Let's hope that jubilation is seen more at the Grove
Arsene Wenger promised us that this is going to be a busy summer. Judging by the high amount of
transfer related news that has Arsenal in its content, the manager's promise might be coming true.
But from the outside, we have to be slightly cautious with regards to those news.
What makes a great defender for your fantasy soccer team? He of course has to play in a winning
team. He of course has to play often and whole games. If he scores a goal or gives an assist now
and then that is a big plus. Of course we wouldnt mind if his price wouldnt be too much either.
So who are these denfenders.
Arsenal fans are gearing themselves for an influx of players, we are waiting with baited
breath. We are also aware that the exodus from the Emirates will be a big one this summer.
Players who have not made the grade, others who have not had the opportunity and some who think
the grass is greener on the other side of the tracks.
So exactly what should Arsenal look like at the start of 2011/2012 season? by Abdul First of all
selling Chamakh (£13m) Squillaci (£5m) Denilson (£8m), Bendtner (£10M), Eboue (£8m) and
Almunia (£5m) would see the team generate roughly £50m. The board, in particular new owner Stan
Kroenke I would hope, should give Wenger another £30m [.
If rumour and speculation are to be believed it seems that Liverpool have an eye on Florent Malouda
and could make a move to try and tempt him away from Chelsea in the summer.
It's no secret that Liverpool wanted Malouda back in the summer of 2007 but he chose to sign for
Chelsea but it's believed that the club are still interested in him and would be looking to sign
the player for a reported £8m.
There is a very short report in the Daily Mail today that Sunderland are interested in £12M rated
French striker Kevin Gameiro. Kevin Gameiro French striker in big demand Newcastle have already had
a reported £8M bid refused by his French club Lorient, and London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham are
also now said to [.
Short of the Premier League changing its mind and awarding Arsenal the league title for plucky
against-all-likelihood endeavour, the one thing that would have kicked the summer off in a
marvellous and positive fashion would have been some early incomings.
Wishful thinking, it seems, seeing that a) in signing terms it's early doors (whatever early
doors are) and b) the futures of two very important players are obfuscated if, indeed, obfuscated
is the word I'm looking for.
According to caught offside today, Liverpool are preparing a bid of around £8m for Florent Malouda
and believe that with just a year remaining on his contract, Chelsea could be willing to cash in on
the Frenchman. This is not the first time they have been linked with a move for him either!. Only
the other week I posted that Malouda wasn't happy with the deal Chelsea have offered him to stay
on.
This Wednesday, Neymar and his Santos team mates will take on Penarol in the Copa Libertadores
final second leg with a chance to win the competition for the first time in 50 years.
After the tournament has finished, the Santos President has said that clubs will be free to talk to
Neymar about a move but would hope that he stays at the club to continue to make history.
Since sacking Claudio Ranieri in June 2004 to appointing Andre Villas-Boas in June 2011, Roman
Abramovich has spent over £69m in various compensation pay-outs to managers and clubs (including
the hiring of director of football Frank Arnesen). That £69m does not include wages paid to
managers since 2004.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Swansea are ready to sign Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge for
£1.8M. Wayne Routledge Newcastle accept £1.8M bid for winger Swansea have been interested in the
winger for over a week, but we had thought that Leicester City may have been in the driving seat to
get the former [.
Liverpool must act quickly if they wish to stay in the race to sign St Etienne midfielder Blaise
Matuidi after Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint Germain lodged a £9m offer.
The Anfield club has been strongly linked with a move for the France international with talkSPORT
claiming they were prepared to pay around £8m to take him to the Premier League.
Well, no-one can say that he's not ambitious. Steve Bruce's summer in the transfer market has
been one of the most interesting of all Premier League clubs, with a clutch of signings which hint
at a manager that is no longer satisfied with perpetual Premier League survival and mid-table
security, and would like to push on towards something a little more substantial.
Tom Werner says Liverpool will keep investing but backs finance rules
• Liverpool chairman wants to restore 'lustre' to club • Tom Werner says financial fair play
essential for 'competitiveness' Tom Werner, the Liverpool chairman, has said Fenway Sports Group
will continue to invest in restoring "the lustre" of the club but insisted Uefa's financial fair
play rules must be enforced to enhance the competitiveness of the Premier League.
Harry Redknapp told us over the weekend not to expect any transfer activity at the Lane this
winter but that was never going to stop the rumour mills from continuing to turn.
However, it may be as a result of the exit rumours concerning Vedran Corluka that Portuguese
right back Joao Pereira has now been linked with a January move to the club.
He's off to terrorise turntables
from Munich to Berlin.
After the summer entertainment that was Ryan Babel hopping in a helicopter and buzzing off to
all four corners of the British Isles in an attempt to find a new home only for nothing to happen,
a transfer deal for the enigmatic attacker has finally been done, as he'll be heading off to the
Bundesliga to join TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
Dwight Yorke has reflecting upon becoming Manchester United's record signing when he joined from
Aston Villa for £12.8m in August 1998.
"You go from being pretty well-known to being public property," he said. "The
expectation level rose from the change in clubs rather than the fee itself.
Liverpool have agreed a £22.8m deal with Ajax for striker Luis "The Cannibal "
Suarez subject to a Medical.
Here is the latest Fernando Torres transfer news as the striker prepares for a possible shock
switch from Merseyside to Stamford Bridge in the 2011 winter transfer window. There is a lot
awaited on the Torres transfer news front as the window closes on January 31, 2011 ( Monday) at

