Some real news this week on the transfer front, as Gael Clichy has signed on with Manchester

For several summers, Tottenham Hotspurs was often touted by the pundits as a pre-season favorite to
break into the top four in the English Premier League, no matter how poorly the team had fallen off
in the previous season. Well Tottenham finally finished in the top four last season, and are trying
to prove last season's finish was not a fluke.
TBFWHL has seen into the future. Everything that's going to happen in this season has been foretold
and, hold on tight, you're about to find out how it all pans out. Remember to look surprised when
this all actually happens...

Spurs finally get their season under way at Old Trafford and the 2011/12 incarnation of Tottenham
look good.

David Beckham waves to fans and the media (there was more of the latter) as he leaves Tottenham
Hotspur's training ground in Essex. Becks had a medical this morning, and was given the green light
to train – not play – with Spurs over the next four weeks.
So Spurs fans have finally discovered David Beckham's reasons for training with Spurs. We were
all of the opinion that he was teaching Aaron Lennon how to hit the perfect cross, whilst
explaining to David Bentley that looks alone won't win competitive matches.
It would appear though that he was actually on a scouting mission for L.
With the ridiculously priced £3million accepted, Steven Pienaar's signature confirmed and enhanced
Harry Redknapp's reputation as the premier wheeler dealer manager of the Barclays Premier League.
Once again, Harry Redknapp effortlessly adds established stars to his Spurs squad. 'Arry just
cannot resist a deal, can he?
Kenny Dalglish has warned Fabio Capello that he needs to "be responsible" in not relying on Andy
Carroll for England's internationals against Wales and Ghana.
Carroll has only just returned to fitness, and made his first Liverpool start on Thursday after
suffering a thigh injury before he signed for £35 million in January.

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon has taken to Twitter to defend himself against manager Harry
Redknapp's charges of dereliction of duty, claiming that he'd been sick for days and that he was
unwilling to be Harry's scapegoat. Aaron, didn't you get the memo? Crouchie has taken goat duties
by the horns!
Real Madrid set up a mouth-watering Champions League semi-final against Barcelona after
Cristiano Ronaldo's second-half goal completed a comprehensive aggregate defeat of Tottenham
Hotspur.
Ronaldo's speculative 50th-minute effort, fumbled into his own net by Heurelho Gomes, ended any
faint hopes of a Tottenham comeback and confirmed Madrid's progression to a record 22nd semi-final
in the competition.
Despite Manchester United's 1-0 win over Everton that sees them move closer to a 19th league
title (and Sir Alex Ferguson's 12th Premier League title), fans have one eye on potential new
recruits when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
With Paul Scholes and the evergreen Ryan Giggs still having a part to play in the club's future
but not getting any younger and Owen Hargreaves crocked, Fergie will look to add some youthful
exuberance to his midfield, with a number of transfer rumours turning into solid transfer
targets.
Wads of cash sometimes does the trick. Despite Tottenham controlling long portions of the match
with Aaron Lennon and Luka Modric catching the eye and threatening City's defense on more than one
occasion, a Peter Crouch own goal was ... Continue reading →
Liverpool are looking at putting together a bid for Arsenal's Theo Walcott after becoming
increasingly frustrated in their attempts to land a top class winger.
The Reds saw arch-rivals Manchester United beat them to the signature of their number one target,
Ashley Young ,who joined from Aston Villa for £15m.
In a bid to establish dominance, a cockerel performs a waltz of sorts about the hen house yard,
strutting in a semi-circle with its wing down and glaring menacingly at his fellow poultry,
spoiling for a fight. Should this not suffice, the cockerel puffs out his chest, extends his wings,
and runs around the yard as if he were a rampaging bull.
Disheartening Spurs dealt a footballing lesson to Hearts in their Europa League qualifier first-leg
last night. Harry Redknapp's side eased to a 0-5 victory over Hearts with goals from Rafael Van der
Vaart, Jermain Defoe, Jake Livermore, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon. Redknapp was gracious in
pointing out the bigger budget at his disposal.
Gareth Bale. Metrosexual manbag man. And loving it.
We realise that environmental concerns preclude the use of plastic carrier bags for the
transference of grooming product from home to training ground. Indeed, we have fully supported the
rise of the manbag over the past few years, especially the ones emblazoned with cute images of
pretty babies.
Back down to earth with not so much a bump, more like an avalanche. Wile. E. Coyote, maybe,
poised atop some improbably sheer mountain range, on the pinnacle of success, then his cunning plan
fails, inevitably. He doesn't just fall to earth. Rather, it's a slow descent, each painful moment
of impact freeze-framed with a resigned look to the camera.

