The Blues might be sitting pretty in position 6 in the football money league rich list but the
truth of the matter is that their financial situation is not too good. With a massive debt in
excess of over £1 billion, Chelsea could soon find itself in a very messy situation.
It is also now emerging that Chelsea paid £28 million to sign Andre Villas-Boas from Porto last
summer.
In a decision that was undoubtably cheered at the FA's headquarters, a jury today cleared Spurs
manager Harry Redknapp and former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric of tax evasion.
Speaking on the steps of Southwark Crown Court, Redknapp said the case "should never have come
to court".
When questions about your football club are raised in Westminster and the Prime Minister agrees
that the situation needs investigation then you know you are in a bad way. Not because you might be
investigated but because the Prime Minister actually knows what Penny Mordaunt, MP for Portsmouth
North, is talking about.
Not entirely sure about the source material, but Chelsea have allegedly re-engaged in talks with
Racing Genk over the transfer of the 20-year-old that looks not a day over 12 Kevin De Bruyne.

As you may recall, the club inquired about De Bruyne in the summer.
The frustrating Tottenham career of Giovani do Santos could finally be coming to an end in this
transfer window with reports of interest from Spain and from Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle. Gio
hinted at his potential again this month, albeit against Cheltenham, and after the game manager
Harry Redknapp hailed his talent while giving an insight into why the player has barely featured at
the Lane.
Neil Warnock's sacking at QPR could have some implications for Spurs' winter transfer plans if
the new Loftus Road manager is given a transfer kitty worth up to £20m. Last week, Rangers are
reported to have offered £5m for Christopher Samba while Warnock was still at the club and it's
thought that the Congolese centre half remains a priority.
Fulham Football Club today announced a record profit of £5.4m and a record net profit of £4.8m
for the year ended 30 June 2011. The Cottagers have also revealed a record revenue of £77.1m for
the last season.

Harry Redknapp told us over the weekend not to expect any transfer activity at the Lane this
winter but that was never going to stop the rumour mills from continuing to turn.
However, it may be as a result of the exit rumours concerning Vedran Corluka that Portuguese
right back Joao Pereira has now been linked with a January move to the club.
With such a settled side and the emergence of players such as Kyle Walker and Younes Kaboul, it
seems increasingly unlikely that there will be too much transfer activity at White Hart Lane this
January.
Predictably however, that hasn't stopped the rumour mills and there are a couple of interesting
names being touted around today.
Manchester United has boosted its revenues during the three months to September by 16.6% to
£73.8m.

Racing Santander's administrators have announced that the club has a total debt of almost
€48m, a figure over €10m in excess of the one presented when the Cantabrians applied to enter
bankruptcy in July.
The difference was explained by the fact that investment company Western Gulf Advisory (WGA),
owned by Indian businessman Ahsan Ali Syed who purchased the club in January, 2011, is shown
amongst the list of creditors as being owed €8.

The Best and Worst deals of the Transfer Window - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
As the summer transfer window has now finally closed and viewing figures of Sky Sports News go
back to normal levels, I think it's time to look back at the best and worst of the deals done
involving English Premier League sides.
It would not be a transfer deadline without a surprise Liverpool and Chelsea deal. In January it
was Torres going to Chelsea and this transfer window is was the sale of Raul Meireles to Chelsea
for around £12m, who has signed at four-year deal with Chelsea.
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas worked briefly with the Portugal international at Porto before
Meireles moved to Anfield last August.

There are a few stories surfacing concerning West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie this
morning and while we briefly touched on the striker in the early part of the summer, the general
consensus was to stay well away.
Overall, there are two ways of looking at the player – at present he is 30 and will cost, if
you believe the rumours, a fee in the region of £8m.
Liverpool Deny Dann Reports
Liverpool have denied their reported interest in Scott Dann, insisting they are not going up
against Arsenal for the player's signature. This news will likely intensify rumours linking the
Reds with a move for Bolton's Gary Cahill as they look to sure up a defence that leaked goals in
the club's pre-season campaign.
Tom Werner says Liverpool will keep investing but backs finance rules
• Liverpool chairman wants to restore 'lustre' to club • Tom Werner says financial fair play
essential for 'competitiveness' Tom Werner, the Liverpool chairman, has said Fenway Sports Group
will continue to invest in restoring "the lustre" of the club but insisted Uefa's financial fair
play rules must be enforced to enhance the competitiveness of the Premier League.
What makes a great defender for your fantasy soccer team? He of course has to play in a winning
team. He of course has to play often and whole games. If he scores a goal or gives an assist now
and then that is a big plus. Of course we wouldnt mind if his price wouldnt be too much either.
So who are these denfenders.
Well, no-one can say that he's not ambitious. Steve Bruce's summer in the transfer market has
been one of the most interesting of all Premier League clubs, with a clutch of signings which hint
at a manager that is no longer satisfied with perpetual Premier League survival and mid-table
security, and would like to push on towards something a little more substantial.
As the news came through yesterday that Giovanni dos Santos' sell-on clause was about to expire,
it seemed completely plausible that his miserable stint at Spurs was due to come to a close.
The deal that brought Gio to the Spurs included a clause that entitled Barcelona to a 10% rake
off of any future transfer fee, but with that reportedly set to run out, Spurs are free to pocket
all of the cash.

So Arsenal have been snubbed by Phil Jagielka apparently because of our 'fading appeal'.
I'm sorry, but I haven't seen anything as funny as this since I saw those newly weds dancing to 'I
like big butts' on Youtube.
Seriously, I'm not being arrogant here, do you honestly see Phil Jagielka turning down a move to
Arsenal if the chance arose?
Charlie Adams finally made the move from Blackpool to Liverpool for £8m and he
just can't wait to get started with his new club.

Liverpool, it seems, is living up to some of its great expectations lately. News has just got
out that their pain-staking long, six months of pursuing Blackpool's Charlie Adam is finally over
now that a deal worth £7-8m is confirmed.
By the looks of it, Liverpool seems to be climbing up the ladder much faster than it can
actually acknowledge how steps it is taking.
A fee of £8m for French under 17 international M'Baye Niang may have seemed like a lot of money
so have Spurs taken that into account and really secured the services of a cheaper striker from
South America?

Sunderland have cooled their interest in Liverpool's David Ngog after completing the signing of
Connor Wickham, according to the Sunderland Echo.

originally considered part of the deal that took Jordan Henderson to Anfield.
Charlie Adam has told Blackpool that Liverpool is the club he wants to join and another Scotland
international could hold the key to the deal.
Seasiders skipper Adam has held talks with chairman Karl Oyston this week and The Gazette
understands the 25-year-old expressed the wish to move to Anfield.
Reported Liverpool target Connor Wickham has officially signed on with Sunderland today for a
base fee of £8M rising to £12M if he meets certain performance and appearance benchmarks. He's 18
years old, a highly rated striker, and was likely assured of playing time at Sunderland while the
club must be sure themselves that in four or five years they'll be able to move him on him for
twice as much.
In an off-season that has been highlighted about players leaving Atletico Madrid, it is a
welcome change to write about a player who is joining the club.
Sílvio, who is a Portuguese international defender, was signed from Braga for a fee reported to
be in the region of €8m and has signed a five-year deal at the Vicente Calderón.
Since sacking Claudio Ranieri in June 2004 to appointing Andre Villas-Boas in June 2011, Roman

managers since 2004.
