The Newcastle Jets are the only team to beat the Melbourne Victory at home this season. They pulled
off that victory in a round 10 encounter that was dramatic for all the wrong reasons: a send-off, a
penalty not given, and a verbal assault on Joel Griffiths. Melbourne fans came away from that game
feeling hard-done [.
Last time we saw John Kosmina at Telstra Dome, he left us with his charming "dark forces" speech
after his former team was destroyed by the Melbourne Victory in the Grand Final. Tomorrow night, he
returns, this time at the helm of Sydney FC. Whether it's Kosmina's prowess as a coach, or Michael
Bridges prowess as [...]
Melbourne played out a scrappy 1-1 draw against Adelaide United last night. Away from home, this is
not a result to be unhappy with, although we can come away feeling somewhat unlucky to have not
held on for the win. After 80 minutes of scoreless play it was the most unlikely of heroes that
stepped up [...]
The Melbourne Victory is down, but not out. Three points separate them from 3rd and 4th placed
Adelaide United and Newcastle Jets. A stretch of wins can and will propel the Victory into serious
final contention, with a decent shot at a top 2 position. Over the past month, Melbourne could have
won each of its [.
Three weeks ago, under the new coaching of David Mitchell, you would have called the Perth Glory a
resurgent force. Mitchell replaced the out-of-favour Ron Smith and within days the Glory sealed
their first win in a year - a triumphant 4-1 victory away over the Newcastle Jets. But the glory
was short-lived.
There is absolutely nothing separating the Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets as they meet
tonight for their second clash of the season. Both teams are sitting on 14 points (a tantalising 3
behind first placed Central Coast Mariners) and both have won 3, lost 1 and drawn 5. When they met
in Round 5, Melbourne went [...]
When Melbourne signed Steven Pace a couple weeks ago, I'm sure many of you did a Google search for
"Steven Pace". Which would have returned a certain Dr. Steven Pace from the University of Central
Queensland as the top result. Handy, no? In order to give ourselves (and you) a better way to find
A-League related [...]

Prior to the season, we looked at Melbourne's roster of players and one word came to mind: depth.
Ernie Merrick is a man with options this year. And boy doesn't he need them? Five of our players
are injured. Two others have been called up for international duty. The team we'll see lining up
against Adelaide United [...]
Apparently Lynch was missing, so the two Victory stars decided to interview each other. Topics
include the Phoenix match, the upcoming match against Perth, Muscat's send-off and the Socceroos
World Cup qualification draw. Check it out. Share This
It could have been three points. It should have been. But a late surge from the Wellington Phoenix
turned a two-goal advantage into a tight draw where the Victory struggled to defend against an
onslaught of Phoenix attack. It was a disappointing result, but Melbourne's performance was far
from disappointing. The three pronged attack of Hernandez, Allsopp [.

The Melbourne Victory takes on Sydney FC tonight in what will be an intriguing and important match
between the A-League's two Grand Final winners. Meanwhile, the current season's top runners, the
Newcastle Jets and the Central Coast Mariners, will battle it out on Sunday in Newcastle. Whatever
the result there, a win in Sydney will push [...]

Melbourne's season finally started to look up last night, after a strong performance against Perth
Glory. After last week's abysmal display against Adelaide and the off-field drama's that followed,
it couldn't have come at a better time. It was all about the first half for Melbourne. And the man
that really shone was Carlos Hernandez. Finally, [...]
A disappointing night, no doubt about that. Melbourne got off to a cracking start, with some
dangerous attacking play that looked to really be setting us up for a good night. Unfortunately, it
just didn't last. Newcastle's first goal from the free kick was made possible after Adam Griffiths
pushed Allsopp to the ground to [...]

The Melbourne Victory may have little to play for in terms of this season - other than finishing
dead last -, but the Queensland Roar's win over the Perth Glory ensures that, for the Central Coast
Mariners at least, this is a critical game. The Mariners and Roar are completely level: 30 points
each, 24 goals [.
And here's my tips: 1. Melbourne Victory 2. Queensland Roar 3. Central Coast Mariners 4. Adelaide
United 5. Wellington Phoenix 6. Sydney FC 7. Newcastle Jets 8. Perth Glory Perhaps I'm biased. But
poor pre-season form aside, I firmly believe the Melbourne Victory can top the league again. Much
has been made of Fred's departure and Hernandez' ability to slot into his role, but [.
The A-League kicks off tonight (thank heavens, it's back!!) and, as is usual when anticipating such
an event, it is time to make some educated guesses about the outcomes. Well ok, maybe not educated,
but definitely guesses. I don't picture Melbourne enjoying the walk-in-the-park season that we did
last year. But that's not stopping me tipping [...]
The Melbourne Victory's form at the Telstra Dome may not have been its best (the Victory had a
better record away than at home last season), but this hasn't done anything to dampen the spirits
of what is bound to be a record-breaking 20,000 members. Perth may not be the most glorious (pardon
the pun) [...]
I have two very simple requests of the Melbourne Victory tonight: 1. Get a goal. Your home fans
need to see that net ruffle. 2. Win. Is it too much to ask for something other than a draw? (And
don't even think about losing!) I'm not asking much, am I? Just a little action and a chance to
[...]

The Perth Glory will line up against the Melbourne Victory at the Telstra Dome tomorrow night, in a
rematch of the Round 2 clash that ended in a rather drab 0 - 0 draw. The Glory are yet to win a
match this year, but they are coming off what was arguably their best match of [...]
Turns out I was wrong about David Mitchell replacing Branko Culina as Sydney FC's coach. John
Kosmina was today unveiled as the new man for the job. Ah, we just can't get away from Kosmina, can
we? Unfortunately for Sydney and Kosmina, the FFA has insisted that the former Adelaide United
coach serve out his five-game touchline [...]
With the 3 other matches in round 11 now complete, what's at stake for Melbourne is even clearer.
Both Adelaide and Newcastle failed to win their matches, leaving Melbourne with an ideal chance to
get back into the top 4 and on even points with the leaders. The Mariners for their part have a
[...]

We're well and truly into the tail end of the season, with just nine rounds of the regular season
remaining. The Melbourne Victory sits perched on 6th spot, while their opponent, the Queensland
Roar, enjoy a flattering position in 2nd place. But such is the tightness of the league that a win
for Melbourne could [...]
"We simply were not at the races" Victory's stand-in captain Grant Brebner said. Sad, but true.
Another disappointing match and one that comes at time when many fans will start to feel the season
is fast moving beyond reach. The loss to Central Coast could be disregarded as an unfortunate
series of events. Last week's match [...]

With both Adelaide United and the Newcastle Jets winning all three points on Friday night, the
Melbourne Victory's Sunday-arvo match against the Perth Glory became all the more critical. A win
would keep the Victory within a game of reaching the top 4; anything less would see them recede
further away from finals football.
Another "must win" match, ending in another seemingly inevitable draw. Although, after being behind
most of the match, the draw ended up seeming like another lucky escape. How many draws have we had
like that this season? If only a few of those could have been wins, we'd be in a much better
situation.

Despite being diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture, a break he apparently suffered in the match
against Wellington, Muscat is still hopeful of playing against Adelaide this weekend. What measures
he would have to take to guard his arm remain to be seen, but he certainly doesn't seem willing to
write himself off as a [...]
The Melbourne Victory takes on the Newcastle Jets tonight. Before the season began, I tipped the
Newcastle Jets for a low finish this year. We're four weeks in and the Jets are in 2nd place, with
two wins and two draws to their name. But I'm still not convinced that Newcastle have what it takes
to [...]
