A selection of talent from Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton,
Stoke City, Burnley, Sunderland and Aston Villa who should get more in the way of plaudits.
Yossi Benayoun (Liverpool)
A player who only seems to get his chance when someone is out injured or badly off form.
It was a decision that no doubt changed the outcome of the game. Howard
Webb's decision to award Manchester United a penalty this afternoon was
simply disgraceful.
Anyone, even the most ardent of United fans, who saw the game would have to admit that Tottenham
keeper Heurelho Gomes should never have been penalised for his supposed "foul" on Michael Carrick.

It is practically impossible for Kazakstan to qualify for the 2010 World Cup Finals, whereas
England are sitting quite comfortably at the top of Group Six, 5 points ahead of nearest rivals
Croatia.
Mr Levy is at the Madrid Sales!
The Rumour
Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy has begun talks with Real Madrid over a stunning £36million swoop
for Arjen Robben, Gabriel Heinze and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
The White Hart Lane chairman went to Spain to seal a deal for the trio who, despite their
quality, are surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu following Kaka's arrival and the impending
capture of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Some papers are today linking us with a move for Aaron Lennon this summer, with him playing a
position we need to look at strengthening whether Cristiano Ronaldo moves on or not. I want Nani to
be good but he hasn't been this season and whilst I'm a big fan of Park, who is set to get an
improved £50k a week contract soon, he's not your typical winger.
Last week coach Fabio Capello revealed England's national squad roster for the upcoming
September 6th friendly against Slovenia, followed by the September 9th World Cup Qualifier against
Crotia. There were a few surprises on the roster additions, but what might have been most
surprising was a few of the names left off of the list.
Capello should tap this man for ideas
Capello on how other sports can influence football and how he is going to use them to prepare
the England team for the World Cup.
"It's important to understand the psychology of all these sports and they've helped me to
improve my own style," said Capello.
So, David Beckham flew all the way from Los Angeles to London so he could sit on the bench for
the friendly against Slovakia and play 10 minutes of garbage time once England had a four goal lead
against Croatia. He got a great view of how Shaun Wright Phillips did well against Slovakia and
how Aaron Lennon completely tore up Croatia.
Like the Ferrerro Rocher Ambassador, we at AANP Towers are rather spoiling you today. Not only
are we providing a hastily cobbled-together list of potential Lane departees, but we're also
implementing the flawless, scientifically-proven Who-Would-Buy-Them guide to the standard of team
they would attract, thereby ascertaining whether they're worth keeping.
The likely departure of Cristiano Ronaldo is sure to leave a huge gap in the Manchester United
team, but that gap can always be filled with the £80m in exchange for Ronaldo. Who will the Red
Devils bring in this summer?
Frank Ribery, Bayern Munich: Well, here is a quality winger
that may just be able to fill Ronaldo's boots, but he definitely won't come cheap.
Week 4 of the Barclays Premier League starts with a top of the table clash. The Big 4 Club is about
to be gatecrashed by Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. This should be the weekend where Spurs
and City prove that they can lay legitimate claim to an expansion of the Big 4 to a Super Six.
Winning against Manchester United and Arsenal respectively will really make the football world sit
up and take notice.
Am I alone in being concerned about Gael Clichy who seems to be rushing into tackles like a
youth player and losing his positional awareness? I rate the player very highly and see him as
potential leadership material when Fabregas departs for Barcelona. He links well down the flanks
and gives the team much needed width, but his early performances this season have worried me.
Double the pleasure, double the fun
Let's preview this weekend's matches but also
bear in mind that we have a Fantasy Premier League double gameweek on our hands for two
teams: Aston Villa and West Ham. But don't get too crazy with excitement:
Villa are on the road at Everton while West Ham take on tricky Sunderland before these two clubs
face off against each other.
The 2009 season is over, and it was a disappointing end to the Galaxy's season. Falling on
penalties to Real Salt Lake means that an offseason of rest and recovery awaits for the MLS Cup
runner-up. That's true for all but David Beckham, his second season begins as he will leave his
family behind and join AC Milan in the January transfer window.
Why are they bothering having a Young Player Of The Year vote this season is beyond me as Stephen
Ireland is head and shoulders above every other candidate playing in the Premiership this season.
Ireland has been in magnificent form since the season started and with everything going on at
Manchester City on and off [.
At half time, Manchester United had over three times the amount of shots on target as their
opponents, yet they were 2-0 down. Unlike performances of weeks gone by, we actually had a decent
enough 45 minutes, creating chances and keeping possession well.
However, every time the ball got in to our half, there seemed to be panic.
Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United will go head to head for the signature of
Tottenham Hotspur's Aaron Lennon at the end of the season, according to a report in the British
tabloid The Daily Express.
Apparently, the 22-year-old 11-time capped England international winger could fetch as much as £20
million, provided that Spurs are willing to sell.
Dependable to the end...?

