The problem: loads of extremely talented midfielders all vying for a limited amount of
positions.
There's not too many ways available to keep all of them happy, let's be frank. During a single
game, at most, there'll be five midfield positions available and just four on some occasions. It's
hard to squeeze so many good players into that formation, especially when there's some that you
simply shouldn't be leaving out.

After netting his second international goal in the space of four days, England's greenhorn
winger Adam Johnson is for all the right reasons attracting considerable
attention, thus helping to drag the nation's spotlight away from his more 'scandal-mired'
cohorts.
The 23-year-old replaced the injured Theo Walcott (who rolled an ankle in the
build up to the opening goal) after ten minutes of England's Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland
had elapsed last night, and duly set about stating his case for a regular starting berth with
aplomb punctuating his endeavour with an opportune second-half strike.
As another Saturday passes, another round of fixtures nears on completion. However, players are
now beginning to feel the effect of having played, potentially, 8 games since the season started a
month ago.
Tottenham are the hardest hit so far, I believe, with Gomes, Dawson and Defoe all definite long
term absentees with Modric on the brink of joining the list that can also accommodate King and
Woodgate.
Take that, Champions League. Cagey away teams? Ten men behind the ball? Sheer gubbins, cried the
merry men of White Hart Lane. We did it the Tottenham way, and while some will probably berate
‘Arry for not adopting a more conservative approach, particularly when two goals ahead, I
revelled almost drunkenly in our insistence upon flying forward at every given opportunity.
Spurs opening match in the Champions League was an intoxicating mixture of breathless brilliance
and the downright infuriating. Just as we became accustomed to the new model Eurospurs, dictating
and dominating to the manor born, as if this were our 51st game in the competition rather than our
first, familiar frailties threatened to expose it [.
The Champions League group stage has kicked off, and unfortunately the Bundesliga's
representatives in the tournament performed quite poorly despite a 2–0 win over Roma for Bayern
Munich. Besides Bayern Munich's win, Schalke lost away to Lyon, and Werder Bremen only picked up a
point at home to Tottenham.
So Arthur turns to me, as he often does around this time, and says, 'So what do think, then?' Good
man he is, likes to chat, asks about the family, loves his Spurs. Been going for as long as I have.
Seen it all before but comes back for more. I paused. It was that [...]
As the article title states, Arsenal smashed Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night at White Hart
Lane. Granted the match was contested in the Carling Cup and both sides fielded, for the most part,
fringe teams full of reserve players and youthful prospects without experience but the result will
still send many into joyful delirium and others into tears in North London.

A derby game with our North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs, always comes with an anticipation
of excitement, raucous cheering and jeering and some really entertaining football. It doesn't
matter if the game is being played in the Premiership, FA Cup or in the Carling Cup. The stakes are
always the same.
Time to take stock. Two defeats in 5 days against London rivals concentrates the mind wonderfully
but the state of play is best judged over a longer period. As time passes, the fixture list
metamorphoses from a series of randomly generated matches into little sequences that within the
context and meaning of an unfolding season [.

Aaron 'azza' Lennon's poor form so far this season has got so bad it's led to Harry Redknapp
speaking about him in an interview before our first home champions league group game tonight. What
effect it'll have if any will be very interesting. Two home games in 3 days is the perfect
opportunity for the little man to try and get his game going again.
Match days are great fun, reading everyone's opinions on team selection and formations. Who will
be fit and who will spend another week on the sidelines? Will Bale play in midfield or defence? Two
up front or the lone striker as preferred in Europe so far? Does Lennon deserve to start with his
current form?
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has called for Aaron Lennon to improve after his lethargic start
to the new season. The England winger was sensational last season as Tottenham broke into the top
four, but his disappointing World Cup campaign has trickled into the new club season. Lennon was
the subject of further controversy this summer after being photographed smoking a cigar, and
Redknapp just hopes Lennon can get over his poor run of form.
