So how has Jozy Altidore done in his transfer to the Hull City Tigers? Well,
lets just say the kids got game.
Here was Jozy's first professional EPL assist, a crucial game changer that helped Hull City net
their first win of the campaign (watch from 3:25 on):
Hull City v Bolton Wanderersby donchesko10
The kid has a nose for goal.
The two times Curt Onalfo and Richie Williams were together in a playing
capacity, they managed to take home the 1989 NCAA College Soccer National Championship at the
University of Virginia and ten years later, the 1999 MLS Cup with DC United. They know each other,
and have been proven winners stateside in the past.
Feel my pain, and witness Dave Van den Bergh, wearing similar colors to the Red
Bulls training outfit, but somehow, representing a different team. This seems wrong.
*Thanks to the folks over at FC Dallas TV for the link. Much appreciated.
All Stars for Hope is a charity organization that features some of World Footballs most
recognizable athletes, led by Mikael Silvestre of Arsenal. In an attempt to raise
money for schools around the world, Silvestre has enlisted Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney,
Didier Drogba, Thierry Henry and a host of other luminaries to take on the Red Bulls
June 14th 2009 at Giants Stadium
in a friendly exhibition.
After 120 minutes of play, a few things are expected on the pitch from players competing at a
high level; fatigue, sweat, determination and things of that nature. But watching the a bouncing
ball amongst thye walking wounded out there (and I am not just speaking of David
Beckham), I have one message to the rest of the league:
Now you know the hell that is artificial turf.
Good Morning,
Does anyone else feel like this is the absolutely worst and most boring transfer season, post
Becks era? Wow. Talk about a snoozer. Anyone who thought that the signing of Golden Balls would
mean an influx of better, older talent (the Figo's and Zidane's of the world),
sorry.
Apparently, Danny Cepero is Tiger Beat material!
From the pages of CosmoGirl.com (and please, don't ask me how I found this), Danny Cepero has
been named one of the top MLS Hotties today!
Ew. Excuse me folks. Had a little bit of puke in my throat.
But don't mind that!
Sharks in the water, RBNY.
DC United have just announced the formal resignation of head coach Tom Soehn
from the organization. Soehn accumulated a respectable 36-30-24 MLS record, with a total of
55-48-31 in all competitions. So what cost him? Disappointing results in the face of high
expectations.
So, is this just a little something to generate a vibe around the club, or are the Red Bulls
serious here?
Reports from Spain and stateside claim that the Red Bulls have thrown their name into the ring
of fire that is the Rafa Marquez negotiations. For weeks, Marquez and Barcelona
have been unable to secure a contract, though word has it they will be signed away by Monday.
Are we at all sure that Youri hasn't been hired by Red Bull already?
The French legend has been planting seeds in France, playing Red Bull ambassador in the hopes of
attracting his countrymen stateside through interviews like the one he had with football-ravageur,
a French footy outlet.
He has some great insights on the successes and short comings of David Beckham, the measure of
MLS against other leagues and the possibility of including more French players to the league
structure.
Do you remember the game last year where Juan Pablo Angel and Danleigh Borman
scored their first goals of the season? Well, it was against Los Angeles in the city of Angels, and
it resulted in a 2-1 win over the Galaxy.
That was the teams very last win on the road.
Here is a look back at the 20 games that have cemented their way into the MLS record books:
DYNAMO 1 - RED BULLS 0 - 5/31/08
This was the tame loss the Bulls endured at the hands of Houston last season, before they took
it to the orange the rest of the way.
Thanks to the boys and girls at Metrofanatic for pointing this in my direction.
Shep Messing joined the fledgling podcast Four in the Back to share his
thoughts on the Red Bulls. And boy, did he ever.
Here are some of his more memorable quotes:
- "This is like trying to turn around the titanic.
Today, local media are gathering at the Red Bulls main offices to finally meet the long linked
general manager of the club, the diminutive but savvy Mr. Erik Soler. Where will I
be? Most likely reporting from my desk . . . damn, I need to get my name on that VIP list!
Anyhow, this weekend has produced a plethora of stories, rumors and speculation which I would
love to dive right into.
Never would I have possibly fathomed the idea of my favorite American team playing my favorite
Argentine team in a setting other than FIFA 09.
But here we are.
The Red Bulls take on Boca Juniors reserve squad (which is the same system, mind you, that has
nourished such stars as Riquelme, Burdisso, Gago, Datolo and many more to stardom
and world domination!
I had a few e-mails on the topic of "The Rumor." For those living in a cave, Metrofanatic has
posted up a rumor, where one of their most infallible sources is claiming Red Bull has the team on
the market. The rumor specifically charges Red Bull with wanting to sell the team but keep the
property at Red Bull Arena, and charge the prospective owner for its usage.
Here is something that will help the Red Bull Nation pass the time as they await their next
meaningful fixture against Trinidads W Connection; Jozy Altidore is still a hot commodity overseas.
People have not forgotten about his performance in the Confederations Cup, and his services are
being sought after in the Premiership.
Indulge with me, if you will, in the new, optimistic, feel good Red Bulls story, as I take you
through what needs to be happen for the team to make the playoffs.
Yes Jim. The playoffs.
If the Red Bulls win every game from now till the end of the season, the best they will be able
to pull off is a solid 34 points for the season.
Here is a little tidbit that just made its way to my desk: Luke Sassano, Nick Zimmerman
and Jeremy Hall are all taking in the sights and sounds of Austria, as the trio begin a
2-3 week training stint with the Salzburg Motherland Crew.
Hopefully, they don't get the Dane Richards treatment.