Any players that Rafael Benitez targets this summer may be likelier to join Liverpool as the
Spaniard's own future, together with those of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, have been secured
earlier in the year, according to club legend Kenny Dalglish.
The Reds have been linked with a plethora of Premier League stars, and Benitez has already conceded
that each penny paid toward his summer signings will have to be money well spent.
A nice exhibition performance but will it carry over to the regular season?
Didn't see this coming!
Barcelona director of football Txiki Begiristain has said that the Blaugrana might not
make any further signings this summer, but 27-year-old Liverpool winger Albert Riera is now a
target, according to Sport.
Barca coach Pep Guardiola has said that he wants to make further additions to his squad, but it
appears that Begiristain will make the final call.
The UEFA World Cup Qualifying had another set of matches on Wednesday with one of the marquee
matches, England v Croatia. England were playing at home in front of a packed Wembley Stadium with
a chance to clinch first place in the group and a spot in next summer's FIFA 2010 World Cup. Here's
a recap of the match along with video highlights.
Fabio Capello has named his 24 man roster for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine
and Belarus. There are no real surprises in Capello's squad, but Ben Foster will be ruing the fact
that his chance has come and gone. Meanwhile, David Beckham will be delighted at his inclusion once
again, and Aaron Lennon's fine form is rewarded.
1. Peter Crouch's gangly legs are not supposed to be involved in six-yard tap-ins. They were made
for bicycle kicks. 2. David Beckham has brown hair, a ginger moustache and a black beard. What is
that all about? 3. Twin, dwarf, right-footed wingers is probably not a viable tactical option
against decent opposition.
Mini match report: Unexpectedly terrific performance by Spurs, with Aaron
Lennon and especially Niko Kranjcar who scored twice, either side of a Jermain Defoe strike in
devastating form on the flanks.
City never turned up (Robinho, take a bow), but then Tottenham didn't allow them to.
Patrice Evra just hasn't seemed the same player in 2009. Before then, he was one of our best
performers, but over the past few months there seems to be something missing from his game.
His worst performances of the season have come against Aaron Lennon, with the small winger
getting the best of him in the League Cup final and yesterday's victory over Spurs.
Liverpool winning 3-1 away at the KC stadium. Surely, no-one expected anything less if not
anything more. The reigning champions level again for the umpteenth time, their leaky defence
ensuring that the goal difference keeps them in behind Liverpool in second place. Yes, they did
have two games in hand but chasing points and championships is not the most comfortable proposition
especially when you have key champions league encounters looming on the horizon.
Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to sacrifice Wayne Rooney's central link up play and creativity in
favour of giving more protection to the full backs.

In football we think we have seen it all; tactics go out of fashion and some come back (the
deep-lying playmaker, box-to-box midfielder) so it is rare to see something new emerge.
Lookalikes are ten-a-penny - anyone can make Dirk Kuyt look like Sloth from the Goonies, or
Peter Reid look like a monkey. It takes more to put two people together stylistically and
functionally; players who remind you of one another, players who play like each other - players
that could be clones of one another.
Where the hell did this come from?
The Rumour
Rafa Benitez is planning a move for Jermaine Jenas.
The Spaniard asked about Jenas, 25, in January, when he hoped to take him to Anfield as part of
the deal which saw Robbie Keane return to Spurs.
However, Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp did not want to lose him at that stage of the season.
.Back in January the odds on Burnley beating both Manchester United and Everton by one goal to nil
would have been significantly high. The town of Burnley only is only home to around 73,000
residents (the smallest in the division), they have the smallest wage bill in the Premier League
and their transfer funds are [.
. Birmingham City almost achieved a commendable result at White Hart Lane, but let their
concentration drop slightly when the game was deep into stoppage time, thereby allowing Aaron
Lennon to score and maintain the Lilywhites' 100 per cent record in the Premier League. spurs were
the dominant force in the first half and were unlucky to [.
Fabio Capello announced his squad for the friendly against Slovenian and the World Cup qualifier
against Croatia and found a place in the squad for both Aaron Lennon and Peter Crouch but none for
Michael Owen. Manchester United defender Wes Brown was also recalled, while Liverpool's Steven
Gerrard returns after injury.
Football365.com has their weekly winners and losers column and this is my take on their post
this week.
Winners
Chelsea
Yet another impressive start to the season for Chelsea. With four wins in four games, although the
schedule has been very kind to them with games against Sunderland, Hull, Burnley and Fulham.
"Boys, diving is back on the menu".
That might be the most potent message after seeing England's game against Slovenia. And no, UEFA
is not going to do any retrospective video refereeing because it is lowly Slovenia. Rooney can pull
a player's shirt blatantly, fall down, and pretend he got fouled without retribution.
The season is getting cooler but it's actually getting hotter in the UKFF towers. We've been
received 100's of honies pictures wanting to be our girl of the week.
This weeks little honey and absolutely stunner is 19 year old Tasha from London.

Motty squawks at Aaron Lennon We already noted in our Top 10 conclusions that Motty was getting a
bit camp during yesterday's Chelsea-Spurs game. And this example is no exception. With Aaron Lennon
on the counter attack, Motty adopts his best teenage boy falsetto to proclaim: "He's going all the
waaay.
Fabio Capello is not one to give too much away, his demeanour surly enough for ITV's Clive
Tyldsley to describe the Italian as "old poker face" during last night's dead-rubber win over
Belarus at Wembley. But prior to the game, the England manager had given the story-writers plenty
to work with by suggesting that his squad for next summer's World Cup had "seven or eight" spots
available.
1. Liverpool might rely too heavily on Fernando Torres, but if you have to rely too heavily on
anyone it might as well be him. 2. This season really is so open and unpredictable. Just when you
thought Liverpool and Chelsea were out of form, and Manchester United and Arsenal were safe bets,
it is suddenly [.
