Today, at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, Bafana Bafana need to take on Thailand and score. Bafana need to put the ball in the net a few times.

Speaking to kickoff, Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune says the energy created by the fans as the World Cup nears is proving a confidence booster for the team and he hopes the support that they provide will be influential in ripping apart Thailand at the new Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

It was Youth Day in South Africa, the stadium in Pretoria was loud with vuvuzelas and the Bafana Bafana players were singing (surprisingly melodiously for a in the tunnel. The Team: South Africa will be the other 31 nation's hospitable host during the upcoming 2010 World Cup. Well, at least we all hope so. Sure, there were fears that this nation would never be ready for the World's biggest tourney, but as of the writing of this post everything seems to be on schedule.

According to The News, Portsmouth midfielder Aaron Mokoena will not be leaving the club this month. Mokoena said,

"In this month's transfer window I've been approached by several clubs, but I'm not going anywhere ... I can't risk my chances by moving where I might not be guaranteed playing regularly immediately.

Tough on Coventry, who led through Leon Best's wonder goal, but were pegged back, first through a Stephen Wright own goal in the final minute of normal time, then when Aaron Mokoena scored the winner with a fine header in the dying seconds of extra time.

Coventry were much the better side in normal time, before Pompey dominated extra time it's a much-needed win for the south coast club, who will find out later today if they will receive £7m in TV money and have their transfer embargo lifted.

South Africa are the hosts of World Cup 2010, and will be in Group A with France, Mexico and Uruguay. Not an easy draw, and the pressure will be on for Bafana Bafana to at least get out of the group stage.

Bafana Bafana Captain Aaron Mokoena will be writing his name in the record books on Monday when he leads his team onto the field against Guatamala for his 100th appearance for the South African National Team.

The International friendly against Guatamala (World Rankk 114) Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Monday night, should give a confident Bafana Bafana (Fifa/coca cola Rank 83) the ideal opportunity to consolidate the midfield and get a bit more impetus upfront.
