There hasn't been a great deal of business done that has impressed me in the Premier League this

Here are my thoughts on the best buys of the Premier League season 2008/09.
Abdoulaye Faye, Stoke City
Man-mountain Abdoulaye Faye has been immense for Stoke this season and they absolute rock in
their defence.
When I saw Newcastle United's lineup today before their 3-0 loss to Liverpool, I said aloud:
Joey Barton's going to get a red card. I only meant it to elicit a laugh from friends, but
with Newcastle's fate in the balance and Barton's famous temper in mind, I had a vision of Barton
heading for the showers a bit earlier than his co-workers.

A dismal match in which a late goal provided little consolation for angry and
dissatisfied Bolton fans.
The penultimate weekend of the season provoked plenty of Right Result activity at the top and

Manchester United's day just about went to plan as they secured their 11th Premier League title
with a nil-nil draw against Arsenal. It wasn't without a few jitters before the end of the game at
Old Trafford, but such concerns should have been avoided.
Cruel on Stoke as Florent Malouda scores a very late winner at the Britannia.

. Chelsea had a stern test of the physical game at the Britannia Stadium, before taking all three

Newcastle Legend Alan Shearer has issued a rallying cry to his troubled Newcastle side following
Saturdays draw at Stoke. The Magpies all time top scorer - currently in a temporary managerial
position at the club - called on his team to fight to the wire in what promises to be a close
relegation battle for Premier league survival.
Stoke City's victory at home to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday all but confirmed their place in
the Premier League for a second season. After being written off by the media from the start and
with bookmakers Paddy Power paying out on their relegation back in September, this is as an amazing
achievement for Tony Pulis and his players.
To Anfield, where football was not the most important thing on the agenda for once. Paying
respect to those who sadly lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster, 20 years ago this
Wednesday, was at the forefront of everyone's mind. A minute‘s silence, impeccably observed. What
followed was fitting; a comprehensive feast of flowing football saw Liverpool
sweep Blackburn aside with ease.
The all new rumour reporting article system is in full effect! The Rumour Wenger has been written
up as tempted by Stoke City defender and Premiership veteran Abdoulaye Faye. Some no-nonsense
defending in the Stoke style may add some steel to Arsenal's silk and £5m would seal the deal. The

According to the Star (I know, I know), Arsenal have asked Barcelona about the
availability of 19-year-old striker Bojan Krkic.
Good idea, Arsene what Arsenal really need is another tiny young forward who can be served up as
a starter to the likes of Chris Samba, Nemanja Vidic and Abdoulaye Faye.
