The United States Women's National Soccer Team was honored as Sportswomen of the Year by
the March of Dimes New York Division at its 28th Annual Sports Luncheon on November 30, at the
Waldorf-Astoria in New York.
The final three men shortlist for FIFA Balon D'OR 2011 has been announced. The final list is no
surprise to anyone following serious footballing action - Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Xavi
Hernandez. Actually everyone know who is going to win - Lionel Messi. But still you need a three

When the French Football Association announced its men's and women's Ballon d'Or finalists for
2011, the usual suspects were all accounted for — with one American in the mix.
The La Liga trio of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Cristiano Ronaldo are set to contend for the men's
award, while Marta, Homare Sawa and Abby Wambach will vie for the women's prize.
FIFA's final 3 man shortlist for the coveted World Player of the year award were announced
yesterday and usual suspects Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo made the Cut. Joining the pair is
Messi's Barcelona team mate Xavi.
Messi who has won the award on two previous occasions, is looking to make history by wining the
award for the third consecutive year at the award gala ceremony in Zurich's Kongresshaus on January
9th.
