The cost per goal figure for Manchester United's new purchase Dimitar Berbatov is now a real number
after he scored today in the Champions League in ManU's 3-0 win over hapless Aalborg. And not just
once, but twice. The above goal took him from zero to one an opportunistic delivery in [...]
The UEFA Champions League draw was rolled out Thursday, and Uncle Phil should be fairly pleased
with the outcome. Chelsea, the No. 1 overall seed in this year's draw (that's right, bitch), was
drawn into Group A along with Serie A runner-up AS Roma, Frenchies Bordeaux and CL debutants CFR
Cluj (Romania).
Note: When we do our searches for the ever-elusive game highlights, we have to take what we can
get. (And we do it with much gratitude to the people who manage to evade the Video Police and host
them.) But the ones we find are not always perfect. There's a good chance that [...]
Champions League Match Day 6
Old Trafford, Manchester, England
Kickoff @ 2:45 PM EST
What's at Stake:
Essentially, very little. Aalborg (AaB) is already ensured a UEFA Cup spot, and and United has
already secured promotion to the next round.
The final 32 clubs who will partake in this year's Champions League campaign have qualified and are
all set for tomorrow's draw - set somewhere in Europe which is easy for Michele Platini to travel
to (oh it's in Monaco, how nice). And though the qualifying stages are a bit Champions League Lite,
they still [.
Matchday Two: Tuesday, September 30
Kickoff: 20:45 (2:45 PM EST)
Location: Energi Nord Arena, Aalborg, Denmark
United will look to get back to winning form in the Champions League against last year's Danish
Superligaen champs. It also looks to be the 4,308th game that will see Anderson play well, and yet
still fail to score.
So, I guess ManUtd.com can stop writing articles where the theme is "United Captain Gary
Neville will use this as an opportunity to reclaim his spot in the regular starting eleven."
Wayne wrote it yesterday, and it remains true today: Rafael is now, officially, the preferred
choice at right back. What that means for brother Fabio and England International Wes Brown (who is
still apparently on the team) remains to be seen.
Villarreal, Celtic and Aalborg BK are the other teams that make up our Champions League group,
giving us a great away day north of the border again. Villarreal - 2nd seed Giuseppe Rossi and
former Gooner, Pascal Cygan, are members of the Villarreal team we are set to face. Their highest
scorer last season was Turkish forward, Nihat [.
The former Millwall FC and Northampton Town forward is heading home to his native Denmark after two
seasons in England's League One. The 31-year-old Danish player is rumoured to be joining 1st
Division side AB after Northampton Town decided not to resign the popular player. His former club
AaB (Aalborg BK) appears to be in the mix as well.
The draw for the UEFA Cup Second Qualifying Round was conducted this morning, and the two English
clubs involved at this stage in the competition couldn't have come away happier. Both should defeat
their respective Scandinavian opponents and advance to the First Round without too much
difficulty.
After seeing off EB/Streymur in the last round, Manchester City will open this tie at home against
FC Midtjylland.
The European dream is still alive and well for our neighbours on the bitter side of town. After
losing to the Danish side that finished 2nd last season (behind the Aalborg BK who was drawn in our
group yesterday) a couple of weeks ago, and the fans booing Hughes' team off the pitch, they
overcame [..

Celtic's home draw with Manchester United last night dumps them, all but mathematically, out of the
Champions League for another year. They opened with, by Champions League standards, an easy home
tie against Aalborg BK, but a disappointing 0-0 draw was all they managed to achieve in the game
that held their best chance of [.
"Panathinaikos' win is absolutely deserved. People may say they were lucky but I don't agree.
After that performance we don't deserve to go through. We must be angry with ourselves."
Jose Mourinho surprisingly philosophical over Inter Milan's defeat to
Panathinaikos, the first in their European campaign this season.
The Ibrox club are going through one of their intermittently glum periods, having drawn 0-0 in
Glasgow with FBK Kaunas last Wednesday in the second qualifying round, first leg, before being
routed and humiliated by Liverpool at Ibrox on Saturday.
This evening, Rangers face the Lithuanian team again, and the flak will fly in Walter Smith's
direction if he doesn't guide his team to a final qualifier against Aalborg BK later in the month.