Tuesday, it looked fairly certain that American sports tycoon Stan Kroenke's takeover bid for
English side Arsenal was likely to succeed, but today's headlines tell a different story.
Alisher Usmanov, who still holds a sizeable chunk of the London-based side's shares at 27
percent, refuses to sell his shares to Kroenke, as he says he "loves" Arsenal — despite the
club's insistence that the remaining shareholders accept the American's offer of £11,750 per
share.
The transfer rumour mill has gone into overdrive and there are some fascinating stories
concerning suggested arrivals and departures at White Hart Lane today, but perhaps the main
interest centres on two players who may leave the club in the summer.
When a short-list of players was drawn up as likely candidates for a move away last month, the
names of Aaron Lennon and Rafael van der Vaart were nowhere to be seen.
Spurs could be willing to cash in on the England winger after a series of...
The one area where Spurs don't look to need any strengthening is in midfield and although there
is potential for a Charlie Adam or Scott Parker to come in as cover, it's hard to see how they
would justify a place above Sandro or Hudd.
The priority for Harry Redknapp this summer will be to hold on to Sandro, Luka Modric and Gareth
Bale as the rumours increase.
Spurs and Villa fans, prepare for shame Tottenham duo Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone, and Aston
Villa's Ashley Young, have flown to Marbella to join the cast of chronically poor reality TV show
The Only Way Is Essex. The Premier League stars are set to take up supporting roles in the somehow
BAFTA-winning series, along [.
I'm glad I don't write about England. You'd smell the apathy the second you clicked the link. I
do, for my sins, still watch them when I can. Sometimes that's as much to see other talents in
action as much as it is England. On Saturday, it was for Xhaka and Shaqiri mainly. They along with
Inler and especially Barnetta lived up to their hype.

Whilst watching England's latest debacle unfold, I kept hearing blunt phrases and outbursts
hurled at the TV such as ‘That Walcott is bloody useless!', ‘what's he doing now?!?', ‘Oh God
not Walcott again' and ‘DO SOMETHING WITH THE BALL YOU MUPPET!!'. Then I realised it was my
voice.

So the excitement continues. No, wait. What's the opposite of excitement? That's it. Boredom.
The boring boredom continues. Monday saw a trending frenzy (get me, trending) on Twitter
regarding an apparent thirty-five million smacker bid from United for Modric. Which, understandably
got many fans of both clubs into somewhat of a social media flap.
The summer transfer window has for Spurs so far been equivalent to a disconcertingly long and
awkwardly silent pause; occasionally, this peace has been punctuated with occasional panics
regarding potential sales of key players, with the most recent being the feted Chelsea move for
Luka Modric.
Tottenham Need Players to Match their Aspirations - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Another week draws to a close at White Hart Lane with Luka Modric still very much a
Spurs player. The Daily Mail may claim that there was a tantrum and showdown talks, but the message
from Daniel Levy is very clear, there will be no sale.
As we start to approach the new 2011/12 soccer season in Europe, most of the news making the
headlines concerns transfer requests, player moves and the like, which creates a ton of real
interest for all soccer fans. Following your club's pursuit of a star player gets the juices
flowing ready for that first League game of the year that we all look forward to so much.

With no fresh injuries reported, it could well be an unchanged league side at Craven Cottage
this weekend as Spurs make the short trip to Fulham.
William Gallas and Steven Pienaar both seem to have come through last night's game in Kazan
unscathed but may have to settle for a slot on the bench.
Squealing like a group of Justin Bieber fans Tottenham were delighted when Aaron Lennon's goal put
them in the driving seat against Fulham yesterday afternoon. So much so that they found the nearest
microphone and made a noise not dissimilar to a bunch of gobbling turkeys getting over-excited at a
Women's Institute meeting.

Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Bolton Wanderers Premier League 3rd December 2011
Harry Redknapp's Lilywhites strolled home to yet another league victory as they consolidated
their place in the top three in the league.
Third meets fourth on Thursday in the English Premier League. The home side, Tottenham, are on a
ridiculously good run where they have garnered 33 points out of the last 39 available. That means
they have moved from a precarious position in the early part of the season, near the bottom of the
table after damaging defeats against Manchester United and Manchester City, to the loftier position
of third.
By Eric Beard, writing from Boston
Sitting hand in hand with the big 3 towards the top of the Premier League table, halfway through
the season Spurs supporters need to take a moment to understand how good they have it. Tottenham's
unstoppable quartet of Aaron Lennon, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, and Rafael van der Vaart is
producing some of the most radiant attacking performances the Premier League has seen in recent
memory.