You know, with the walk through of Red Bull Arena and the signings this week (let alone the
piles of papers growing on my desk), I have definitely missed some big stuff the past few days.
Here are some news tidbits that may have been lost in the cracks.
- We will lead off with the man whom the rest of the world feels invented MLS; David
Beckham.
Before we get into the status of Alfredo Pacheco and Albert Celades, I have to
highlight this spectacular video. Pacheco has been an intergral part, not only in Salvadorean
football, but for his club FAS in their domestic league; so much so that they gave him a going away
party!
Today is a big international match day
for CONCACAF, featuring some big clashes like USA v. TnT (Go Jozy!), Mexico v.
Honduras and a Red Bull relevant clash, Costa Rica v. El Salvador. How is that relevant?
Carlos Johnson may make an appearance against Alfredo Pacheco and
his side.
Coach Osorio's emphasis on creating depth in the Red Bulls lineup earned some credibility points
for the Bulls tonight, as they took their US Open Cup aspirations to new levels, beating the
Earthquakes 2-1 behind the efforts of mainly a B squad. Dog house resident Mike
Petke was let off his chain tonight, and he took his opportunity in a big way, scoring the
Red Bulls first goal two minutes into the match.
Big Mac Kandji, aka Mac 10, is starting to hit his stride. Acquired late in the
2008 season, the Bulls forward has had lofty expectations thrust upon his shoulders. This season,
the stand out prospect has already drawn hefty praise from his teammates, and now, the league has
shown some love too.
Red Bull Arena. The mere thought of what will be has fans going to the bathroom to change their
underwear. It is that good.
So what better way to kick off a the new digs than playing our dreaded rivals in what should be
the hottest ticket in town? That is right! Batton down the hatches, hide the wives and kids folks,
because here come THE RAPIDS!
Updated salaries have been posted, reflecting teams pay as of September 15, 2009. In the
clandestine world of MLS, a look at the finances are a rare peak into the inner workings of the
individual teams, and the league as a whole. When they give you the info, be thankful!
Definitely a few pleasant surprises here this time around, especially when you consider the fact
that the list no longer includes albatross salaries of Juan Pietravallo and Khano
Smith.
Before I attempt writing this post, I am going to have to break out my keys and dip into my
military arsenal to prepare for the ensuing onslaught . . . .
- Life Vest? Check. Hey, you may want to drown me.
- Bullet proof vest? Check. Because bullets are everywhere in Jersey and New York.
Well, Red Bull definitely felt the way I felt about the lack of anything talent worthy over in
LaLa Land, as they decided not to pick up any of their players and, instead, they will take a crap
shoot in the draft with a conditional Los Angeles second round pick, so reports SBI.
Here is me being candid: Mike Magee was always one of my favorite players.
The Red Bulls have been one of the teams most speculated of making moves not named Toronto FC.
So instead of having to write 982672398763275237 posts, I will instead keep updates of todays
happenings, linking everyone to the news of interest.
Feel free to comment on all the latest happenings, and dealings.
Steve Goff recently reported Red Bulls keeper Caleb Patterson-Sewell was
training with Aarhus of Denmark. Since then, speculation has run rampant as to
whether or not this was simply training or a trial with the Danish club.
We recently spoke to Caleb to put any speculation to rest:
DAVE: You are currently training at the Danish Club Aarhus.
John Wolyniec will once again be patrolling abouts the forward line for the Red
Bulls this season, signing with the team today. Terms of the signing are, as always, undisclosed.
The Staten Island native has become somewhat of a fan favorite the past few years, so this will be
music to the ears of Woly lovers everywhere!
Meet The Onodas!
This was a College project done by one of our own readers, Daniel Onoda. Great stuff, Danny.
Enjoy folks!
PS: Mr. Onoda is CLEARLY my favorite member of THIS tribe!

In a sea of destitution, in a world that is collapsing before our eyes, who will save the Red
Bulls from certain disaster?!
Sound the horns gentlemen! The Reinforcements are arriving!
Carlos Johnson was the first to show his face, in a brief appearance this past
weekend.
For months, the speculation has run rampant; will Cepero have to concede his
starting position to Conway when he returns from suspension? Or has Cepero done
enough to earn the starters role? All of that may be moot.
There have been no further reports about Danny Cepero's brutal concussion other
than the fact he suffered one.
Reporters yesterday were able to "ask the question of the week," getting a few words in with Don
Garber about the rumors of a potential sale of the team by Red Bull.
From Big Apple Soccer:
"This isn't even a story," Garber said. "It's not for sale. It's one of those things that comes
out; some guy in his pajamas sitting in his kitchen and says 'What kind of story can I write before
they have a big announcement?
What do Thierry Henry, Javier Zanetti, Ryan Babel, Jason Kidd and Grant Hill
have in common?
They will all be playing at a park near you.

I'll be covering the event from inside the cage, so give me a holler if you see me (I'll have my
derby hat on).
Hey all. Bear with me. I have been going through a day in hell called "moving." My fingers are
cut all over the place from installing air conditioners, door frames, fish tanks . . . you name it,
I cut my fingers on it. All this for a new home that is only 10 blocks from my current one.
Ugh.
Anyhow.
One of the best parts about being a season ticket holder are the international games included in
your package. And boy, has this area been spoiled to some great clashes in the past, including
games against Bayern Munich and Barcelona. All inclusive baby!
This year features many great teams traveling the states, including Real Madrid facing DC
United, Barcelona traveling the country, and AC Milan tapped to take on the Galaxy in a bout of
highly ironic proportions.
