I know we are all ready to kick off Gold Cup, but after reading Sam Alipour's infuriating ESPN
Magazine story on the "case" against former UC-Santa Barbara ace Eric Frimpong, I was immediately
compelled to share it.I'd meant to read it yesterday, but forgot and now am ruing the lost exposure
for his story due to the routine occurrence of lower weekend traffic.
If money is now soccer's God, then why are these Champions League quarterfinal matches not run as a
TV doubleheader? Hmmm...#1 - Conor Casey, a large, bald target-esque striker that can be spotted
easily above, was named MLS PotW. I mean, he's right there. You can't miss him.#2 - I love it when
the Red Card's Luis Arroyave travels.
I stumbled across this foundation, Soccer Without Borders, because my pal and fellow Ajacied Jim is
involved with the Bay Area branch.I went to check out their website and decided it was something I
should shine a light on best I could... hence the new logo link on the right. If you ever wish to
find a way to contribute, but don't know how, just click the soccer bird.
It's a busy day, and I'd rather be off getting Distracter-fied (or let's face it, eating a pizza...
or both), so let's get to it...#1 - President Obama has written a letter firmly backing U.S.
efforts to land a World Cup in either 2018 or 2022 that was hand delivered to FIFA chief Sepp
Blatter. Wicked.
Is it just me or do Everton's Marouane Fellaini and Jô look like extras from the cast of Welcome
Back, Kotter?#1 - My Frankie Hejduk feature is now up. It was a pleasure to talk to The Dude.#2 -
I've been asked if I look at any of the other MLS power rankings around before I roll with mine.
The answer is no - before or after.
It'll be May 30th at Toyota Park, you can register here. The first 100 that sign up to be tested
for a match get to attend a Fire practice/autograph session (though it's possible that total has
been reached, I have no way of knowing). - Greg Seltzer
It has been a mighty battle with the computer demons and I have emerged victorious to live another
day...#1 - I have a sickness: I must link to any Jimmy Conrad interview... especially when he pimps
the upcoming Arrested Development movie.By the way, if they can't get the original actor for some
reason, I think Jimmy would make for a fantastic Franklin Delano Bluth.
#1 - After seeing two points grifted by Michael Dawson's late cracker, Aston Villa keeper Brad
Friedel told reporters that Brad Guzan's declaration of pushing the elder was no joke. He is
pushing the starter, and the starter was terrific this week.Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspurvon
curymunchie#2 - I think it is safe to say that we can expect to see AGF attacker Jeremiah White in
a new shirt after
I've been trying to find a good quality clip of Charlie Davies' ESPN Sunday interview, but no dice.
However, a Du Nord reader hooked up a makeshift webcam version to fill the online void. We also
have a brief interview with AGF attacker Jeremiah White about his future with the club.Today, I
have so much stuff, I'm needing to be picky and make cuts.
Good cause. Bad model.- Greg Seltzer
Sorry it's taken me so long to get to this, I meant to do it while you were all sleeping in the
States. You'll be happy to know, however, that I have been busy on the horn collecting lots of
little goodies for you - which you will start enjoying once the stupid S365 publisher decides to
resume working.
I've lifted the F-bomb ban on Cut of the Day because it's Friday and I wanna...#1 - In the
aftermath of last night's Real Salt Lake upset of the champs, James Edward pops the surprise cork
and Shawn Mitchell does the Crew autopsy.#2 - After another loss to Benfica at home last night,
Everton keeper Tim Howard knows his side is in a real scrap for the Europa League knockouts.
After finishing with my World Team of the Year, I taste-tested a couple of star-studded benefit
matches for you.Friends of Ronaldinho (for needy children in Brazil)Champions for Africa (for
UNICEF and to fight African poverty)- Greg Seltzer
