. Jonathan Leathers, Rauwshan
McKenzie, and Ryan Pore are now without clubs after not being selected in the second stage of the
re-entry draft. They're joined by Shavar Thomas who also wasn't selected. Also looking for a new
club, is Stephane Auvray whose was let go by the Red Bulls.
A day late on the former SKC Wizards update, but being a day late has given me a little extra news
to post. Word on the Twitter account for Mexican club, Puebla FC is that they are signing former
Wizards player, Eddie Johnson. Johnson would join the brother of another Wizard, as DaMarcus
Beasley also plays for Puebla FC.
An incredibly quiet week in former SKC Wizards news with the Christmas season in full affect. But