Fernando Torres vs Andy Carroll; Didier Drogba vs Luis Suarez
Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel combined fetched the Reds £56m in transfer fees which left them
almost breaking even with their purchase of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll at £22.8m and £35m,
respectively. The Reds would have loved to have Charlie Adams but Blackpool's bid of £14m was a
bit too high.
In the aftermath of a very busy transfer dash yesterday and the British Record signing of
Fernando Torres from Liverpool to Chelsea, we look at the Top 5 most
expensive flops of the EPL, proving to us all that sometimes money can't buy you quality
in the transfer market.

Such is the vacuum in good news about Arsenal at the moment that our site which is graced by a
plethora of great writers (and many not shy of giving their opinion) cannot generate a post for
today ..... accept this modest offering.
Everything is currently just speculation in the transfer market, but the pattern of hierarchy in
the movement in players is much as most of us would have suspected.
It is being reported that the £10m price that Arsenal expected to pay for the Blackburn defender
Christopher Samba has now gone up to £12m. It seems that Rovers have discovered a clause in their
contract when they bought Samba from Hertha Berlin which means that 15% of the new transfer fee
(1.8m) will go [.
Liverpool will attempt to lure Tottenham playmaker Niko Kranjcar as the Merseyside club looks to
turn their attention away from Blackpool star Charlie Adam to the Croatian international.
Anfield director of football Damien Comolli has earmarked a move for the 26 year old who looks set
to leave White Hart Lane after failing to convince boss Harry Redknapp that he is worthy of a
regular starting spot.
Liverpool, it seems, is living up to some of its great expectations lately. News has just got
out that their pain-staking long, six months of pursuing Blackpool's Charlie Adam is finally over
now that a deal worth £7-8m is confirmed.
By the looks of it, Liverpool seems to be climbing up the ladder much faster than it can
actually acknowledge how steps it is taking.
Charlie Adams finally made the move from Blackpool to Liverpool for £8m and he
just can't wait to get started with his new club.

Liverpool Deny Dann Reports
Liverpool have denied their reported interest in Scott Dann, insisting they are not going up
against Arsenal for the player's signature. This news will likely intensify rumours linking the
Reds with a move for Bolton's Gary Cahill as they look to sure up a defence that leaked goals in
the club's pre-season campaign.
There are a few stories surfacing concerning West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie this
morning and while we briefly touched on the striker in the early part of the summer, the general
consensus was to stay well away.
Overall, there are two ways of looking at the player – at present he is 30 and will cost, if
you believe the rumours, a fee in the region of £8m.
Manchester United has boosted its revenues during the three months to September by 16.6% to
£73.8m.
According to a report in Voetbal International, Ajax are far from happy with Liverpool's attempts
to lure Luis Suarez away and are ready to file a complaint to Fifa against the Reds for illegally
approaching the player.
Liverpool supposedly contacted Suarez's agent Pere Guardiola in the first week of January, but
didn't inform Ajax about their interest until January 14.
